10 Km Hike - Villages Around Autoire
Today I went for a hike from the village of Autoire. I was looking for a waterfall but I must have gone the wrong way. However, I ended up walking through some pretty rural villages and lovely countryside.
Places to see in ( Loubressac - France )
Places to see in ( Loubressac - France )
Loubressac is a wonderful village in the Lot department overlooking the Dordogne valley. It is close to the attractive town of St Ceré. Loubressac is a commune in the Lot department in south-western France. The 1973 movie Quelques messieurs trop tranquilles, directed by Georges Lautner, is set in Loubressac.
Loubressac is the location of the Roman Catholic church Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste or St. John the Baptist Church. As you wind up the hill to the hilltop village of Loubressac you are greeted by the sight of the lovely stone houses with small flowery gardens, brown terracotta roofs and painted shutters - often in shades of burgundy - delightful! The houses are built in a lovely pale gold, almost white stone. The streets wind upwards to the shady square with its church dating from the 12th to 16th centuries.
As you wander round the village you catch glimpses of the surrounding countryside - the valleys of the rivers Dordogne, Cère and Bave, it offers one of the best views of the Dordogne region including views of the Chateaux Castelnau which is near to Bretenoux and which is one of the great castles of France. Loubressac does have a chateau but it is almost impossible to see anything of it other than its imposing gateway. The chateau dates from the 15-17th centuries and its maison des gardes to the 15th century. Loubressac is one of the 'most beautiful villages of France'. It is also rightly proud of its floral endeavors and has won the prizes of 'most beautiful flowering village of the Lot' and 'best flowering village of the Midi-Pyrenees'.
( Loubressac - France ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Loubressac . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Loubressac - France

We stayed for a week in a furnished 17th century house in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne in the Corrèze département of France. The Wars of the Religions, the Hundred Years War, wow, what history in this place! There continues to be a British presence. The Quercy region of France has everything to please and is known for tobacco, corn, walnuts, apples and foie gras. Among other things!
We visited Autoir a few days before returning to look for the waterfalls. Hikers will like these challenging paths. I am disabled so could barely get up here, but I think there is a path to the Château des Anglaises, a fortified troglodyte place, reputed to be a hideout for robbers, also (unconfirmed). Autoir is in a canyon and became a bourgeois place for country residences, going back to the 15th and 16th centuries. Much agricultural commerce was done here, also. The village is still very pretty and has a very good vibe.
From high above, we could see Autoir below. The late Summer green was about to turn. Afternoons were still hot, but mornings misty and cool, evenings quiet, sometimes a bit overcast or rainy.

Panoramic views from Mons, France
Since we were in the area, we decided to take a look at another lovely village called Mons.
The village of Mons is perched on a rocky spur that overlooks deep forested valleys to the south and west, giving it the feeling of solitude with a view. Mons is located on the small D563 road that connects Fayence (13 km and 20 minutes south) with the N85 Route Napoleon (12 km north). The village is very picturesque, with a classical perched medieval view from the St-Cezaire road and a pretty valley of pastures and woods at the back side, on the road from Fayence.

[Wikipedia] Carennac
Carennac is a commune in the Lot department in south-western France.
Carennac belongs to the historical region of Quercy.
A village lies in the fertile valley of the Dordogne River, nestled under the barren, parched plateau locally named 'le Causse'. Its most remarkable landmarks are a medieval priory, combining an 11th-century church and cloister, and a 16th-century castle, in which famous author of The Adventures of Telemachus, François Fénelon, lived from 1681 to 1685. The church features a remarkable tympanum, and the cloister a 15th-century mise au tombeau.
