अशर्फी महल: ऐसे कम करती थीं रानियां अपना वजन | Asharfi Mahal, Mandu, Madhya Pradesh
The historical city of Mandu is one of the surreal travel destinations of Madhya Pradesh. It has many beautiful monuments and the stories behind their construction truly incite an urge to visit this place. One such masterpiece is Asharfi Mahal, which is believed to have been constructed as a Madrasa first. The story of naming this palace is also very interesting. According to the story, taking a concern towards increasing obesity among his queens, ruler Ghiyasuddin Khilji asked them to reduce their weight by climbing up and down the staircase of the palace regularly. In return, he decided to gift 'Asharfi' (gold coins) to the queens. Since then, it s called Asharfi Mahal.

Now one of the major attractions at Mandu, Ashrafi Mahal was constructed as a 'Tower of Victory' by Mahmud Shah to celebrate his victory over Rana Kumbha of Mewar. Mandu, a fortress town situated on the Vindhya Ranges is about 100km away from Indore city in Madhya Pradesh.
Ancient Mandu, India: Rupamati's Pavilion and Baz Palace
Baz Bahadur was the last independent ruler of Mandu and built a beautiful lake and palace for his favorite concubine Rupamati, next to his own palace.
Rumati was a shepherdess and agreed to come to Mandu only if she could view the sacred Narmada River. Baz built, she came and they lived happily (I guess) until the Moghul emperor Akbar marched on Mandu in 1561. Baz fled, Rupamati poisoned herself, end of story.

Mandavgarh - City Of Joy, Jahaj Mahal (Jal-Mahal or Ship Palace)..
'Mandav' or 'Mandavgarh', Popularly known as MANDU,is situated at a distance of about 90 km from the Indore city of Madhya Pradesh.
Indore is well connected with other cities of India so reaching Indore was the most comfortable part of the journey.
Mandavgarh is famous for its amazing Fort. The fort is 82 km in perimeter and is considered to be The Biggest In India.
You will start getting the glimpse of the ruins and monuments as you approach the hill top and tableland of Mandu. Mandu has got picturesque backdrop overlooking the valley of Vindhya Range.
Jahaz-Mahal (Ship Palace): It is the monument noted for its romantic beauty. Standing lengthwise in a narrow strip of Land between the waters of the Munja and Kapur Tanks (Talab or Talav), the palace resembles a ship. It was probably built by the pleasure-loving Sultan Shiyathud-din (A.D 1469-1500) for his large harem.
It was probably built to offer a private escape for Royal Couples..
Jahaz-Mahal is one of the finest examples of Afghan Architecture in India. Gadashah’s palace is another beautiful architecture opposite to Jahaz Mahal but now largely a ruin. Kapur Talab (Tank) in the front of Jahaz Mahal adds a unique charm to the complex.Though it has not been dated it is likely that it was constructed after the Khalji era..
It was originally founded in the 10th century by the Parmar rulers who made it their fort capital. Later, it was conquered by the Delhi Sultans, who named it as Shadiabad, meaning the City of Joy. There are a host of historical monuments here which are constructed on the fusion of Hindu and Afghan style of architecture.
