Audley End House / Essex UK
The impressive house that can be seen today is only about a third the size of the vast mansion created in about 1605–14 by Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk. It retains much of its original character, and contains fine Robert Adam and Jacobean revival interiors. The gardens and landscape, shaped by various owners to complement the house, reflect many changes in English garden fashion.
Pałac przeszedł z powrotem w ręce Earlów Suffolk w 1701 i stopniowo, w przeciągu następnego stulecia, został częściowo rozebrany, do rozmiarów, jakie posiada obecnie.
W 1762 jeden z kolejnych właścicieli, Sir John Griffin, późniejszy czwarty baron Howard de Walden i pierwszy Baron Baybrooke wynajął Capability Browna do przeprowadzenia gruntownej rearanżacji założenia parkowego i szkockiego architekta Roberta Adama do przebudowy pałacu.
Gen.

Audley End Miniature Railway Easter Special
We visited the Audley End Miniature Railway for their Easter Special. The ride on the little train takes you through beautiful woodland and over streams and a river and in the woods there was a special Easter surprise! There was a craft tent, mini-train, small cafe, play and picnic area and an Easter Trail through the woods.
We all enjoyed ourselves and it was great to see the miniature steam engine chugging through the woods. Watch out for the surprise!

Audley End Miniature Railway Picnic Area
Audley End House - Saffron Walden
The beautiful Audley End House which was originally Walden Abbey, a Benedictine priory founded in about 1139. The land sits around the River Cam and was on the original London to Cambridge road. When Henry VIII broke with Rome, all religious houses in England were dissolved – Walden Abbey surrendered on 22nd March 1538. Five days later, Henry granted it to Sir Thomas Audley, and created him Baron Audley of Walden
Playscheme's Play Area at Audley End House, Essex
Playscheme designed, manufactured and installed the new play area at English Heritage owned property; Audley End House.
The Play area comprimises a carved wooden horse with cart, springy horses, rocking hors, tunnel, swings and see-saw, together with a mini-Audley End playhouse.
The play area complimented the larger investment project at Audley End which entailed opening up of the stables building with exhibition space and the stabling of horses.
This new area has been extremely well recieved and and has gone towards making Audley End more family-friendly. It's given visitors more reasons to return and helped with membership sales.
