Augusta Western Australia
Augusta is 320 kilometres south-west of Perth, Western Australia facing the Southern and Indian Oceans at Cape Leeuwin on the shores of Hamelin Bay and mouth of the Blackwood River.
A small town but well worth a visit for the beautiful views of the coastline and the history of the area with the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and Water Wheel just to name a few.
AUSTRALIA - Round Tour - Perth - Port Augusta - Alice Springs - Uluru - Olgas - Kalgoorlie – Perth
The footage for this film was recorded in Sep-Oct 2014, and this edit-version is from May 2018.
The 8750 km and other distances reported were my estimates based on Google Maps information. The real length of the journey was 9766 kilometres however, with an average of 250 km per day.
So apparently there was 1016 km more local driving than already taken into account in the estimate.
The total length in time was 39 days, from 20th of September until 28th of October 2014.

Port Augusta (Things to do - Places to Visit) - PORT AUGUSTA Top Tourist Places
City in Australia
Port Augusta is a small city in South Australia. Formerly a seaport, it is now a road traffic and railway junction city mainly located on the east coast of the Spencer Gulf immediately south of the gulf's head and about 322 kilometers north of the state capital, Adelaide.
Port Augusta has been able to capitalize on the growing eco-tourism industry due to its proximity to the Flinders Ranges. The Pichi Richi Railway is a major drawcard, connecting Port Augusta to Quorn via the Pichi Richi Pass.
Within Port Augusta is the City of Port Augusta's Wadlata Outback Centre, providing tourists with an introduction to life in the Australian outback.

Margaret River - Western Australia
Check out our new series on the Margaret River area where we visit many places we have never seen before.
Margaret River is a pretty little town almost half way between Busselton and Augusta. The town has been over commercialised in the past few years and is a haven for yuppie types who have been mainly responsible for the huge increase in prices in the vineyards nearby. Commercial wine making came to the area in 1967 with the establishment of Vasse Felix, but it wasn't until the 1980s when wine became more acceptable in Australia, that the industry really saw a massive increase.

Karridale and Hamelin Bay
Karridale is a beautiful, small township in the south-west of Western Australia located between Margaret River and Augusta on the Bussell Highway just 3 and half hours from the Perth CBD.
With a population of some 300 people, Karridale is rich in history as it was once the centre of the state’s timber industry.
With Boranup Forest and its magnificent karri trees, to open farmland and outstanding beaches, such as Hamelin Bay, Karridale is a delightful destination with stunning views, places of interest and many hidden things to do in a relaxing country atmosphere

Peaceful Bay Caravan Park - Western Australia
As the name suggests, this is a magic spot in southern Western Australia. Well worth the 20km or so detour off the main highway, the park has a very casual feel! They also claim to have the best fish and chips in this part of the world, something we will have to return to find out as we missed out this time.
