PA Highlands Trail Network - Q-town Area Trail Planning
Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Network Project Steering Committee is set to begin working with Campbell Thomas & Co. on the development of the Quakertown Area Region Master Trails Plan as part of the larger effort to identify a route for the PA Highlands Trail between the Delaware River and the Maryland border.
Currently, the Highlands Trail traverses the New York Highlands and almost all of the New Jersey Highlands, totaling over 130 miles. The Pennsylvania (PA) Highlands Trail Network will extend the Highlands Trail into the PA Highlands. The PA Highlands span roughly 1.4 million acres from south-central PA at the Maryland border to New Jersey and include parts of 13 counties (Bucks, Montgomery, Northampton, Lehigh, Chester, Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Cumberland, Franklin, Adams, and York).
The intent of the PA Highlands Trail Network is to link existing trails, such as the Horse-Shoe Trail, Mason-Dixon Trail System, Appalachian Trail and others, by creating connections with new trail segments. Loop and spur trails may also be incorporated in order to provide connections to conservation/natural areas, nearby communities, and recreational opportunities. The PA Highlands Trail Network is a collaborative effort between non-profit organizations, public agencies, counties and municipalities, private foundations and other interested groups.
A major goal of the PA Highlands Trail Network is to help increase the conservation of important lands in the PA Highlands, while increasing recreational opportunities to communities in this beautiful region.

Seven Tubs Recreation Area, Wilkes-Barre, PA
The Seven Tubs Recreation Area is located just 4 miles south of downtown Wilkes-Barre and is something that needs to be seen in person. This video does the scenery there no justice. If you ever get a chance to go and see the result of what thousands of years of erosion can do to the landscape, then I recommend you check this place out. Very family friendly and accessible for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

With thunderstorms moving through the night before, I knew the small streams in my area would be prime for some brown trout action. Central Pennsylvania is FULL of small trout streams. I prefer to fish these small streams when they are slightly off color and up just a little. The larger fish tend to stray from their cover in search for food, and it makes sneaking into their home just a little easier.
I decided to use my Tenkara USA Rhodo as a nymphing rod. It is a perfect nymphing rod for these small streams. You have the ability to high stick at 10' 6 BUT if the cover gets a bit to tight you can shorten the rod all the way down to 8'10. I was using an orange Eggstasy egg pattern that I tied in my last video as well as a franchise with a pink collar.
I never realized how hard it was to film yourself fishing, but we gave it a go! Hope you enjoy the video!
25.75 Tobyhanna State Park Pickerel
We had a quick trip end even quicker due to wind. On the way in the boat launch was full so we let the wind push us around and we cast for the hell of it. On one of those casts was my 2nd 25+ inch Pickerel from this lake this year. I have fished this lake for 14 years and 20 inches was my top fish after countless Pickerel catch and releases. This one by far was the chunkiest, set free to get bigger for another day. My Fiance had a solid 18 inch fish on the day as well. Good things happen if you put that time in.
