Heartwarming video shows the moment Sri Lankan Navy officials rescuing and pushing back about 20 pod of whales after the mammals were washed up on a coast in the island country.
The whales were stranded on the Sampur coast near the port of Trincomalee and officials said the task to push them back in to the deeper waters was a delicate.
It was a happy ending after the whales were pushed back in to the deeper water delicately without hurting them, said Navy spokesman Chaminda Walakuluge.
The naval official was not clear about why the mammals got stranded in the area but noted that the sea was rough due to the effects of Cyclone Mora in the Bay of Bengal.
