Athirapilly waterfalls in Kerala is 65 km from Cochin and is a 2-hour drive is the largest waterfall in Kerala.
We took the route through Angamaly, and then a right turn on the Mookkannoor-Ezhattumugham road. The route passes through the lush green forests and looks even better during the rain. The beautiful palm tree plantation in this route adds more beauty to the surroundings. This route saves time, distance and we enjoyed the pristine beauty of nature.
After 2 hour drive, we reached Athirapally, after paying for the ticket we entered to visit the fall. We have to walk a little distance into the woods to get a view of the waterfall. And the path is little slippery due to the rains.
The waterfall can be viewed from the top as well as there is a separate way to the downside part of the waterfall for a full view.
So we trekked down first for a closer look at the fall.
This fall is gigantic and is 82 ft high. And it is really tough to stand close to the fall, due to the heavy water shower and the outspreading mist.
This Chalakudy River that cascade down and form this magnificent waterfall appear like Niagra falls. This fall looks even more stunning during the rainy season and literally made me skip a beat with its views.
While returning we also got a chance to have a glimpse at the Giant Indian Squirrel in the jungles.
Later we had a lunch at the nearby restaurant with a waterfall view.
So we had one more last view of the falls while sitting and having lunch.
