The information below is from Wikipedia
The Auckland Harbour Bridge is an eight-lane motorway bridge over the Waitematā Harbour in Auckland, New Zealand. It joins St Marys Bay on the Auckland city side with Northcote on the North Shore side. It is part of State Highway 1 and the Auckland Northern Motorway. The bridge is operated by the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA).[4] It is the second-longest road bridge in New Zealand, and the longest in the North Island.[5]
The original inner four lanes, opened in 1959, are of box truss construction. Two lanes that were added to each side in 1968–1969 are of orthotropic box structure construction[6] and are cantilevered off the original piers. The bridge is 1,020 m (3,348 ft) long, with a main span of 243.8 m, rising 43.27 m above high water,[7] allowing ships access to the deepwater wharf at the Chelsea Sugar Refinery, one of the few such wharves west of the bridge, the proposed Te Atatu port not having been built.[8][citation needed]
While often considered an Auckland icon, criticism has included the nickname of 'coathanger' due to its shape, and complaints that it mimics the Sydney Harbour Bridge in copyist fashion.[9] Many see the construction of the bridge without walking, cycling, and rail facilities as a big oversight. However, in 2016, SkyPath an add-on structure providing a walk-and-cycleway received Council funding approval and planning consent.[10][11]
About 170,000 vehicles cross the bridge each day (2019), including more than 1,000 buses, which carry 38% of all people crossing during the morning peak.[12]

Kinging-It New Zealand Vlog Ep. 38: Auckland | Sky Tower Walk | Auckland Bridge Bungy
What's up y'all!
This week we decided to take an 'oliday!
We popped over to Auckland for the weekend to see our New Zealand family - Toni, Adam and Michael :) - remember, they were the strangers who invited us for dinner! (and we thought they were going to kill us)
We had a blast! From cutting down our own christmas tree to a quick last minute bungy, or two (for Craig obvo) it was a lovely, well needed little break!

Auckland Harbour Bridge - 50th Anniversary
A short celebration of its 50th anniversary, enjoy a little flavour of the history, construction, maintenance and recreation around the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Connecting Auckland's North Shore City with the rest of the isthmus' metropolitan area, the bridge was originally opened on the 30th of May, 1959.
The 1.2km structure (about the length of ten football pitches) is actually made up of three bridges. The section in the middle with the steep arches and flags on top, is the original four-lane 'truss' bridge that was built over four years by a team of 1000 men at a cost of over $6 million dollars.
The base of the six piers (76ft by 46ft), filled with 7,500 tons of concrete, support over 6,000 tons of steel.
Within a relatively short time it was apparent that the bridge would not be able to cope with the rapidly growing North Shore population (within a year 4.9 million vehicles had crossed the bridge and by 1965 traffic had risen to 9.3 million). The decision was made to extend the bridge from four to eight lanes to increase capacity and ease congestion.
This was done by adding two box girder bridges to each side of the bridge at a cost of $7.4 million. Designed and manufactured in Japan they instantly became known as the Nippon clip-ons and opened to traffic on the 23rd of September 1969.
Since then traffic volumes have continued to rise, to over 56 million vehicles last year.
The most important bridge in New Zealand, it is one of the best maintained anywhere in the world. From day one comprehensive maintenance has been carried out and over the years there have been a number of major upgrades including seismic, wind loading and fatigue crack upgrades.
In addition to its traffic purpose, recreational visitors can climb the bridge to walk over it to its summit and/or bungy jump from it.

4K Auckland Harbour NEW ZEALAND ニュージーランド 紐西蘭 Part1
Auckland City is the part of Auckland urban area covering the isthmus and most of the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. The core of Auckland City is the Auckland CBD, a major financial and commercial centre, surrounded by many suburbs. It was formerly the name of a local authority district that was governed by Auckland City Council; it lay within the wider Auckland Region, which was governed by Auckland Regional Council. Auckland City was disestablished as a local government district on 1 November 2010, when Auckland City Council was amalgamated with other councils of the Auckland Region into the new Auckland Council.
Waitematā Harbour is the main access by sea to Auckland, New Zealand. For this reason it is often referred to as Auckland Harbour, despite the fact that it is one of two harbours adjoining the city. The harbour forms the northern and eastern coasts of the Auckland isthmus and is crossed by the Auckland Harbour Bridge. It is matched on the southern side of the city by the shallower waters of the Manukau Harbour.
