Auckland Zoo with Laura Hunter | Auckland
Escape the everyday and immerse yourself in the unique surrounds of Auckland Zoo.
Auckland Zoo is home to the largest collection of native and exotic animals in New Zealand, set in 17 hectares of lush parkland and just minutes from central Auckland.
Auckland Zoo is on Motions Road, just west of downtown Auckland and next to the beautiful Western Springs Reserve and Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT). MOTAT's tram network provides a link between both attractions.
One of the great things about visiting the Zoo is that you see and experience different things each time, this may include seeing Burma, the Asian elephant going for a walk around the Zoo with her keepers, or a newly born animal for the first time!

Auckland Zoo/bmpcc// New Zealand
Auckland Zoo is a 16.35-hectare (40-acre) zoological garden in Auckland, New Zealand, situated next to Western Springs park not far from Auckland's central business district. It is run by the Auckland Council with the Zoological Society of Auckland as a supporting organisation.
Auckland Zoo opened in 1922 experiencing early difficulties mainly due to animal health issues. By 1930 a sizeable collection of animals had been assembled and a zoological society formed. The zoo consolidated during the Second World War and was at that time under the leadership of Lt. Col. Sawer. After the war the collection was expanded, and in the 1950s chimpanzees were acquired to provide tea parties for the public's entertainment, but this practice ceased in 1964. In 1973 the zoo expanded into the adjacent Western Springs park. From the late 1980s to the present day, many old exhibits were phased out and replaced by modern enclosures. In 2011 the zoo opened its largest development, Te Wao Nui, which exhibits native New Zealand flora and fauna.
The zoo is separated loosely into areas defined by the region of origin of the species exhibited, its taxonomy, or by biome. The zoo plays a part in conservation (mainly of New Zealand species), research and education. It has many modern features such as the New Zealand Centre for Conservation Medicine (NZCCM).

Auckland Zoo - Gangnam Style - Auckland Fish Market - New Zealand - Day 5
Visited Auckland Zoo, did the gangnam style and ate at the Auckland Fish Market. Our sad last day in New Zealand.
It rained on our last day! I interpret it as New Zealand crying because we are leaving, HAHA! Morning started with a light drizzle of rain, then it down poured like crazy! It ruined our trip to the zoo. Didn't want to get drenched.
After she suggested we go shopping, I cringed and quickly mentioned the Auckland fish market. Saved! It worked, she agreed. Quickly drove to the market before she changes her mind. She's notorious at it.
Auckland fish market had some nice restaurants surrounding it. Although the fish cocktails we ordered wasn't the best I have ever had, it wasn't a slouch either. Tasted great. After eating, the rain stopped! Oh my Christ! I was so happy, it just meant we can walk outside and not stay indoors for the rest of the day. On to our next New Zealand adventure.
Auckland Zoo is very big, it wasn't as packed. Maybe because it was on a weekday and it just rained cats and dogs. There was still rain, but sprinkles. We got to see some really endangered species at 3:44! Sadly we didn't see the Kiwi bird, there were children in there and they were so loud. Apparently noise scares Kiwis. That was disappointing. Other than that, it turned out to be a really good day. It's great to see the Auckland Zoo, recommended.
After that we returned our hired car and got driven to the Auckland International airport.
Met a very interesting fellow who migrated to New Zealand 15 years ago. He was quite adamant about how bad the public transport is in New Zealand. Noting that there are so many cars on the road. He also stated that the population of New Zealand is booming at a high rate. So the public transport has to be really prioritized by the government.
We said goodbye to our driver and checked in. Very sad to leave New Zealand, it's such a beautiful country and we had heaps of fun.
Goodbye New Zealand, hope to see you again soon.
Thanks for watching and travel safe guys!

We visited the Auckland zoo in December 2018. Auckland Zoo is a great place for the family, especially for young children. There are many educational programmes within the zoo and also many fun activities to do.
The information below is from Wikipedia,

Like other atelines, they are found in tropical forests of Central and South America, from southern Mexico to Brazil. The genus contains seven species, all of which are under threat; the black-headed spider monkey and brown spider monkey are critically endangered.

Auckland domain, Auckland city, New Zealand
Auckland domain, New Zealand, long version
We went to Auckland domain to see the cherry blossom trees in the early October.
Auckland Domain is the oldest park in Auckland and is located in the central city. The two main popular attractions located in Auckland domain are the Auckland Museum and the Winter Garden.
The information below is from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Auckland Domain is Auckland's oldest park, and at 75 hectares one of the largest in the city. Located in the central suburb of Grafton, the park contains all of the explosion crater and most of the surrounding tuff ring of the Pukekawa volcano.
The park is home to one of Auckland's main tourist attractions, the Auckland War Memorial Museum, which sits prominently on the crater rim (tuff ring). Several sports fields occupy the floor of the crater, circling to the south of the cone, while the rim opposite the Museum hosts the cricket pavilion and Auckland City Hospital. The Domain Wintergardens, with two beautiful glass houses, lie on the north side of the central scoria cone. The fernery has been constructed in an old quarry in part of the cone. The duck ponds lie in the northern sector of the explosion crater, which is breached to the north with a small overflow stream.

Meet Auckland Zoo's Director, Kevin!
Meet our wonderful director, Kevin!
He’s an inspiring leader with a strong vision. We recently sat down with him to discuss his start in conservation science at a young age, and how his work with an endangered frog really cemented his life’s journey and passion to help save wildlife and wild places.
Now, more than ever, it’s essential that we connect amazing people just like you, with amazing wildlife. As Kevin says, “a good modern zoo is more relevant than ever. Zoos on their own are not going to save wildlife and save this planet, but the people that visit zoos, the people that connect with good zoo’s will….”
