Japan Trip 2011, Day 3, 01/19/11- The expectation of the Japanese is when bathing the body must be up to the neck under warm water. The only thing that lags behind in Japan in terms of quality are Japanese homes, every Japanese dwelling has a tub that allows full body emersion under warm water. First, one must wash with hot soapy water outside the pool of hot mineral water. After thouroughly rinsing, one can enter the pool for a relaxing bath. The cardinal sin is for soapy residue to enter the pool due to not rinsing completely.
For weekend getaways or day trips in Japan, Tokyoites flock to the nearby hot springs with one being in the beach town of Atami, Shizuoka. From Tokyo, the preferred mode of travel is by bullet train with a commute time of only 45 minutes.
Bathing, scenic views of the ocean and experiencing life at a slower pace than in Tokyo is only part of the experience. One overnight stay includes two meals with the evening meal being a 10-course meal of Japanese signature dishes with Atami's claim beings butterfly-cut Spanish Maceral (Aji no hiraki).

Hotel Resorpia Atami offers rooms overlooking the Sagami Sea, with a Japanese-style seating area. It features a hot spring bath, 3 restaurants and a karaoke bar. The hotel has a games corner, and free Wi-Fi is provided at the lobby.
Carpeted rooms feature 2 single beds, a TV and a fridge. The Japanese-style area features a low table with seating cushions on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms have a table with chairs and an en suite bathroom.
Guests can recline in the public hot spring bath, which is separate per gender. Hotel Resorpia also offers a souvenir shop, drinks vending machines and a mah-jong room. Japanese chess or igo can be borrowed, and free parking is available upon reservation.
The hotel provides a free shuttle from Atami Station, a 10-minute drive or 15-minute walk away. The Resorpia is a 35-minute walk from the Atami Golf Club, while both the Moa Museum of Art and amusement park Atami korakuen Yuenchi Apio are a 25-minute drive.

HD movie of the fireworks festival held in Atami Shizuoka Japan in Aug 2012.
It was 30 minutes fireworks festival and relatively short as Japanese fireworks festival. But it was really impressive and exciting to see the fireworks so closely!!
There was reserved area to see the fireworks for the guests who stay in Japanese Onsen Hotels of Atami area and the place was not crowded.
You should see the Atami fireworks if you have a chance to go to Atami when the festival is held.
