Tromso Norway Northern lights whale safari 4K
I spent 4 days in Norway to see the Northern lights. I was so lucky on second day I took a guide and drive around 2 hours to find a clear sky to see the Northern lights. So on that night I was lucky to see it the whole night and it was an amazing feeling. After 4 hours of sleep I was on the whale safari and that was another awesome feeling to see them in the wildness. On another day I was up to Tromso with the cable car to see them above Tromso and again very lucky to see. :)

Aubrey was a Speech-Language Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don't know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!

????????Chasing Lights in Tromsø, Norway
Thomas Hunger is an average German fellow but with a touch of quirkiness—his obsession with the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). He beams with childish enthusiasm and his eyes light up with wonder every time he talks about this natural phenomenon.
But Thomas is not a visitor seeing it for the first time nor is he just a regular tour guide—Thomas “chases” Aurora like a stormchaser would chase tornados. He is in the business of selling the experience of seeing the Northern Lights even though he can never guarantee his guests that he and his team will succeed catching one. Still, his trips are filled with excitement and frenzy as he constantly consults weather apps to find it, communicates with his team on possible sightings, and crosses open borders into Sweden and Finland with his head fixed skywards, waiting for Aurora to poke out from behind the clouds at night.
When the van they travel in stops his enthusiastic guests get off and plant a thicket of tripods in the snow—cameras pointed up and ISOs boosted high to vividly capture the magical and undulating green waves in the sky.
Thomas runs one of the most successful companies in Tromsø, Norway incidentally called, Chasing Lights. Guests from as far as Malaysia, China and India make the journey just to be mesmerized by this wash of green that fills the skies of Arctic nights. It’s an experience to cross off the bucket list, his guests often say.

Aurora Borealis, Tromso Norway September 2015
I was privileged to witness the Aurora Borealis, The Northern Lights several times during my stay in Tromso, Norway. There were a few stand out nights above the rest, where the aurora danced across the sky in all it's formations and multitude of colours. This time-lapse is the culmination of those nights. My favourite quote to describe the aurora is by Austrian explorer Julius von Payer, who said No pencil can draw it, no colors can paint it, and no words can describe it in all its magnificence. I'll add to this that no photograph, nor video can truly do justice to the awe and euphoric experience of witnessing the lights with the naked eye, it's something that must be seeing to be believed.
I'd like to give a big thank you to both Gunnar ( and Kjetil ( who were fantastic tour guides and helped make this happen for me... and for introducing me to Norwegian sweets :) .
Music by Enya, track China Roses. Thanks for watching.

Northern Lights
Northern Lights (aurora australis), is a natural light display in the sky often seen in high latitude locations. Mysterious and majestic, the aurora has sparked the curiosity of everyone who has witnessed them.
Every group of people has its own mythological story behind the phenomenon. For the Vikings, the northern lights represented a gateway between heaven and earth called the Bifrost where brave fallen warriors would be led to their resting place in Valhalla.
In Tromso Norway, the Arctic city that has positioned itself to be the preferred destination for the Northern Lights travelers, you will find a perfect tour for northern lights viewing. The city itself has so much more to offer!
During this northern lights trip, you combine a day visit to an ice hotel with whale watching from a sailboat? The city is unique with hosting every reason-to-go above the Arctic circle combined with great international flight connections, expedition museums and a decent choice of intimate restaurants. It has all the modern facilities needed, but the Arctic wilderness is right outside your doorstep.

Tromso Lights - Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in Tromsø, Norway.
Filmed in real time video (no time-lapse) in Full HD1080 during the night of the 8th of October of 2015 in Kvaloya, Tromsø, in the Arctic Norway. An amazing display of northern lights (aurora borealis) happened that night. Filmed with the Sony A7s camera, a real low light monster, with a Canon 50mm f1.4 and Metabones adapter. ISO between 200 and 25600.
No noise reduction, no color correction or sharpening filter at all, everything is edited as it is, straight out from the camera.

Aurora over Tromsø - Arctic Norway northern lights
Experience the unbelievable colours of the northern lights moving across the Arctic sky near Tromsø in northern Norway. Few places on earth offer more ways to witness the aurora borealis than Norway.
It is often said that the northern parts of Norway is the best places in the world to see the northern light. If we are to be honest, that is only partially true, as the lights can be just as visible from destinations outside of Norway. But few countries can rival the vast selection of activities, tours, cruises, restaurants and hotels which all play an important part in this arctic experience.
On a very basic level the northern lights are quite simple to explain. The lights come at night when the sky is dark. It’s like a celestial ballet of light dancing across the night sky, with a colour palette (green, pink, violet) reminiscent of a really cool fashion show.
To the locals in Northern Norway, the northern lights are a part of life. In this area the aurora borealis has been, and still is, a fertile source for art, mythology and legends.
To others, like celebrity scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson, the phenomenon is more of a unique example of just how beautiful science can be. “It’s a curious thing about the universe”, he says, “behind the most stunning sights to behold, lies some of the most challenging problems in physics”.
Some media have reported that scientists expect the lights to fade and appear less frequently over the next ten years. This is not true for Northern Norway though as scientist Truls Lynne Hansen at the Northern Lights Observatory in Tromsø explains: “It is true that we are past the Northern Lights climax and that means that there will be fewer observations around Oslo and further south. But up here under the Northern Lights oval in Northern Norway we will not see any difference, though”.

The Northern Lights usually circle the globe in a circular or elliptical oval centered on the earth's North Magnetic Pole, which is not at the same location as the North Geographic Pole, but rather is slightly offset in the direction of northern Canada. This oval is known as the aurora oval. Aurora displays aren't strongest at the North Magnetic Pole; the area of greatest aurora activity is usually right under the aurora oval, which changes dynamically according to how the solar wind is flowing on any particular night
