Best Waterfall In The Philippines? (THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!) - Asik-Asik Falls, North Cotabato
This could be the best waterfall in the Philippiness...
Asik-Asik Falls in North Cotabato is incredibly unique! What used to be a massive Balete Tree was ripped away and destroyed by Typhoon Sendong. Because of this a massive subterranean waterfall system was revealed and it is AMAZING!
Asik-Asik Falls may take a little bit of an adventurous drive and hike to get to... but this curtain waterfall is worth it!!
Pure Mindanao Beauty.
Super Apir!

We planned our January Philippines trip around a visit to Asik Asik Falls, which we had seen amazing photos of on Instagram!
The closest airport to the falls is in Cotabato City. Both Philippines Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air have daily morning flights to Cotabato, which take just an hour from Manila. We opted to stay in Midsayap, which is closer to Asik Asik and just one hour or 45 km from Cotabato City. We paid our taxi driver 1,500 pesos for the one-way trip. Before we left Cotabato City, he took us to see the spectacular Grand Mosque, which was a gift from the Sultan of Brunei.
In Midsayap, we stayed at White Hut Inn & Resort. The rooms are basic, but there's hot water and White Hut has an excellent pool complete with two water slides, and admissions is free for Inn guests. The food is also very good! Although White Hut is set up for WiFi, it wasn't working during our stay.
The next day (Jan. 23), we got up early to begin our trek to Asik Asik. Public buses - very affordable (!) - leave from the Midsayap bus station to Alamada, where you'll have to switch to habal habal or motorbikes, around 9:00 or 10:00 am. Instead of waiting until later in the morning, we paid a motorbike taxi 300 pesos to take us both (i.e. both of us and the driver on one bike) to Alamada. It took around 45 minutes.
Alamada is where the motorbike drivers with experience driving to and from Asik Asik are located. It's important to use an experienced driver because the roads get very rocky, and there aren't many signs along the way. Given the length of the journey that lay ahead as well as the road conditions, we rode on separate motorbikes and paid 700 pesos each for the round trip. If you are Filipino or very good at bargaining, you should be able to negotiate the fare down. A helpful blogger ( noted that one-way fare should cost about 300 pesos per person.
The ride from Alamada to Dado where you pay your Tourist Registration Fee takes around one hour and is moderately rocky and bumpy interspersed with patches of paved road. The registration fee is just 30 pesos per person.
The last stretch from Upper Dado to the jump-off point, or start of the walk, to Asik Asik took approximately 45 minutes. This part of the journey was the rockiest.
Drivers can park their motorbikes at the jump-off point where there is a covered area that also contains a small snack stand with drinks (water, soda, Gatorade, etc.), instant cup noodles, and biscuits and chips. The walk from the jump-off point to the actual falls took about 40 minutes.
Drum roll please...Asik Asik was STUNNING! The rather long journey was totally worth it! The waters are icy cold, but we couldn't go all that way and not wade in to climb onto the rocks. Note: Women should remember to wear board shorts and a shirt or something similar to stay covered up. Glo didn't have any spare clothes, so the guard was gracious in allowing her to climb onto the rocks in her bikini bottoms and sports bra for a quick photo. But he was very strict in telling her to change as soon as she got out of the water. This is completely understandable given that the province is more conservative socially.
FYI: We only learned after arriving in Cotabato City that security in the province is quite high. Foreigners interested in travel to Asik Asik should take every precaution - including checking on any travel advisories from your embassy - before finalizing travel arrangements.
As always, thank you for watching!! And happy travels!! :D

This is my very first moto travel vlog for Born to Ride Philippines! The goal here is to go to at least one or two of the most famous tourist attractions for each of the 81 Philippine Provinces.
My first feature province is Cotabato! This is our first province because this is one of the most famous provinces in Mindanao and even has a song dedicated to it.
This Asik-Asik Falls ride is with the motorcycle club where I am a member, XPLORER Riders Club Philippines Gensan Chapter. They are already my second family.
And... since this is my very first vlog, please spare my very poor video editing skills because I'm still learning and I haven't really edited a serious video in my lifetime. But I promise to further hone my video editing skills so I can give you top-notch quality moto travel videos in the future. I have quite a bubbly personality with a seldom makabayan-ipaglaban mo problems (LOL! if you know what I mean...) but as we go along, you are going to know me better.
I don't know what to say anymore guys co'z YouTube says I still have 5,000 more characters to type, so I guess I'll just end it now with a malutong na...

Majestic Asik Asik Falls in Alamada North Cotabato Philippines
There are plenty of breathtaking waterfalls in the country, but this one is a one-of-a-kind.
The waterfalls resemble a curtain of spring waters flowing down from a jade wall covered in lush foliage.
Located in the town of Alamada in Northern Cotabato
It’s the kind of sight that should be experienced on its own.
Nonetheless, here’s a glimpse and get a charge out of this gem of nature.

Asik Asik Falls Alamada, North Cotabato 2018
Asik-asik falls is found in Brgy Dado, Alamada, North Cotabato. Within the Libungan-Alamada natural botanic area. Before exploring make sure you are prepared and got the endurance to walk on the 400 plus stairs.
Things to know before going to asik-asik falls
1. Make sure that you are in your bathing attire there is no place or even a bathroom down there to change clothes.
2. Make sure that you can endure the long stair walk, there are almost 400 staircases, which can range from slightly sloppy to very very steep and slippery. Going down is easier but going back uphill is were the pain in the muscles is.
3. Make sure you rented a stick, it cost only 5 pesos only. Going down will not help that much, but going back uphill the stick will serve as your cane, and it will be very very helpful. My uncle even the took the stick with him, as a remembrance of its usefulness.
4. When you are with the kids make sure to hold them, especially in traversing the stairs, there are reported cases where kids fall on the stairs.
5. Take only light snacks or no food at all. reserve all eating on top. There are cottages to place your food. There is no place to grill all the fish and meat.
6. It is very helpful to be in your rubber shoes especially during rainy days. Some stairs are slippery, it is an extra protection when you are wearing a rubber shoes. There is also a portion that is not yet cemented, so when it gets wet, it is very very slippery, especially when you are wearing your slippers.

Watch out for my 2nd Province... Saranggani Province!
To all the tourists that we've met on the falls, and on the stairways thank you for sharing your Hi's and Hello's with us. Your smiles and jokes along the way made us survive the gruesome treck with joy and never ending laughter. To all of you, please stay cool forever! ????????????

Asik-asik Falls, Alamada, Cotabato, December 2016
Asik-asik Falls in Alamada, Cotabato is one of the must-visit tourist destination in Mindanao. It is a very unique waterfalls because the water spring directly from th cracks of the rocks; it doesn't have stream or lake on the higher ground that could be the source of the water. This is the reason why some people call it a spring falls.
