Aston Hall - Birmingham
Aston Hall is one of Birmingham's most treasured buildings. One of England's finest Jacobean mansions, built by Sir Thomas Holte, a Warwickshire landowner, between 1618-1635,the man after whom the Holte End stand of Villa Park is named. Grade I listed. The house boasts some fine interiors including early 17th century plasterwork, wood carving and chimney pieces. Aston Hall boasts sumptious interiors from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, including the magnificent Long Gallery.
Display rooms illustrate the part Aston Hall and it's residents played in key moments in history, including the English Civil War, and how it prepared to recieve royalty on more than one occasion.
Aston Hall
Aston Hall in Birmingham is a Grade 1 listed Jacobean mansion and was built between 1618 and 1635 for Sir Thomas Holte. The Holte family previously owned and lived in the nearby Duddeston Hall and where extremely wealthy.
During the civil war the house was damaged by Cromwell's armies but luckily has been restored. I wasn't allowed to film the whole tour of this building but I did get to cover a lot of it. If you are thinking of visiting Aston Hall I highly recommend you take the tour of the building, my video does not relate how nice this building is and the volunteers who work here are very helpful and will give you a complete history during the tour. The Hall is also used by Aston Villa Football Club for home matches.

Visiting Aston Hall
So I decided to throw together a quick showreel of sorts - I took the Sony A7R II with a 24-70mm F4 and an additional 12-24mm lens to Aston Hall in Birmingham. Forgive the shakiness and distortion in some clips; I was still getting used to this particular wide angle lens and wanted some of that strangeness that the movie The Favourite captured so beautifully.
And I'm pretty pleased with the photos at least, so I thought I'd share them!
