Yogyakarta Airbnb Unterkunft - Chilled Homestay Roomtour - Indonesien
Yogyakarta Airbnb Unterkunft -- Chilled Homestay Roomtour - Indonesien!

Indonesia looks to build new capital to replace sinking and congested Jakarta
Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here:
The Indonesian government is looking at potential sites for a new capital after approving a plan to relocate government and civil offices from Jakarta.
For years, leaders have been worried about the current capital’s heavy traffic, pollution and flooding due to rising sea levels and sinking land.
The two frontrunners for the new capital location – Gunung Mas and Kutai Kartanegara – are both in Kalimantan on Borneo island. Jakarta is on Java island.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo got a first-hand look at the two proposed locations when he flew over them last week, May 7-8, 2019.

Rif - Fight (Live at Java Rockin' Land 2013)

Mass evacuation in Indonesia as Java volcano erupts - 15 February 2014
Thousands of people are evacuating their homes in Indonesia after a volcano erupted in east Java.
Mount Kelud spewed ash and debris over a large area, including the city of Surabaya, about 130km (80 miles) away.
Some towns are reported to have been covered by a 4cm (1.6 in) layer of ash.
Three major airports in Surabaya, Solo and Yogyakarta were forced to shut down because of low visibility. There are also fears that debris could damage aircraft engines.
Officials raised an alert on Thursday around an hour before the volcano erupted, and urged around 200,000 people living in 36 villages in a 10km (6 mile) radius around the volcano to evacuate.
However, it is not clear if they have all left their homes.
Some of the evacuees tried to visit their houses on Friday morning to gather clothing and valuables, but were forced to turn back by the continuous stream of volcanic ash and rocks from the volcano, AFP news agency reported.
The volcano spewed ash and gravel that flew as far as 200km (124 miles) away, National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho told the BBC.
The roofs of some houses reportedly collapsed under the debris.
The nearest town from the volcano, Kediri, looks completely grey and white, the BBCs Alice Budisatrijo in Jakarta reports.
The thick dust makes it dangerous for pedestrians and vehicles to be on the road, and authorities say residents are volunteering to sweep the streets, our correspondent adds.
The 1,731-m (5,600 ft) Mount Kelud - which had been rumbling for several weeks - erupted at about 21:50 local time (16:50 GMT) on Thursday.
However, the head of Indonesias Volcano and Geology Agency, Hendrasto, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, said the eruption was gradually subsiding.
The volcano last erupted in 1990, killing dozens of people. A powerful eruption in 1919 killed around 5,000 people.
Indonesia lies across a series of geological fault-lines and is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
There are around 130 active volcanoes in the country.
Earlier this month, Mount Sinabung on the island of Sumatra erupted, killing at least 14 people.

Volcano Erupts In Indonesia's East Java
Mount Kelud in East Java, Indonesia, started erupting Thursday, forcing thousands of residents living within 10 km from the crater to evacuate. Based on data recorded days before the eruption, officials said there are at least 21,000 people living in the dangerous zone. The volcanology agency elevated the alert status of Mount Kelud to the top level at 21:15. The last volcanic eruption of Mount Kelud occurred in 2007 and its strongest eruption took place in 1919 and claimed 55 lives. Indonesia has just endured months long volcanic eruption of Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra that killed 17 people.
Indonesian street name in Den Haag
Being colonised by the Dutch for 350 years, Indonesia and Netherlands still have special bond towards each other. In Den Haag, there is a large Indonesian community and many Indonesian restaurants. But one thing in particular is very interesting, in one area the name of the streets are taken from the name of provinces or islands of Indonesia such as Java, Sumatra, Bali, Lombok etc.

My First Volcano, Java, Indonesia. Episode 34-3min SD
In October, 2010, the volcano erupted killing 32 people and 40,000 others were forced to flee. It also erupted last year, after we summitted killing 25 people. We summit in the dark of night and stop to visit the graves of previous climbers.

An Indonesian volcano in Java
Merapi Volcano at 2,911 meters
We set out from Italy then jumped on a train in Jakarta.
We began the trek from Yogyakarta. We set out around midnight for the trailhead.
The trail is a steep, long and tiring ascent.
At 2:14am we were 2 hours from the summit, and Cristina began to have doubts when she spotted the tombstones
“Dead climbers?” she asked.
“Yeah, they fell.” Replied the guide.
She did not want to proceed, but her options were to remain there waiting for us (2.5 to 3 hours) in the cold.
She couldn’t sit there for 2 hours. She hoped to get to the top as soon as possible.
After 4 o’clock in the morning and we were still climbing.
Cristina was thinking of all the lava under her feet and didn’t like it.
We took a break as the sun rose. One more steep ascent to go.
The ground was now becoming hot and steamy.
At last we approached the rim of the volcano. Cristina was happy to be at the top.
See you in in Indonesia next time.

Tropical Punch Tour: Java Video
Spanning roughly 150 x 600 miles, Java is one long stringbean of a volcano-spined tropical island. Boasting the highest population of Indonesia, many of whom are Muslim, its largest cities--Jakarta on the West side and Surabaya on the East--are sprawling, polluted, centers of raw, urban chaos. Yogyakarta and Solo in Central Java rival each other as centers of culture, with regular dance and gamelan music performances and tons of other traditional artistic output in the form of carvings, sculpture, painting, and much more. Endless beaches, jungles and mountains also attract their fair share of foreigners.
Tropical Punch Tour: Java Video aims the spotlight on musical and cultural life in and around Yogyakarta. The shenanigans begin with a quick glance at raw street musicians on the main drag in town, Jalon Malioboro. Next up, a few Wayang Kulit shadow puppets float into view, followed by a sprightly gamelan orchestra and Wayang Kulit shadow puppet play at the Sono Budoyo Museum. Next morning, we peel ourselves out of bed for an early morning visit to Borobudur, a giant Buddhist temple that's bigger than a city block and taller than Godzilla. It was built back in the ninth century, when Buddhism reigned as Java's primary religion. A violent Wayang Golek wooden puppet play with another chiming gamelan orchestra goes down at the Sultan's Palace, followed by the super-colorful Ramayana Ballet at Purawisata. The video closes with a visit to the serene Taman Sari water palace, and musical instruments under fiery construction at a gamelan foundry in Bentuyang.

SUMMARY
=======
The Japanese Empire occupied the Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia, during World War II from March 1942 until after the end of the War in September 1945. The period was one of the most critical in Indonesian history. The Dutch East Indies had been a colony of the Netherlands (the Dutch) since 1819. However, the Netherlands itself had been occupied by Germany, and thus had little ability to defend its colony against the Japanese army, and less than three months after the first attacks on Borneo, the Japanese navy and army overran Dutch and allied forces. Initially, most Indonesians joyfully welcomed the Japanese as liberators from their Dutch colonial masters. The sentiment changed, however, as Indonesians realized that they were expected to endure more hardship for the Japanese war effort. In 1944–1945, Allied troops largely bypassed Indonesia and did not fight their way into the most populous parts such as Java and Sumatra. As such, most of Indonesia was still under Japanese occupation at the time of its surrender in August 1945.
The occupation was the first serious challenge to the Dutch in Indonesia and ended the Dutch colonial rule, and, by its end, changes were so numerous and extraordinary that the subsequent watershed, the Indonesian National Revolution, was possible in a manner unfeasible just three years earlier. Unlike the Dutch, the Japanese facilitated the politicisation of Indonesians down to the village level. Particularly in Java and, to a lesser extent, Sumatra, the Japanese educated, trained and armed many young Indonesians and gave their nationalist leaders a political voice. Thus, through both the destruction of the Dutch colonial regime and the facilitation of Indonesian nationalism, the Japanese occupation created the conditions for the proclamation of Indonesian independence within days of the Japanese surrender in the Pacific. However, the Netherlands sought to reclaim the Indies, and a bitter five-year diplomatic, military and social struggle ensued, resulting in the Netherlands recognising Indonesian sovereignty in December 1949.
