We Tried Authentic Romanian Food in Transylvania
Today we are trying as much local and authentic Romanian food as we can find whilst we are still travelling through Transylvania.
We started our morning at Castelul Maria where we had a traditional Romanian breakfast consisting of a variety of cheeses and salads.
Where we stayed: Castelul Maria near Corvins Castle:
Our first stop was at the Rosia Montana 2000 year old Roman mines, which was fascinating to go down into as when Rome found this mine - they became so wealthy they removed tax from their citizens for an entire year.
For the rest of the day we headed out to our accommodation for the night - the Hidden Romanian village at Ravens Nest.
That night we had a Romanian Cheese pie and egg with Placinta and pickles
Tour we are on with Romanian Thrills:
Second Hotel: Raven's Nest: The Hidden Village near - Rosia Montana
The next day we headed out and went to the Turda salt mine - Romania's theme park 200 metres inside a salt mine.
We then ended our day in Sibiu
Ending food:
- Ciorba de burta
- Mushrooms stuffed with Romanian Cheese
- Papanasi with sour cream and jam

???????? ROMANIA: Bucharest - National Village Museum & HOHO BUS | TRAVEL VLOG #0148
On my first fill day in Bucharest, I took the Hop-on, Hop-off bus around the city to get my bearings, but about half way through, I got off to visit the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum. This open-air museum contains 272 authentic peasant farm buildings and houses brought from all over Romania. Houses, windmills, barns, and churches from the 18th through the 20th centuries are on display for a very interesting journey into Romania's past.

First Thoughts on Romania | Romania's Most Dangerous Hammock
Welcome to Romania everybody - this is our first time in this country and we have planned a week long road trip through some of the more untouched and beautiful parts of this country.
Check out Vlad and Georgina from Romanian Thrills:
After leaving Kazakhstan at 3am in the morning we arrived in Bucharest - there we were picked up by our guides Vlad and Georgina and we instantly hit the road.
Our first stop was the cute town of Horezu where they do unique pottery designs - especially how they paint the plates - using a cows horn and a birds feather.
As we slowly made our way out to our hotel, we saw some small villages, ancient monastery and Jess tried water from a 200 year old well.
By now the jet lag had officially kicked in by the time we arrived at our hotel, so after a slow morning the adventures began the next day.
We rock climbed a 200 meter cliff side and after the intense hike we went into one of the most dangerous hammocks in the world - and just hung out.
Once we made our way down we went for a dip in a fresh stream and found our new love - Papanasi - the Romanian Cheese Doughnuts and wow we have found our new favorite desert.
After checking out a rainbow Forrest art exhibit we headed to our next hotel - with some slight spooky vibes.
First hotel we stayed at - Hanul Vutra:
Second hotel - Boutique Hotel Danielescu:

???? Frizebad Barbershop Head Massage and Romanian Hair Styling - Bucharest Romania
The second part of our Frizebad Barbershop experience! Frizebad barbershop is situated just around the corner from Pasajul Victoria and the Old Town of Bucharest. The barbershop relocated to this current address after the Bucharest earthquake of 1977.
The interior is a perfect time warp reflecting the Romanian tastes from when it was last renovated in 1981. Surprisingly, original 1930’s barber chairs from Chicago remain. I guess even the might of communist dictators stop when it comes to barber chairs!

Christmas in Romania: Bucharest Christmas Market and Holiday Celebration
A quick tour of the Bucharest Christmas Market. Probably my favorite market in Europe for an authenticity stand point. One of my main issues with other markets is they come off as fake and commercialized. With a lot of vendors selling the exact same thing. Well not here. From the music to the food, everything is Romanian.
