Auburn Gallipoli Mosque (Sydney) - Annual Open Day on Sunday 25th September 2011
Open Day at Auburn Gallipoli Mosque on Sunday September 25th 2011. Was raining hard all day. The Mosque has been holding open days for the past 10 years. For anyone interested in learning more about the religion of Islam, this is an event not be be missed. The only request is to dress moderately. As you can see from the video, it's very hospitable and welcoming. Hats off to all those involved in this project, which helps bridge any gaps between different faiths and beliefs. In visiting the house of worship of another religion, which is stepping out of one's comfort zone for many, you expand your thinking, see things anew, and realize we are all the same.

A visit to the beautiful Auburn Islamic Galipoli Mosque. Masjid)
Today a friend and I visited the beautiful Galipoli Mosque in the Sydney suburb of Auburn.
The suburb of Auburn has a high population of Turkish people who came to Australia in the 1960s and 1970s, Auburn is famous also for fine Turkish cuisine.
The Mosque is a truly beautiful building, built in the traditional Ottoman or Turkish style with its domed roof Inside it is marble and is decorated with verses from the Quran and lovely Arabic Calligraphy. You will not find any imagines of humans or animals in Mosques and nothing that will detract from focus on God which in Arabic is Allah.
We spent approximately 3 hours there and had a wonderful young man named Ayoub as our personal guide
Well worth a visit

Auburn As I see it
