Amazing 1966 Brødr. Reber A/S (Schindler) traction elevator @ Schankebygget in Porsgrunn, Norway
A completely original Reber-Schindler elevator from 1966 - with nine floors! What an EPIC & AMAZING find! This is the only elevator serving the nine floors of this office building, so it must have been heavily used and often busy - but still completely original after almost 50 years in service! Yet it's still going strong and still seems to be in good technical condition and able to run for many more years. Awesome quality and durability in these old machines. The 1960's: - a glorious era of engineering and craftsmanship - here's the proof of that!
This elevator has logic almost similar to pop-out button elevators from Schindler from that time. It has full memory but only in one direction. The controller resets / cancels all calls when you reach the last floor (or the last called floor) in the travel direction. Pop-out Schindlers are slightly different because the buttons stay pushed in untill everything is reset - here the lights turn off individually when arriving at each called floor.
I just love these classic elevators with their relay-controls, manual doors and lot's of light bulbs to indicate floors and travel direction and you name it. This elevator takes you fast and efficient to your desired floor and it's such a pleassure to ride - and so much fun to test out aswell

This elevator looks like a wreck from outside lol but on the inside it has been totally modernied. The elevator door opening directly to the outside is locked off. Everything else is not locked - the elevator is open to the public.
The fireproof elevator doors are manufactured by Rosengrens of Gothenburg, Sweden. These doors are typically found in Denmark on elevators delivered in the 1960s and 1970s by Siemens (most common) and TS-Schlieren (less common)
