Ropeway Biswa Shanti Stupa (World Peace Pagoda) Rajgir, Bihar
Rajgir (originally known as Girivraj) is a city and a notified area in Nalanda district in the Indian state of Bihar. The city of Rajgir (ancient Rājagṛha; Pali: Rājagaha was the first capital of the kingdom of Magadha, a state that would eventually evolve into the Mauryan Empire. Its date of origin is unknown, although ceramics dating to about 1000 BC have been found in the city. This area is also notable in Jainism and Buddhism[3] as one of the favorite places for Lord Mahavira and Gautama Buddha and the well known Atanatiya conference was held at Vulture's Peak mountain.
Rajgir is connected to Patna via Bakhtiarpur by rail and road. Bakhtiarpur lies midway between Patna and Mokameh. Road access is by NH 30A to Bakhtiarpur and NH 31 towards south to reach Bihar Sharif. From Mokameh NH 31 to Bihar Sharif. From there, NH 82 will leads to Rajgir. Rajgir is around 100 KM from both Patna and Mokameh. It is located in a green valley surrounded by rocky hills, Rajgir hills. A daily Indian Railways train Shramjeevi Express connects Rajgir with the Indian capital New Delhi

Rajgir just 15 kms from Nalanda is located the complex of temples and monasteries. The place is called Rajgir. It is one of the most important tourist places in India. Being located in a valley, Rajgir is a very scenic place. The small hill grit town is covered with lush green forest which add to the beauty of the place. Rajgir was the capital of the Magadh Mahajanpad (State) when Patliputra was not formed. In those days it was called Rajgrih. Rajgir or Rajgrih means the home of Royalty. This place has been associated with Lord Buddha and Buddhism. Buddha not only spent many years in Rajgir but also delivered sermons here and proselytized emperor Bimbisar at the Griddhakoota hill. The Jivekarmavan monastery was the favorite residence for Buddha. Even Bimbisar gave Venuvan Vihar to Buddha for his residence. It is said that it was at Rajgir that physician treated Buddha, Jivak after he was injured by his cousin Devdatta.The teachings of Buddha was penned down at Rajgir and it was also the venue for the first Buddhist Council. Today Rajgir has come up as one of the most important pilgrimage for the Buddhist.Rajgir also has some very beautiful Hindu and Jain temples which attracts Hindus and Jains also to the place. Not only as a place for worship, Rajgir has come up as health and winter resort with its warm water ponds. These ponds are said to contain some medicinal properties which help in the cure of many skin diseases. The added attraction of Rajgir is the Ropeway which takes you uphill to the Shanti Stupa and Monasteries built by the Japanese Devotees on top of the Ratnagiri hills.

My Journey to several Buddhist Pilgrimage sites begin, Started from Changi Airport in the afternoon, then Transit in Bangkok for around 6hours fly to Kolkata India at 1AM flight, After that i need to wait for my next flight to Patna that is 9AM. So it is very tiring.

Join my Buddhist Pilgrimage Series when we visited Beautiful India & Nepal, to visit several Buddhism sites for 12 days.
I will be joining group from Cetiya Panna Sikha from Jakarta Indonesia. The Tour Leader would be Bhikkhu Dhammavuddho.
beside Buddhist Pilgrimage sites, we will also visit and stay at several Buddhism temple along the way, so it would be so much fun and serene.

- Bodh Gaya: (in the current Mahabodhi Temple, Bihar, India), is the most important religious site and place of pilgrimage, the Mahabodhi Temple houses what is believed to be the Bodhi Tree where the Buddha realized enlightenment and Buddha hood.
- Lumbini: birthplace of Gautama Buddha inside Mahadevi Stupa (known as Vesak)(in Nepal)
- Bodh Gaya: where the Buddha attained enlightenment beneath a sacred Bodhi Tree (Mahabodhi Temple Complex) (known as Vesak) (Bihar)
- Sarnath: Gautama Buddha delivered his first teaching. (known as Asadha) (Isipathana,Uttar pradesh, India)
- Kuśinagara: Gautama Buddha died and attained Parinirvana.
(known as Vesak) (Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, India)
- Ramabar Stupa: also called a Mukutbandhan-Chaitya, is the cremation place of Buddha (Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, India)
- Nalanda University: Very Large Buddhist University Complex that once is the center of Buddhism learning. (Bihar / Patna)
- Veluvana Arama Temple: the meetup place between Buddha and 1250 Ehi Bhikkhu Arahat, that is (known as Magha Puja). (Rajgir)
- Gijjhakuta / Vulture peak / Holy Eagle Peak: Place where Buddha teach the Heart Sutra, the Lotus Sutra and the Śūraṅgama Samādhi Sūtra as well as many prajnaparamita sutras. (Rajgir)
- Sujata House: Sujata is the last people that donate food to Bodhisattva before he reach enlightenment (Bihar)
- Gangga / Ganges River: The Ganges is one of the most sacred rivers to Hindus, very beautiful at night (Varanasi).
- Dhamek / Dhamekh Stupa: Place where the Buddha gave the first sermon to his first five brahmin disciples revealing his Eightfold Path leading to nirvana, (known as Asadha)

- Jetavana Arama: Jetavana was the place where the Buddha gave the majority of his teachings and discourses, having passed at Jetavana nineteen out of 45 vassas, more than in any other monaster. (Savathi / Uttar Pradesh)

The Remains of the Bimbisara Jail and Its History in Hindi | Weekend Escapes
Today, we're going to visit a historical place in Rajgir where the first king of Magadh Empire and Founder of Haryanka Dynasty, King Bimbisar was imprisoned by his own son Ajatshatru, during his last days of life.
Yes guys we are talking about the Bimbisara Jail which is in Rajgir near Vishwa Santi Stupa. This place was chosen by the king himself for his incarceration, as from here he could see Lord Buddha going up the Griddhakuta Parvat for meditation.

Nalanda University (also known as Nalanda International University) is an international and research-intensive university located in the historical city of Rajgir, near Nalanda, India, which was established by an Act of Parliament to emulate the famous Nalanda of ancient India. The original university, widely considered to be the greatest and most glorious of all ancient monasteries and the world's first residential institution, functioned for over 800 years, starting from around 400 AD. Nalanda University at its peak housed 10,000 students from all across Asia. Some famous personalities associated with the original illustrious university include Lord Buddha, who had preached at Rajgir centuries earlier, the great Indian mathematician Aryabhata, the celebrated Indian Emperor Harshavardhana, and the legendary Buddhist master Atiśa. The university began its first academic session on September 1, 2014 with 15 students including five women. Its original faculty consisted of world-class professors from some of the top universities across the globe. Initially set up with temporary facilities in Rajgir, a massive modern campus is expected to be finished by 2020. The university has been designated as an international institute of national importance by the Parliament of India.

Rajgir was the ancient capital city of the kings of Magadha. The name Rajgir literally means House of the King. Rajgir pilgrimage is a very important Buddhist site since Lord Buddha spent 12 years over here and also preached two sermons. The first Buddhist Council, after the attainment of Nirvana by Buddha, was hosted over here in the Saptaparni caves. Buddha's favorite retreat was at the Jivkamaravana monastery located amidst scenic thickets. The Rajgir Buddhist pilgrimage is one of the most visited sites in India and has many structures built in the Buddhist architectural style.
Some major sites worth seeing in Rajgir are as follows:
Makhdum kund
Makhdum Kund is a a hot spring adjacent to Vipula Hill in Rajgir popular to Muslim devotees. The place is named after Muslim Saint Makhdum Saheb, who is believed to have spent 12 years in the jungles of Rajgir in 13th century. MAkhdum Kund's warm springs are very similar to Tapodharma.
Gridhakuta Hill
The Gridhakuta hill is also known as the Vulture's Peak. This is the place where Lord Buddha preached many of his teachings and sermons. Upon the attainment of enlightenment, he preached two of the most important sermons known as Lotus Sutra and the Prajnaparamita over here.
Hot Springs
The Hot Springs are located at the foot of the Vaibhava hills. The water gushes out from the stream named as Saptadhara. The hottest spring over here is the Brahmakund, which is 45o Celsius. There are separate bathing places for men and women and the water is supposed to have medicinal properties.
Jain Temples
The Jain temples on the hills surrounding Rajgir are worth the visit. Not only is it fun to go for a trek on the hills, but also the surrounding landscape provides delightful panorama. There are 26 Jain temples in all.
Saptparni Cave
The Saptparni Cave was the cave where the first congregation of the Buddhist Council took place after Lord Buddha attained Nirvana. The place also has a Burmese temple and a Japanese temple.
Shanti Stupa
The Shanti Stupa is a beautiful structure in white and is one of the major Buddhist attractions at Rajgir. It is located at the top of Ratnagiri hill. The stupa has four golden statues symbolizing the four major stages in his life: His birth, His enlightenment, His teaching and His death.

In this video, we are traveling to the north east of Varanasi for around 10 km. in order to visit the village, Sarnath.
Sarnath or also known as Isipatana is one of the four important Buddha Pilgrimages.
It is the place where the Buddha has taught the Dharma, Dhammacakkappavattana sutta, for the first time after he has achieved enlightenment at Bodh Gaya.
The place is really calm and amazing. We could spend half a day to visit all the highlight places here. If you get time from Varanasi city, we definitely you travel to here :D.
