Aveiro nos finais do século XVI, princípios do século XVII, a instabilidade da vital comunicação entre a Ria e o mar levou ao fecho do canal, impedindo a utilização do porto e criando condições de insalubridade, provocadas pela estagnação das águas da laguna, causas estas que provocaram uma grande diminuição do número de habitantes - muitos dos quais emigraram, criando póvoas piscatórias ao longo da costa portuguesa - e, consequentemente, estiveram na base de uma grande crise económica e social. Foi, porém e curiosamente, nesta fase de recessão que se construiu, em plena dominação filipina, um dos mais notáveis templos aveirenses: a igreja da Misericórdia.

Aveiro is a city on the Portuguese west coast founded next to a lagoon known as Ria de Aveiro. It is distinguished by its canals navigated by colorful boats (moliceiros boats), traditionally used for the harvest of algae. Not far from the center, known for its Art Nouveau buildings, is the Sé de Aveiro, with its prominent bell tower. The Aveiro Museum, housed in a former convent, has an extravagant tomb made of marble.

AVEIRO, a Ria de Aveiro estende-se, pelo interior, paralelamente ao mar, numa distância de 47 km e com uma largura máxima de 11 km, no sentido Este-Oeste, desde Ovar até Mira. Abarca 11 000 hectares, dos quais 6 000 estão permanentemente alagados, desdobra-se em quatro importantes canais ramificados em esteiros que circundam um sem número de ilhas e ilhotes. Ainda que tenha vindo a perder, de ano para ano, a importância que já teve na economia aveirense, a produção de sal,
utilizando técnicas milenares, é, ainda, uma das actividades tradicionais mais características de Aveiro, havendo, actualmente, dezenas de salinas em laboração.
Muito especialmente no Norte da Ria, os barcos moliceiros, embarcações únicas e de linhas perfeitas, ostentando polícromos e ingénuos painéis decorativos continuam a apanhar o moliço fertilizante de eleição, bem dentro dos mais exigentes e actuais parâmetros ecológicos, que transformou solos estéreis de areia em ubérrimos terrenos agrícolas. AVEIRO, the river of Aveiro extends from the inside, parallel to the sea, in a distance of 47 km and with a maximum width of 11 km in the east-west direction, from Ovar to Mira.
It covers 11,000 hectares, of which 6000 are permanently flooded, there are four big river channels that surround a many islands and islets.
The river was popular in the old days, it was a very important for the ecomony. Nowadays, the salt production, using ancient techniques, is still an important characteristic of the traditional activities of Aveiro, currently there are dozens of working salines.
In northern area of the river, moliceiros which are craft unique boats, continue to catch this fertilizer based on very ecological seweeds. (The Portuguese Venice)

O que fazer em Aveiro, Portugal
Aveiro é linda, charmosa e encantadora. Conhecida como a Veneza portuguesa, a cidade tem conquistado turistas do mundo todo. Fui de Lisboa de autocarro (ônibus) do terminal de Sete Rios e consegui conhecer tudo em apenas um dia lindo de sol. A viagem leva quatro horas porque o autocarro vai parando, mas bastante agradável.
Três dicas imperdíveis em Aveiro:
1a) Andar de Moliceiro;
2a) Dar um passeio de Buga (bike gratuita);
3a) Comer Tripas com Ovos Moles.

May 19, 2018 / VLOG NO. 122 – I took a day trip into Aveiro, what is known as the Venice of Portugal. It was an interesting trip to a completely different kind of city compared to Porto. That's one of the best things about having an extra few days in a specific destination, it allows you to travel to many different little towns and cities and really get a feel for the country you're traveling in!

Costa Nova & Barra beach - Ílhavo - Aveiro - Aerial view - 4K Ultra HD
Costa Nova Beach
The most picturesque aspect of Costa Nova is its coast road along which a line of wooden huts is painted in brightly coloured stripes alternating with white. Built by fishermen as shelters and equipment stores, the huts have now been converted into rather characteristic holiday homes.
With the sea often rough and much appreciated by surfers, Costa Nova do Prado Beach covers a large expanse heading off southwards in the direction of Vagueira Beach, excellent for those liking a long walk along the seashore. On the other side of the coast road, Aveiro Estuary, with its calm waters, is a favourite for sailing and windsurfing in what constitutes an entirely different natural environment.
Barra Beach
Located by the pontoon that marks the beginning of the Aveiro Port and the end of the estuary, Barra Beach is both spacious and has good conditions for a range of sports including surfing, bodyboarding, kite-surfing, sailing and sea fishing. Very popular among sunbathers, the area takes on a new life during the summer months with the entertainment continuing well into the night at the many bars and discos and during local festivals.
Right by the beach is the imposing Aveiro Lighthouse, built over a century ago and, at 62 metres in height is the tallest in Portugal.
Praia da Costa Nova
A imagem mais pitoresca da Costa Nova é a da sua marginal onde se alinham os palheiros de madeira, pintados de riscas de cores fortes alternadas com o branco. Construídos pelos pescadores para abrigo ou armazenagem de apetrechos de pesca, estes palheiros, restaurados, são hoje em dia agradáveis casas de férias.
Banhada por um mar agitado, muito apreciado pelos surfistas, a Praia da Costa Nova do Prado possui um vasto areal que se prolonga para sul em direcção à Praia da Vagueira, onde os apreciadores de caminhadas se podem exercitar. Do outro lado da estrada, a Ria de Aveiro com as suas águas tranquilas, ótimas para a prática de vela e windsurf, proporciona uma paisagem completamente diferente.
Praia da Barra
Situada junto ao pontão que marca a entrada do Porto de Aveiro e onde desagua a Ria, a Praia da Barra possui um extenso areal e oferece boas condições para a prática de diversos desportos como o surf, bodyboard, kitesurf, vela e pesca desportiva. Muito procurada pelos banhistas, esta é uma zona bastante agitada durante o verão, com a animação a prolongar-se noite dentro, nos muitos bares e festas.
Junto à praia destaca-se o imponente Farol de Aveiro, construído há mais de um século e que com 62 metros de altura é o mais alto de Portugal.
