Aung Puppet show, Nyaung Shwe. Myanmar
Some traditional Puppetry from Inle Lake, Burma. Check our the Moustache brothers video for the same dancing and costume. He uses a very old tape to introduce each puppet and explain the dance, with very clear 'old fashioned' BBC English.

Traditional Puppet Show (The Alchemist/Magician) @ Nyaung Shwe, Myanmar
The Alchemist/Magician (Zaw Gyi) performance at Aung traditional puppet show in Nyaung Shwe.
His dance steps and acrobatic leaps are fast and complicated. Any puppeteer who handle this marionette well is regarded as a master of art, able to handle any puppet. Thus to be called a good Zaw-handler is highest praise for a puppeteer. in

Burmese Puppet Theatre: Dance of the Zawgyi (Zaw-ga)
The Zawgyi is a superhero of Burmese myth and legend. Not only can he fly, he can bore his way underground. Leading the life of a hermit in the forest, he spends his time on the bellows turning base metal into gold in search of the philosopher's stone, and collecting and grinding medicinal herbs. He wears a beard, a flaming red robe and cap, and carries a magic staff.
Live entertainment of traditional dances at Karaweik Hall & Restaurant on the shore of Kandawgyi (Royal Lakes) in Yangon, Burma, filmed in January 2007.
