Sri Srikanta Dikshitar recounts the various mythological affiliations that the temple complex has, referred to in the Sthalapurana, and the Uttara Kanda of the Ramayana. Avani Ramalingeshwara temple Kolar by Chola dynasty
The Ramalingeshwara group of temples (also spelt Ramalingeshvara or Ramalingesvara and sometimes referred to as Rameshvara group), situated in Avani town of the Kolar district, Karnataka state, India, is constructed in the dravida style. According to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the temple is an ornate 10th-century Nolamba dynasty construction which was partially renovated later by the Chola dynasty. The temple is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India as a monument of national importance.
The idol of parvathi Devi is a swayumbu and the goddess temple is located further away; at an elevated platform from the Shiva temple. Many centuries later, Parvathi Devi appeared to Adhi Shankara Charya and expresses her desire to establish a Seetha statue next to her swayumbu vigraha. As a great devotee of Shakthi, Adhi Shankara Charya execute her order with great care. Hence this temple came to be known as Seetha Parvathi Temple.

Historicity of Avani Temple Complex
Dr. M. Shashidhar, Professor, Department of History, Bangalore University speaks about the political history of the Ganga dynasty, who ruled the Avani region and built the temple complex there. The Western Gangas ruled the Karnataka regions of Mysore, Mandya, Tumkur, Kolar and Hasan, from 350 CE to about 1000 CE. He details the rise of the Gangas, a direct result of Samudraguptas campaigns weakening the Pallava empire, thus paving a way for the Gangas. The video addresses the political conflicts that rose between the Cholas, the Chalukyas, the Rashtrakutas, the Western Ganga and Eastern Ganga dynasty. Professor Shashidhar also used references from the Puranas to address the complex questions around the origins of the Ganga dynasty. He also talks about the patronage of the arts, languages, and the Jain religion by the Ganga rulers, that established Avani as an important cultural centre.

Also, the war between Sri Rama and Lava and Kusha had happened in this village.
It's a light trekking point. The hillock have steps carved which makes easy to climb and rails are available for support.
Google Map will take you to Ramalingeshwara temple. From there, go forward for around a 100 metres and then take the first left to reach the hilltop.

Exploring India's most isolated temple | VLOG 6 | Ramalingeshwara Temple | Avani hill | Kolar |
This is a place of enormous ancientness.
If you are searching to visit a place near Bangalore then in Kolar this Avani Temple (Avani betta) can be the best destination as a historical place among all the South Indian temple. This is a mysterious place with some strange history hidden within, there are some myths is attached to it, I have covered most of the things in my travel vlog.
According to the ASI, a notation here courted 399 A.D. refers to it. Later captions name it the GAYA of the south.
Mythology has it that it was the residence of the Hindu saint VALMIKI (author of the epic RAMANAYA) and that the Hindu god Rama visited Avani during his rescue to Ayodhya from Lanka. According to the tale, Rama's sons Lav and Kush were born here on an occurring hill (called Lava-Kusha betta in aboriginal Kannada) a low distance from the temple complex. According to the art chronicler Madhusudan Dhaky, Nolamba temple buildings exist in the province historically known as Nolambavadi, an area to the east of Gangavadi (a region in south Karnataka) but west of Andhradesa (modern Andhra Pradesh). He courts the temple to the ahead 10th century. According to the art chronicler James Harle, the firstest hierarchy within the walled courtyard (prakara) may really be what is known as the Shatrugnalineshwara shrine (or Shatrugneshvara) and was assembled by the western Ganges dynasty of TALAKAD (based on a Ganga inscription on the premises). This was soon attended by the Lakshmanalingeshwara monument. According to Harle, this is the timeliest instance of a group of statues with an outward wall enclosure in the Karnataka state.
**Puja timings are early morning and evening(as per the localities, I asked).
