Welcome to the Asian Civilisations Museum. The museum fosters understanding of the diverse heritage cultures of Singapore, their interconnections, and connections with the world. Our key message is that Asia, like Singapore, has always been cross-cultural. Visitors will find that many objects in our galleries are hybrid — configurations of east-west and east-east — just as Singaporeans are essentially mixed. No culture in Asia has ever existed in isolation, but rather, they have always interacted with and mutually enriched each other.
Asian Civilisations Museum
A stately monument built in 1860s in the heart of the Empress Place precinct, the Asian Civilisations Museum is well established as an important institution, a popular venue for cultural events and a prime space for civic activities. The addition of two new wings has enhanced the museum’s cultural role, affirming its eminence as an institution that both honours the past and celebrates the future.
Kwek Hong Png Wing and Riverfront Wing, Asian Civilisations Museum won the 2018 Architectural Heritage Award for New Design in a Heritage Context.

Located by the historic Singapore River, the Asian Civilisations Museum traces the diverse cultural roots of modern Singaporeans. A descendant of the Raffles Museum, the ACM features collections from Southeast Asia, South Asia, China and the Islamic world of West Asia. In addition, the Singapore River Gallery tells the moving story of immigrants who lived and worked on the Singapore River, the source of Singapore's rich multi-cultural society.

Asian Civilizations Museum in Singapore is truly one of a kind. It explores all of Asia, from Iran to Indonesia, and includes artifacts and collections from every Asian country. The word Asian is often mistaken with Chinese or mongoloid nations, but this museum includes all the Asian countries like India, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc. The museum is very large with multiple floors and has many thousands of items on display. Chinese designer Guo Pei's masterpieces on display at Asian Civilisations Museum
Twenty nine iconic embroidered dresses designed by one of China's most well-known couturiers, Guo Pei, were on display at the Asian Civilisations Museum. Mr Kennie Ting, director at the museum, was in the studio to discuss more.

Let's get CULTURAL! A very brief look at the Asian Civilisations Museum
I decided to do something a little different this week - by visiting a MUSEUM! So I went over to the Asian Civilisation Museum (ACM) to see what interesting exhibits they have on display. The place is HUGE!! There was just too much to take in and film.. so I'm just showing a small snippet of what I saw.
This was also my first attempt in creating a documentary-like film.

Asian Civilizations Museum
The Asian Civilizations Museum, abbreviated to ACM, is one of the national museums in Singapore. It is the one of its kind museum in Asia, showcasing an integrated spectrum of pan-Asian civilizations and cultures. This museum comes under the National Heritage Board of Singapore.
The cultural treasure-troves of the museum are spread across two buildings, which are of walking distance from each other. The first building is at the Empress Place and called as Empress Place Building. The second building is at the Armenian Street, which is called old Tao Nan School. It takes around fifteen minutes to walk from one building to the other. The building of Empress Place has around eleven galleries that showcase more than 1300 artifacts.
