Abisko in northern Sweden is considered to be the best place on earth to watch the northern lights. The place is located far above the Arctic Circle where northern lights are more common. Also, due to the fact that the surrounding mountains catch most of the clouds from the Atlantic Ocean, the Abisko area is located in precipitation shadow. Thus the skies are clear most of the time. Massive Aurora 23rd March 2018 Abisko, Sweden
Finished my aurora tours yesterday for Lights Over Lapland and was just about to watch a movie and then this happened outside! An even more crazy aurora than last week. Had to run and grab the camera and filmed this!
Even though a geomagnetic storm has been forecast the Kp score is currently low but this looks like a geomagnetic storm to me. Totally amazing!

Chasing the Aurora Borealis in Abisko, Sweden
I decided to travel to Abisko, Sweden to see the Aurora Borealis, also called the northern lights. This was my first time shooting a time lapse of the aurora and I'm not happy with the results but I did learn a lot so hopefully I'll be better on my next trip.

在瑞典的Abisko搭乘纜車前往極光太空站
位於瑞典拉普蘭 (Swedish Lapland) 的Nuolja mountain上有個極光工作站 (Aurora SkyStation)，據說是觀測極光最佳的地點之一。這次來到Abisko，第一天的天氣非常好，去了趟Abisko國家公園峽谷步道散步，只是到了晚上天氣開始轉差，當天晚上完全盼不到極光。隔天天氣依舊不佳，只好四處走走，同時持續關注 windy.com。上去Aurora Sky Station除了慢慢爬上去外，還可以搭乘纜車前往。考量到再過幾天就是柏林馬拉松舉辨日，得要保留一點體力；但最主要還是考量莊小姐的體力。今天Nuolja山上風很大，但風景仍舊動人，但待太久還是有些難受，跑到Aurora Sky Station裡喝杯啤酒，此時忽然發現 Abisko的台灣人真的不少。
