He recorded and performed for 5 decades. Eddie Tapp toured Australia with the roadshows between 1958 and 1969. Reg Poole - Country Hands Of Fame (Australian Country Music)
The Country Music Hands Of Fame Cornerstone was established, in Tamworth, in 1977...and...not a moment too soon!
Just looking through the names on that initial intake of Aussie country music legends, the sad fact strikes me...most of them have since passed on.
Alan Hawking, Stan Coster, Shorty Ranger, Slim Newton...all of them, no longer with us.
There's Slim, Tex, Reg, Smoky, Thel, Buddy Williams, Buddy Bishop...the list goes on.
This wonderful tribute song was recorded by Reg Poole in that foundation year, 1977.
It was released in Australia on a Selection 45, LRS-020.
The flipside was We Miss You Russell Hawking. which I've also uploaded to YouTube.
The track was written and produced by Eric Watson...Eric, himself, is no longer with us, having passed away in 2012.
In recent years, this track, and a heap of Reg's other early Selection recordings, has been reissued on the excellent CD Vintage Reg...a CD that surely is a 'must have' for any fan of real Aussie country music.
