UK: Irish and British leaders attend funeral for slain journalist in Belfast

UK Prime Minister Theresa May, Irish President Michael D. Higgins and Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar attended the funeral of 29-year-old journalist Lyra McKee at St. Anne's Cathedral in Belfast on Wednesday.
Labour's Jeremy Corbyn was also present at the ceremony, as well as Democratic Unionist Party leader Arlene Foster and her Sinn Fein counterpart Mary Lou McDonald, sitting side by side.
Footage shows mourners wearing Marvel superhero-related shirts in honour of McKeen, a fan of the franchise. Mourners were also reportedly wearing Harry Potter-themed clothing.
Father Martin Magill, one of the priests who led the ceremony, received a standing ovation after raising the question as to how political rivals were only now able to unite.
Why in God's name does it take the death of a 29-year-old woman with her whole life in front of her to get to this point? he asked.
According to reports, mourners were told that McKee was planning to propose to her partner Sara Canning next month.
McKee was struck by a bullet during rioting in Derry last Thursday. Police blamed dissident Republicans known as the 'New IRA' for the murder and are treating McKee's death as a 'terrorist incident.'

Thousands of mourners lined the streets of Belfast today for the funeral of murdered journalist Lyra McKee, as a priest told them it should mark a new beginning for Northern Ireland. Miss McKee was killed by indiscriminate fire as she observed clashes between police and New IRA dissidents on the Creggan estate in Londonderry on April 18. Priest Father Martin Magill said her death should be a 'doorway to a new beginning' for Northern Ireland and the dissident republican gunmen who killed the 29-year-old reporter should lay down their arms. Funeral held for Lyra McKee in Belfast
A priest has called on the murder of Lyra McKee to be the doorway to a new beginning for Northern Ireland, as it was claimed the journalist was planning to propose to her partner. Father Martin Magill said Miss McKee's lasting legacy should be peace at her funeral earlier today in St Annes Cathedral attended by political leaders including Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn.

Reflecting the White Star Line's reputation for superior comfort and luxury, the RMS Titanic had extensive facilities for First-Class passengers which were widely regarded as the finest of her time. In contrast to her French and German competitors, whose interiors were extravagantly decorated and heavily adorned, the Titanic emphasised comfort and subdued elegance more in the style of a British country manor or luxury hotel. Titanic's enormous size enabled her to feature unusually large rooms, all equipped with the latest technologies for comfort, hygiene, and convenience. Staterooms and public spaces recreated historic styles with a painstaking attention to detail and accuracy. There were a wide range of recreational and sporting facilities in addition which provided ample opportunity for amusement during a voyage.
Although closely similar to her sister ship and predecessor the RMS Olympic, Titanic featured additional First-Class staterooms, augmented public rooms, and myriad minor improvements to enhance her luxury and comfort.
