Tomb of Aurangzeb (Mughal emperors)
The Tomb of Aurangzeb, the last of the great Mughal emperors, is located in Khuldabad, Maharashtra, India. Aurangzeb is buried in an unmarked grave at the complex of the dargah or shrine of Sheikh Zainuddin.
Aurangzeb (1618–1707), who was the sixth Mughal emperor, ruled most of the Indian subcontinent for half a century until he died in 1707. According to his wish, he was buried near the dargah of Sheikh Zainuddin, his spiritual guru. His great grand father emperor Akbar ruled 50 years
Location
The tomb is located in the village of Khuldabad, in the district of Aurangabad, 24 kilometres (15 mi) from Aurangabad city. It is located in the south-eastern corner of the complex of the dargah of Sheikh Zainuddin.
Aurangzeb's Tomb, with marble jaali (latticed screen) around it.
Description
Aurangzeb died in 1707 at Ahmednagar. His body was then carried to Khuldabad after his son Azam Shah and daughter Zinat-un-Nissa came. There is a platform over the tomb made of red stone, less than three yards in length. There is also a cavity in the middle which measures a few fingers. The tomb has been covered with soil on which herbs grow. After his burial, he was given the posthumous title of Khuld-makan (he whose abode is in eternity). Lord Curzon later covered the site with marble and surrounded it with a pierced marble screen. The tomb is roofed by the vault of the sky. The gateway and the domed porch were added in 1760.
It is said that Aurangzeb paid for his burial place by stitching caps during his last years and that it cost only 14 rupees and 12 annas. The tomb is remarkably simple in keeping with Aurangzeb's own wishes. Aurangzeb's full name is written on a marble plate located in one of the corners of the tomb.
The dargah also houses the tomb of the first Nizam, Asaf Jah I, his son Nasir Jung, and those of Aurangzeb's son Azam Shah and his wife.
Aurangzeb Tomb
The Great and the last Mughal ruler Aurangzeb who spent the last 25 years in the Deccan was according to his will buried in the courtyard of the tomb of Shaikh Zainuddin at Rauza in sepulchre built by the Emperor in his own life time. On Friday, 21st February, Aurangzeb died and after Prince Azam Shah his son arrived on Saturday, 22nd February, 1707, Aurangzeb's body was carried to Khuldabad.
Originally, the tomb consisted only of a wooden slab. Since then the tomb has been embellished in 1921, the Nizam of Hyderabad and Lord Curzon had it covered with marble and surrounded with a pierced marble screen. But a patch of earth with a small sabza plant remains on top, it is covered with a plain white sheet, and it is still roofed only by the vault of the sky.

Aurangzeb ki vasiyat
friends, Emperor Aurangzeb of India's Mughal Dynasty (November 3, 1618–March 3, 1707) was a ruthless leader who, despite his willingness to take the throne over the bodies of his brothers, went on to create a golden age of Indian civilization. An orthodox Sunni Muslim, he reinstated taxes and laws penalizing Hindus and imposing Sharia law. At the same time, however, he greatly expanded the Mughal empire and was described by his contemporaries as being disciplined, pious, and intelligent.

Bibi ka Maqbara | Mini Taj Mahal | Aurangzeb Wife Tomb | Aurangabad
The Bibi Ka Maqbara (English:Tomb of the Lady) is a tomb located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. It was commissioned by the sixth Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1660 in the memory of his first wife and chief consort Dilras Banu Begum (posthumously known as Rabia-ud-Daurani). It bears a striking resemblance to the famous Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Aurangzeb's mother, Mumtaz Mahal. It is notable that Aurangzeb never raised monumental edifices during his half-a-century reign, but made just one exception, that is, to build the mausoleum of his wife. He was not very interested in architecture, though he had built the small, but elegant, Pearl Mosque at Delhi. The Bibi Ka Maqbara was the largest structure that Emperor Aurangzeb had to his credit.

Aurangzeb was a notable expansionist and during his reign, the Mughal Empire reached its greatest extent, ruling over nearly all of the Indian subcontinent.[7] During his lifetime, victories in the south expanded the Mughal Empire to 4 million square kilometres,[8] and he ruled over a population estimated to be over 158 million subjects,[7] with an annual yearly revenue of $450 million (more than ten times that of his contemporary Louis XIV of France),[9] or £38,624,680 (2,879,469,894 rupees) in 1690.[10][11][citation needed] Under his reign, India surpassed China once again to become the world's largest economy, worth over $90 billion, nearly a quarter of world GDPin 1700.[12]
Aurangzeb has been subject to controversy and criticism[13] for his policies that abandoned his predecessors' legacy of pluralism and religious tolerance, citing his introduction of the Jizya tax, destruction of Hindu temples, execution or forced conversion of his non-muslim subjects to Islam and execution of the ninth Sikh guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur. [14][15][a] while a minority of historians question this, arguing that his destruction of temples has been exaggerated,[16][13] and noting that he also built temples,[17] also destroyed Islamic mosques, paid for the maintenance of temples,[18] employed significantly more Hindus in his imperial bureaucracy than his predecessors did, and opposed bigotry against Hindus and Shia Muslims.[19]
It was at the end of his reign that the downfall of the Mughal Empire began due to his policy of religious intolerance. Rebellions and wars eventually led to the exhaustion of the imperial Mughal treasury and army. He was a strong-handed authoritarian ruler, and following his death the expansionary period of the Mughal Empire came to an end. Nevertheless, the contiguous territory of the Mughal Empire

Aurangzeb’s Tomb located in the village of Khuldabad, Tomb of Aurangzeb marks the burial ground of Aurangzeb; the last of the great Mughal emperors. During 1680, after the death of Shivaji (a great Maratha ruler), Aurangzeb won entire empire and brought it under his rule. He established his kingdom near Bhingar and remained there until death at the age of 91, in the year 1707. Aurangzeb’s Tomb was designed and constructed by Aurangzeb himself, after he entered Deccan despite of continuous intimidation by the Marathas, which later became his burial ground. In the same tomb complex, one can see the mausoleum of Aurangzeb’s second son, Azam Shah, and his wife. Originally, the tomb consisted of the wooden slab with the Persian inscription.
Unlike the other great Mughal emperors, Aurangzeb didn't have a pompous burial and was kept simple as per his wishes. His name is still there at one of the corner of the tomb, scribbled on a marble plate. It is said that Aurangzeb funded his own burial by knitting caps and copying the Quran, during the last days of his life. In the same tomb complex, one can see the mausoleum of Aurangzeb’s second son, Azam Shah, and his wife. He also wished to be buried near the dargah of his Spiritual guru; Sheikh Zainuddin.
Originally, the tomb consisted of the wooden slab with the Persian inscription. Later in 1920, the tomb was renovated with high-end marble screen and floor by Nizam on the request of Lord Curzon. On ceremonial occasions, Aurangzeb's grave is draped with richly embroidered cloth.
After his burial, Aurangzeb earned a title of ‘Khuld-makan’- one whose abode is in eternity. The Aurangzeb’s Tomb carries immense historical significance and calls for a must visit for the tourists of Ahmednagar.

TOMB OF MALIK AMBER
Malik became a popular Prime Minister of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate,On the 14th of May 1626, at the grand old age of 80, Malik Ambar, the man who turned the little village of Khadki into the city we now know as Aurangabad,The tomb of Malik Ambar is to the North of the town of Khuldabad, about 100 metres to the west of the Dargah of the Muslim saint Shaykh Zar Zari Zar Baksh. The impressive domed monument was built by Malik Ambar’s himself. Built of pinkish Basalt, it stands on a raised plinth. Three-lobed arches are set into each side of the monument. The central arch on each side contains a jaali screen with finely cut geometric patterns. A line of smaller arches is seen on the upper level, above which is a projecting cornice or “chajja” supported by ornate stone brackets. At each corner is a minaret, made to look like a miniature pavilion. Stylised palm leaves decorate the parapet while a line of petals runs around the drum of the flattish dome which I found painted white. died in 1626 at the age of 80.

Malik Ambar (1548 – 13 May 1626) was an Ethiopian military leader in the Deccan region of India.
Malik Ambar

Malik Ambar of Ahmadnagar [1][2]
Birth nameChapu[3]Born1548[3]
Kambata[3]Died11 May 1626 (aged 77–78)AllegianceNizam Shah of Ahmednagar
Sold as a child by his parents, Malik was brought to India as a slave. While in India he created a mercenary force numbering up to 1500 men. It was based in the Deccan region and was hired by local kings. Malik became a popular Prime Minister of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate, showing administrative acumen. He is also regarded as a pioneer in guerilla warfare in the region. He is credited with carrying out a revenue settlement of much of the Deccan, which formed the basis for subsequent settlements. He is a figure of veneration to the Siddis of Gujarat. He humbled the might of the Mughals and Adil Shah of Bijapur and raised the low status of the Nizam Shah.[4][5]
Early lifeEdit
Malik Ambar was born in 1548 as Chapu, a birth-name suggesting that he was born in the Hararregion in Eastern Ethiopia.[3]
Between the 14th and 17th centuries, the Christian Abyssinian Kingdom (led by the Solomonic dynasty) and adjacent Muslim states gathered much of their slaves from non-Abrahamic communities inhabiting regions like Kambata, Damot and Hadya, which were located on the southern flanks of their territory. Malik Ambar was among the people who were converted to Islam, and later dispatched abroad to serve as a warrior.[3] Both the Solomonic dynasty and the Adal Sultanate were devastated after two decades of war with each other. According to the Futuhat-i `adil Shahi, Malik Ambar was sold into slavery by his parents. He ended up in al-Mukha in Yemen, where he was sold again for 20 ducats and was taken to the slave market in Baghdad, where he was sold a third time to the Qadi al-Qudat of Mecca and again in Baghdad to Mir Qasim al-Baghdadi, who eventually took him to south-central India. He was described by the Dutch merchant Pieter van den Broecke as, a black kafir from Abyssinia with a stern Roman face.[6][7]
CareerEdit
Malik Ambar was the regent of the Nizamshahi dynasty of Ahmednagar from 1607 to 1626. During this period he increased the strength and power of Murtaza Nizam Shah and raised a large army. He changed the capital from Paranda to Junnar and founded a new city, Khadki which was later on changed to Aurangabad by the Emperor Aurangzebwhen he invaded Deccan around 1658 to 1707.
Malik Ambar is said to be the one of proponent of guerrilla warfare in the Deccan region. Malik Ambar assisted Shah Jahan wrestle power in Delhi from his stepmother, Nur Jahan, who had ambitions of seating her son-in-law on the throne. Malik Ambar and Shahaji (father of Shivaji) had also restored some credibility to the Sultans of Ahmadnagar, who had been subdued by the earlier Mughals (Akbar had annexed Ahmadnagar).[8]However, he was defeated later when Khurram, son of Jahangir led a massive army against the dwindling Ahmednagar. Later Malik Ambar offered full control of Berar and Ahmadnagar to the Mughal as a sign of surrender[9]
Second conflict with MughalEdit
Malik Ambar defeated the Mughal General Khan Khanan many times and often attacked Ahmadnagar. Lakhuji Jadhavrao, Maloji Bhosale, Shahaji Bhosale and other Maratha chiefs had gained great prominence during this period. With the help of these Maratha Chiefs, Malik Ambar had captured Ahmednagar Fort and town from the Mughals. But in one of the battles Malik Ambar was defeated by the Mughals and had to surrender the fort of Ahmadnagar. Many Maratha Chiefs and especially Lakhuji Jadhavrao and Ranoji Wable joined the Mughals after this. Shah Jahan once again laid a crushing blow to Malik Ambar in one of the battles and further decreased his power.
He died in 1626 at the age of 80. Malik Ambar had by his Siddi wife, Bibi Karima two sons; Fateh Khan and Changiz Khan and two daughters.[10][11]
One of his daughters was married to a prince of the Ahmednagar royal family who was later, through Malik Ambar's aid crowned as Sultan Murtaza Nizam Shah II.[
Fateh Khan succeeded his father as the regent of the Nizam Shahs. However, he did not possess his predecessor's political and military prowess. Through were a series of internal struggles within the nobility (which included Fateh Khan assassinating his nephew, Sultan Burhan Nizam Shah III), the sultanate fell to the Mughal Empirewithin ten years of Ambar's death.
The final daughter was married to the CircassianCommander of the Ahmednagar
Nahr water system provided clean water for the people of Aurangabad and its suburbs. It was created by Malik Ambar who founded the town under the name Khadki and was later expanded by Aurangzeb in order to facilitate the military activity that became prevalent under Mughal rule during the 17th century.

*DAULATABAD FORT*
Daulatabad, also known as Devagiri, is a 14th-century fort city in Maharashtra state of India, about 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) northwest of Aurangabad.[1][2][3][4] The place was originally named Devagiri [5][6] when it was an important uplands city along caravan routes (ca. sixth century AD), but the intervening centuries have reduced it to a village. However it is also considered to be one of the seven wonders of Maharashtra and a developing tourist spot.[7][8][9][10]
The historical triangular fort of Daulatabad was built by first Yadava king Bhillama V in 1187.[11]
Starting 1327, it famously remained the capital of Tughlaq dynasty, under Muhammad bin Tughluq (r. 1325-1351), who also changed its name, and forcibly moved the entire population of Delhi for two years before it was abandoned for lack of water and Tughluq was constantly known to shift the capital from Delhi to Daulatabad and Daulatabad to Delhi.[12]
There is a belief that Devagiri was built in 1203 AD by a Dhangar or herdsman who acquired vast wealth by his good fortune. He had a brother who was a shepherd named 'Raja Ram' and in correlation with it he assumed the rank of a Raja (King).[13]
*TOMB OF AURANGZEB*
The Tomb of Aurangzeb, the last of the great Mughal emperors,[2] is located in Khuldabad, Maharashtra, India. In notable contrast to other Mughal tombs, which are large monuments of Mughal architecture, including the Taj Mahal, at his own direction Aurangzeb is buried in an unmarked grave[3] at the complex of the dargah or shrine of Sheikh Zainuddin.
Aurangzeb died in 1707 at Ahmednagar. His body was then carried to Khuldabad after his son Azam Shah and daughter Zinat-un-Nissacame. There is a platform over the tomb made of red stone, less than three yards in length. There is also a cavity in the middle which measures a few fingers. The tomb has been covered with soil on which herbs grow. After his burial, he was given the posthumous title of Khuld-makan (he whose abode is in eternity).[4] Lord Curzon later covered the site with marble and surrounded it with a pierced marble screen. The tomb is roofed by the vault of the sky.[1] The gateway and the domed porch were added in 1760.[1]
It is said that Aurangzeb paid for his burial place by stitching caps during his last years and that it cost only 14 rupees and 12 annas.[1] The tomb is remarkably simple in keeping with Aurangzeb's own wishes. Aurangzeb's full name is written on a marble plate located in one of the corners of the tomb.[1]
The dargah also houses the tomb of the first Nizam, Asaf Jah I, his son Nasir Jung, and those of Aurangzeb's son Azam Shah and his wife.[1]
