MYKONOS & DELOS - NCL Spirit Cruise- Eastern Mediterranean 10 day
This is Day 3 of our summer cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line's (NCL) Norwegian Spirit Eastern Mediterranean Cruise departing from Rome (Civitavecchia) Italy.
It is Saturday June 9, 2018 and we are in Mykonos Greece.
Our excursion was: Delos: Birthplace of Artemis & Apollo (4 hours). The Island of Delos is mythical birthplace of Goddess Artemis and God Apollo. We saw traces of Aegean civilizations from the ruins at the archeological site. We saw the Avenue of the Lions which are perfect replicas of the 7th century Naxian marble beasts at the sacred lake where Leto gave birth to twins.
We ate delicious seafood at a restaurant in Mykonos and then went to see the beautiful Mykonos windmills.
We finished the day with some yummy country style dinner and some board games.
**There is boat ride between Mykonos and Delos so make sure you catch the last ride when leaving for the ship!
**Drink a lot of water, use sun protection and dress in layers.

The story of the opera actually unfolds within the sanctuary of Delos itself and addresses the fear of mortality and the tedium of immortality. The play follows the fortun...

So people go to me, completed an epic odyssey from the Ionian known as Homer. For an epic journey to visit the Odyssey, the hero Odysseus going to get through all kinds of hardships to go home began in the Batignolles anti biggest town in the island of Ithaca. Indeed all over the city like a island of Odysseus in Homer Odyssey has a statue of the creator. And wandering hero Odysseus and his men stood in the rain and wind kkutkkut occasion.

It stood map showing the journey of Odysseus. 10 years is a journey of Odysseus who wander the ocean looked more deplorable way too close to the distance between Troy and Ithaca Island battlefield. Odysseus is believed that as the protagonist in the novel was a real person in history scholars. Joe Louis was due to artifacts from the cave entrance is estimated that the city submerged. The Joe Louis jyeotdan cave collapsed in 1940 earthquake suggests a variety of things Odysseus era. Among the inscriptions he wrote one called the wish of Odysseus' is found. Scholars have regarded as conclusive evidence that this is where the Ithaca Island and the home of Odysseus had his palace. Where is estimated as the palace of Odysseus is on an island village north star broth. Odysseus is teoda bath of the Mycenaean era that nobility lived and estimates. Greece would have been all over this place right here molryeoon men to propose to Penelope wife of Odysseus in the old days. Even if not left anything other than rubble still traveling to find traces of the heroes look here. Odysseus's palace is in full swing dwaetdago the excavation was underway for a while now excavation is stopped for economic reasons. This is seen from the palace on the beach. Odysseus may have been the very coast was pleased came back home. Wish the old has already accomplished what was Odysseus? It could stay forever came back to the house? The way back. See the recumbent fold in middle-aged travelers with each other. Perhaps we may all be Odysseus and Penelope struggling to get back to his home.

Avebury: A/venue for the Feast of the Flood Part 1
This video was just a bit of fun really. I find the theory increasingly compelling though, the more I think about it... If it were more than a bit of fun I’d probably want a few acknowledgements in there. Not first to notice Avebury henge at 4/7 lat. eg Heath and Michel, Measure of Albion, but they weren’t first either. (Avebury, Wooden Books for eg.) Some of the dove stuff comes from reining in and rationalising R.Temple (Sirius Mystery) likewise for obelisk shadows (Crystal Sun) who drew on work of Martin Isler on stretching the cord, and on Prof.Stecchini for the oracle latitudes. Think I may be first to make the connection between Avebury and Stecchini’s scheme of sevenths. I’m not first to suggest Egyptians in Bronze Age Britain (Egyptologist Lorraine Evans looked at close archaeological parallels in Kingdom of the Ark, some of which I looked at here: but I’m championing the theory of an earlier intervention, Old Kingdom rather than just Middle Bronze Age, but what with the long distance trade routes even at that time, even the mainstream story accepts Silbury “may have been inspired by stories of the distant pyramids “ - I just think it was a more direct intervention. Long distance ocean expeditions are attested back to Seneferu, early old kingdom. There’s one quote I would love to have been able to include but left out as I couldn’t find the primary source. Temple quotes Higgins that “A large crescent-shaped boat, pointed at each end and called the omphalos or umbilicus or Argo was carried in procession in the Greek religious services at Delphi. Probably should have mentioned the avenue of lions along the sacred way at oracle centre of Delos, second greatest Greek oracle centre after Delphi. That Silbury was constructed with an area around it that deliberately was dug down towards the water table so that it would flood I also got from elsewhere (Edward Peglar, Here:

SUMMARY

The island of Delos (; Greek: Δήλος [ˈðilos]; Attic: Δῆλος, Doric: Δᾶλος), near Mykonos, near the centre of the Cyclades archipelago, is one of the most important mythological, historical, and archaeological sites in Greece. The excavations in the island are among the most extensive in the Mediterranean; ongoing work takes place under the direction of the French School at Athens, and many of the artifacts found are on display at the Archaeological Museum of Delos and the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
Delos had a position as a holy sanctuary for a millennium before Olympian Greek mythology made it the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. From its Sacred Harbour, the horizon shows the three conical mounds (image below) that have identified landscapes sacred to a goddess in other sites: one, retaining its Pre-Greek name Mount Kynthos, is crowned with a sanctuary of Zeus.
Established as a cult center, Delos had an importance that its natural resources could never have offered. In this vein Leto, searching for a birthing-place for Artemis and Apollo, addressed the island:
Delos, if you would be willing to be the abode of my son Phoebus Apollo and make him a rich temple –; for no other will touch you, as you will find: and I think you will never be rich in oxen and sheep, nor bear vintage nor yet produce plants abundantly. But if you have the temple of far-shooting Apollo, all men will bring you hecatombs and gather here, and incessant savour of rich sacrifice will always arise, and you will feed those who dwell in you from the hand of strangers; for truly your own soil is not rich.

El Condor Pasa If I Could Live Version by Alexandro Querevalú
Another version of El Condor Pasa (song) popularized by Simon & Garfunkel in 1970 If I could is the best-know Peruwian song from the zarzuela El Cóndor Pasa composed by Daniel Alomía Robles. The best ever live version with flute expressed in this musical interpretation by Alexandro Querevalú with a native indian flute called Quena is felt deep within the soul.
Lyric of El Condor Pasa from the album Bridge over Troubled Water 1970 by Simon & Garfunkel
El Condor Pasa (If I Could)
I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes, I would
If I could
I surely would
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail
Yes, I would
If I only could
I surely would
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world its saddest sound
It's saddest sound
I'd rather be a forest than a street
Yes, I would
If I could
I surely would
I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet
Yes, I would
If I only could
I surely would
