No dia 1º de novembro fomos conferir o Smart Illumination 2019 de Yokohama, um evento que surgiu depois do desastre de Fukushima (terremoto, tsunami e acidente na desabilitada usina nuclear), em 2011. O evento apresenta propostas criativas de iluminação e aproveitamento de ítens desperdiçados. Também, estimula a conexão entre as pessoas. Ou seja, prepara a comunidade para uma situação de contingência, assim como o trabalho coletivo. Muito inteligente, muito louvável.❤️
On November 1st we went to check out Yokohama's Smart Illumination 2019, an event that arose after the 2011 Fukushima disaster (earthquake, tsunami and accident at the disabled nuclear power plant). The event presents creative proposals for lighting and harnessing wasted items. Also, it stimulates the connection between people. That is, it prepares the community for a contingency situation, as well as collective work. Very smart, very commendable. ????

Yokohama Intercontinental Grand Hotel - Japanese Suite Room Tour & View 2019
This is our 2nd year in a row in Yokohama Japan. Last year we loved our room at the Intercontinental Yokohama Grand in the Japanese Suite, so we booked it again this year.

To our surprise, this year's Japanese Suite was smaller with a better more functional layout. The view was not as panoramic as last year and the angle toward the Cosmo Ferris wheel was not as nice. And the bathroom was a Japanese Ofuro style (which we like!) but no view (unlike the nice view of Yokohama harbor in last year's room with Western Style bath). Keep this in mind as you will be able to see photos of the room when making your reservations.

The location of the Yokohama Intercontinental cannot be beat and the views of the room are beautiful especially at night. See the ending of the view for night view of the Cosmo Ferris Wheel. It is central and easily walkable to all the Yokohama has to offer. And it is right next to the Yokohama Pacifico Convention Center.
There are lots of shopping nearby and in my opinion, it is the best city for kids with tons to do. See our other videos of easy itinerary's your children will LOVE!

Yokohama Landmark Tower - One of the TOP 10 Fastest Elevators in the World
The Yokohama Landmark Tower is the second tallest building and 4th tallest structure in Japan, standing 296.3 m (972 ft) high. Work on the building was finished in 1993. The elevator directly reaches to the observation deck on 69th floor - Sky Garden, from which one can see a 360-degree view of the city, and on clear days Mount Fuji. The elevator reaches speed of 12.5 m/s (41 ft/s) (45.0 km/h (28.0 mph)). This speed allows the elevator to reach the 69th floor in approximately 40 seconds.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave an address before the Philippine Economic Forum held at the Convention Hall of Prince Park Tower Tokyo Hotel in Japan.
In his speech, the President said that Japan has been the Philippines' top trading partner and that the ties between the two countries will continue to be a priority for the Philippines.
We count on Japan to further extend its valuable support in our pursuits for promoting rural development, increasing agriculture productivity, accelerating infrastructure spending and investing in human capital development,” he said.
These economic development thrusts, he explained, are significant in nurturing the lives of the Filipino people, and that the Philippines is now open for more investors from Japan.
At present, we are putting in place policies aimed at ensuring stability in the macro-economic policies, increasing competitiveness, improving ease of doing business, increasing spending in crucial infrastructure and investing further in the human capital development, he said.
President Duterte expressed the Philippine government’s appreciation for Japan's role in the peacebuilding efforts in Mindanao that is geared towards the attainment of a more peaceful life in the country and putting an end to poverty.
He pointed out that the country has to decentralize growth by way of developing the agriculture sector specifically in rural areas that are more dependent to crop growing and food production. He said that Japan has the capability to be a reliable partner of the Philippines for this objective because of its resources and expertise.
The Philippine Economic Forum was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry, in cooperation with other government agencies of the Philippines.

These are three of the twelve beautiful scenic elevators at the SOGO Chiba Department Store located near JR Chiba Station in Chiba Prefecture, Greater Tokyo, Japan. The SOGO department store in Chiba was opened on 21st March 1967, originally, while it was renovated around the late 1980s (1987). Other SOGO Department stores in Chiba opened in Shinmachi in 1992-93, while the current SOGO department store that is still operating today was once the biggest in the world, with the 4-building system.
It became the region's first store in the second year of opening, and turned profitable as early as the third year
In 2001, 13 companies merged with Sogo group. Along with that, the store name was changed to the Sogo Chiba store.
After the bankruptcy, Bee-One, who had moved to Tsukamoto Ochi Chiba Building, became the owner and owner of the building and became the owner and owner of Bee-One, and the name of Bee-One was no longer used. The Yodobashi Camera has become a tenant building that houses etc.. The Sogo Chiba Store moved to its current location and owned its own building.
