Panfilov Park Almaty:
The Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen is a major park in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The park is located in east-central Almaty in the area surrounding Zenkov Cathedral. It is dedicated to and named after the Panfilov Heroes, 28 soldiers of an Almaty infantry unit who died fighting Nazi German invaders outside of Moscow in World War II. The group takes its name from Ivan Panfilov, the General commanding the 316th division which, in spite of heavy casualties, believed at that time managed to significantly delay the Germans' advance on the capital, buying time for the defenders of the city. An eternal flame commemorating the fallen of the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War burns in front of the giant black monument of soldiers from all 15 Soviet republics.
There was a suggestion to rename the current existing name for the park due to the July 2015 publications by the State Archive of the Russian Federation that the military newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda had concocted the story's details of the heroic story. However, there are no considerations by the city officials in renaming the park.

A new Kazakhstan-Korea Friendship Garden park has been opened in Astana
President Park recognizes ethnic Koreans' achievements in Central Asia
Following Thursday's summit, President Park attended an opening ceremony for an exhibit of art works by ethnic Korean artists in the Kazakh capital.
Before looking around art pieces by four ethnic Koreans, as well as 12 Korean artists under the title People, the president talked about the painful history of Korean immigrants in Russia's Far East who were deported to the region in the 1930s.
She then expressed gratitude and encouragement to their descendants for overcoming the pain and having settled down in Kazakhstan and in Central Asia.
The art works, which feature Korea's migration history and Koreans' will to open a bright future, will run at the Palace of Independence in Astana until July 16th.

Khan Shatyr-Astana-Kazakhstan
Khan Shatyr (meaning Royal Marquee) is a transparent tent located in Astana (the capital city of Kazakhstan). Built in a neofuturist style, the architectural project was unveiled by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on December 9, 2006.The 150m-high (500 ft) tent has a 200m elliptical base covering 140,000 square metres (14 ha; 35 acres). Underneath the tent, an area larger than 10 football stadiums, is an urban-scale internal park, shopping and entertainment venue with squares and cobbled streets, a boating river, shopping centre, minigolf and indoor beach resort. The fabric roof is constructed from ETFE-cushions provided by Vector Foiltec suspended on a network of cables strung from a central spire. The transparent material allows sunlight through which, in conjunction with the stack effect, air heating and cooling systems, is designed to maintain an internal temperature between 15–30 °C (59–86 °F) in the main space and 19–24 °C (66–75 °F) in the retail units, while outside the temperature varies between −35 and 35 °C (−31 and 95 °F) across the year.Following the construction of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation (opened in 2006), a glass pyramid, the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center was the second national project in Astana designed by UK architect Norman Foster (of Foster and Partners), (Partners in Charge Filo Russo and Peter Ridley), and UK engineers Buro Happold led by Mike Cook.[3] Construction documentation architects were Linea and Gultekin. The construction of the tent-city was the responsibility of the Turkish company Sembol.
After a series of delays, the main mast was eventually erected in December 2008, and the whole complex was completed and opened on July 5, 2010, 70th birthday of Kazakhstan's president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Andrea Bocelli gave a concert for the occasion, with guests including the President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev; the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych; the President of Turkey, Abdullah Gül; the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko; the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan; the President of Tajikistan, Emomalii Rahmon; the President of Kyrgyzstan, Roza Otunbayeva; the Crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and the King of Jordan, Abdullah II.Wikipedia

Expedition: Asia Vlog Episode 2 - Turgen River, Kazakhstan
Episode 2 of our Expedition: Asia Series brought us to the Turgen River outside of Almaty, Kazakhstan. This short section or river is an hour east of Almaty in the Ile-Alatau National Park. We didn't make it up to the waterfall since the opportunity to get out there was a little last minute. Unfortunately, through some miscommunications our paddles didn't make it over to Kazakhstan. Luckily we were able to meet up with Vitaly, from the Kazakhstan Rafting Federation, who was able to lend us a few paddles for the trip and help with the shuttle. Aferwards we switched accommodations from our initial hotel to an Airbnb for 2 nights before we headed out to Kyrgyzstan with a couple of complications along the way, namely no one on our crew spoke Russian or Kazakh.
Nur Sultan (Astana), Kazakhstan
A day in freezing cold (-10) November 2019 day Nur-Sultan, the new-ish capital of Kazakhstan
The Capital of Kazakhstan - Nur-Sultan (Astana) in summer 4k
Nur-Sultan is the capital of Kazakhstan. Astana is its previous name. It has been renamed several times. Previous names include Tselinograd, Akmola, Astana, and Nur-Sultan. Kazakhstan is the world’s ninth-biggest country is the most economically advanced of the ‘stans’, thanks to its abundant reserves of oil and most other valuable minerals. This means generally better standards of accommodation, restaurants and transport than elsewhere in Central Asia. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the depressed agricultural town of Tselinograd was completely revamped and renamed Astana when President Nazarbayev unexpectedly named it Kazakhstan’s future capital in 1994. The transformation from small town to world-class capital has continued since Astana officially took on the job title in late 1997 and was renamed from Akmola to Astana in 1998. This ever-growing city – host to the Expo 2017 world fair – offers a glimpse into a town of tomorrow.

Leaders of Korea, Kazakhstan look to expand joint business projects in Kazakhstan
President Park Geun-hye, currently on a state visit to Kazakhtan,... and her counterpart there have agreed to take their economic ties up a notch by expanding joint projects beyond the Central Asian nation's energy sector.
The Kazakh president also gave its backing for President Park's North Korea policies.
Choi You-sun sends this report from Astana.
During a summit meeting in Astana Thursday, President Park Geun-hye and her Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev first checked up on three, previously-signed joint projects that are worth 10 billion U.S. dollars.
Seoul asked for Astana's cooperation in speeding up initiatives on the construction of a coal thermal plant and petrochemical complex,... along with mining projects off the Kazakh coast near the Caspian Sea.
While Seoul considers Kazakhstan a key investment destination in resource-rich Central Asia, Astana has made Korea a role model for its so-called 2050 strategy, that aims to make it one of the world's top 30 economic powerhouses.
Beyond their energy ventures, Presidents Park and Nazarbayev agreed to sign a rail technology sharing deal that could offer Korean firms the chance to participate in Kazakh railway and transportation infrastructure construction in the future.
This, in line with President Park's initiative to link energy and logistics infrastructure across Eurasia, to transform the global economic system and assure security on the Korean peninsula.
They also discussed working together in areas of medicine, forestry and visa waivers.
Kazakhstan, which voluntarily handed over some 1-thousand former Soviet nuclear warheads in the 1990s, reiterated its position of not recognizing North Korea as a nuclear weapons state.
It also endorsed President Park's trust-building policies with the North.
In an interview with a Kazakh media outlet, the South Korean leader urged Pyongyang to learn from Kazakhstan,... which has developed thanks to financial aid from the West and has been given security assurances after giving up its nuclear arms.
Wrapping up her state visit to Kazakhstan, President Park will depart for the final leg of her Central Asia tour to Turkmenistan Friday, the first-ever visit to the country by a Korean president.
