Atami Plum Garden is located in Atami city Shizuoka Japan and about 2 hours from Tokyo. There are many kinds of plum trees and many view points including Umemi no Taki waterfalls.

Hi everyone! This is Dada and Kevin, our second geo vlog is finally up after a long wait! From end November to early December, we embarked on an exciting trip to Japan to enjoy the scenic autumn, here are some great memories that we would like to share, come on in!
For our second vlog, we will be focusing our day trip to Atami at Shizuoka Prefecture. The day trip is a continuation of our trip from Kawaguchiko, as we travelled all the way south through the highway bus. Atami is a cool little onsen town with a great view. Some of the scenic spots we have visited include the Atami Ekimae Shopping Street, Omiya no Matsu, Atami Beach, Rosa dos Ventos and Atami Castle.

► As much as April is Sakura-time, February is Ume-time - the first sign of spring in Japan, and that's what I'm gonna show you in this little video: Ume blossom in Atami Baien garden in Shizuoka.
Atami Baien is one of the most popular destinations in central Japan to watch Ume blossom, it is located roughly halfway between Hakone and Mount Fuji. It can be reached from central Tokyo by either a 2 hours & 10 minutes ride on a local train (1900￥), or in 38 minutes by Shinkansen (3500￥/unreserved seat) from Tokyo Station.
It's a great place for a stroll and a great opportunity to get the camera out of its bag. So that's what I did, and I was really lucky with the weather on that particular day, 18 degrees and a blue sky. I hope you'll like the result. - Enjoy!

In Japanese hot spring sightseeing spot Atami, Mt.Kurotake of 798m is it in altitude.
I can go by bus from Atami Station. I can look at a panorama magnificent in a day.
I see Mount Fuji in front, too.

We made our trip on the ordinary weekday, Tuesday, and to our astonishment, the train was full of people who were aiming the same spots we did. Most of the passengers were ladies, who really have good taste for joyful life, while their husbands working hard for early morning till late night.
We made our first stop at Atami, Shizuoka prefecture, which is famous by at least two things – hot spring resorts and MOA Museum of Art. The Museum was founded in 1982 in a memory of art collector Mokichi Okada, and now contains several National treasures. Mokichi Okada was also known as philosopher and researcher, who created his own ideas of true and ideal civilization. His ideas were based on harmony with Nature, and respect of spiritual side of the Earth. He was a pioneer in promoting organic agriculture, so his followers in Japan and abroad are still devoted to his ideas of Harmony and Spirituality of Nature, organic food and prosperity.
The MOA Museum of Art is one of good samples of Mokichi’s principles: impressive postmodern building is constructed on the hill faced to the ocean side and has a fantastic view of the sea. It has very convenient access with frequent buses from Atami station, and inside museum the long escalators take you upwards in a very comfortable and relaxing way.
MOA Museum holds one of the national treasures – the famous masterpiece of Japanese painter of Edo period Korin Ogata ‘White and Red Plum Blossoms”. This painting is a heart of Mokichi’s collection, and always attracts the maximum attention of public. Plum trees are separated by a stream and symbolize the human’s life – wide and strong in the beginning, and narrowing to its end. Red Plum Tree reflects a young and strong spirit of life, while White Plum’s crooked branches convey the image of old and tired person, weak but wise.
However, in February there was a special exhibition, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of painter’s death. So, MOA Museum displayed for public the big amount of other precious masterpieces of Korin and other artists of so called Rinpa School of paintings, borrowed from different museums and private collections, such as “Wing God and Thunder God Screen”, “Irises and Bridge”, “Iris”, “Eight-Planked Bridge”.
Famous replica of Tawaraya Sotatsu’s “Wind God and Thunder God Screen” always attracts much attention of public, because the play of Fuujin and Raijin became very famous theme in Japanese Art. The visitors of Sensoji Temple in Asakusa can see those two Gods inside the Kaminarimon Gates.
It is well-known that the Irises drawn by Korin and his elegant style and taste in colors and composition made great influence on many European impressionists painters, like Van Gogh, Matisse etc., inspiring them to create their own “Iris bunches”.
Korin used only three colors to paint Irises, but those colors became his hand, or special style, same as very unusual composition - irises move in diagonal across the screen, which makes the whole image look vibrating and strikingly dramatic.
So, European artists were inspired by Korin’s Irises and tried to find their own ways to express charm and beauty of these flowers.
