Russia: Remains of ancient woolly mammoth uncovered near Omsk
Remains of a mammoth were uncovered in the village of Cheryomushki near Omsk, on Saturday, while drains were being repaired by a local plumbing company 'Vodokanal.'
The workers immediately reported the findings to the local State Museum of Local Lore. Later, paleontologists and experts confirmed that the remains were of a great historical value.
SOT, Veronika Nikonova, Head of nature department at Omsk State Museum of Local Lore (Russian): Today mammoth bones have been delivered to our museum. The bones were found in the village of Cheryomushki. According to the first examination results, I can say that the bones belong to a not very big mammoth.
SOT, Veronika Nikonova, Head of nature department at Omsk State Museum of Local Lore (Russian): It was an adult animal that reached an old age. The estimated age of the animal was around 60 years. His death was likely natural because the animal was smooth-mouthed.
SOT, Veronika Nikonova, Head of nature department at Omsk State Museum of Local Lore (Russian): The most common species of an ancient elephant is the woolly mammoth, and the bones belong exactly to this group of species, which can be found in the Omsk region quite often.

OMSK - SIBERIA, RUSSIA | Beautiful country and very helpful people (Part 3)
Subscribe :
Hello Friends,
In this video, i have started my journey from Astana International Airport after small layover of around 4 hours. Flight time from Astana to Omsk, Siberia Russia is just about 50 minutes.
Weather in Omsk was quite pleasant as it was around 20 degree C. As soon as i landed in Russia, i was amazed by such kind people who are always there to help. I found people keen to help at every point of my journey in Russia.
From Omsk airport, i used bus service to travel to my hostel that i have booked online via booking.com. I had to change 2 buses to reach to my hostel and all this was possible only because of the help that i got from local Russian people.
Russian is the language that is mostly spoken all over Russia and its hard to find people with English speaking skills easily but still i am amazed that inspite of this, Russian people are so warmth and have best hospitality qualities. I met one lady who helped me from airport specially to reach to my hostel.
There are unlimited instances that i can count of the greatness of the Russian people.

MY FIRST RUSSIAN AIRLINE EXPERIENCE | S7 Airlines Review: Novosibirsk to Vladivostok
I tried to give S7 airlines the benefit of the doubt, but too many things happened that made not really want to fly with them again. S7 is one of the most popular airlines in Russia, so it's disappointing that they don't give more consideration into looking after their passengers when things don't go as planned. Let me know if you guys have ever traveled with S7 and what you thought!

The second rarest Antonov in scheduled services, the An-3. Only 25 built and an attempt to mordernize the An-2 with a Glushenkov TVD-20-03 Turboprop engine. The engine is derived from the Il-86 APU and there are a few structural modifications over the An-2 (e.g. different tail). This flight was originally planned for one day earlier but delayed by 24h on short notice, letting us stuck in Tura for 2 days. Thanks to the friendly KrasAvia staff for permission to film onboard (albeit not outside!). The deafening noise inside the cabin was the auxiliary heater which came on every 5 mins and made us sweat, only freeze a few minutes later when it was switched off again. The An-3 has (like the An-2) a pneumatic braking and steering system on the ground, which is easy to hear during taxi.

A pleasure flight onboard a rare Sabreliner around St. Louis. N58HT is operated by American Air Charter based at Spirit of St. Louis Airport. The flight took us around the area including a visit to Perryville Municipal Airport (PCD), where - if I understood correctly - this aircraft was built in 1981. Later on the flight took us close to St. Louis downtown followed by a missed approach at Spirit of St. Louis Airport. Thanks to the very friendly crew and American Air Charter staff for making this flight possible.

Russia - Transsiberian Dream
And here is the last step of Kodamasia17: crossing all Russia, from East to West, from time zone to time zone, from culture to culture, in the legendary Transsiberian. This was a childhood dream for both of us and what we can say is that we were not disappointed AT ALL. Being in this train is something completely unique. You feel like travelling between time and space, in a parallel dimension. Waking up, reading, taking a nap, looking by the window, taking a second nap, eating, playing cards, watching a movie, sleeping, eating, taking a break outside… again and again. People tend to think that staying in the train for more than 30 hours is hard, but to me, it was the best part of our trip. You constantly meet people, think, learn about yourself, and learn about this great country that is Russia. So here is what we did during these 19 days.
After having visited Irkutsk and the Baikal Lake, we took the train for 41 hours to visit Omsk, a Siberian city, near the Kazakh border. This city is a typical Siberian city: people swimming in the river during summer, animations in the street during sunny days, and a big cathedral at the middle of it (The Assumption Cathedral).
Then, we took the train for 36 hours and went to Kazan: back in Europe after 7 months. Kazan is a city located in the autonomous Republic of Tatarstan, and the culture there is special. It’s a Muslim Republic, and we really felt that it was different from other places we visited: food, language, architecture. The Qolşärif Mosque is the most impressive one I’ve ever seen. We also visited the Soviet Times Life museum, it’s the only one in Russia. Authentic objects from Soviet Union were there and we could use them, try clothes… I recommend it for every person who would travel to Kazan and is interested about history. World Cup will take place there, good occasion to go! We’ve been lucky to be there during Tatarstan National Day, everyone was celebrating it and we assisted to a sick firework on the river.
Finally, the last step of our journey: going to Moscow. 13 hours of night train from Kazan. The best city I visited in the last 7 months. We had the best guides there to show us how you can enjoy Moscow’s life in the summer. The Kremlin, The Red Square, magnificent parks, markets, street art district, theatres, historic buildings and monuments… this city is just awesome. And CRAZY big. 25 times Paris. Moscow is amazing during the summer, you can feel that people are enjoying the warm days before winter comes. Directly knew I would come back one day, this city is just damn too cool. And we are so thankful to our guides team without who it wouldn’t have been so good.
Almost time to fly “home” as I decided on the last minute to go to St Petersburg. And what a wise choice. 4 hours of high speed train from Moscow to go there. It’s from far the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited. Like Venice, Amsterdam or Bruges, this city is constructed on the water. There are more monuments there than normal buildings. 3 days was totally enough to see the greatness of this city.
And it finally came. Time to go home, and to be honest, not happy about it. Kodamasia17 has been a crazy adventure and it couldn’t have been any better. Realized many of my dreams there and I’m so thankful to all the people who made it so perfect: THANK YOU.
To sum up, it started perfectly with Taiwan, the most welcoming country I visited. Mongolia was the craziest and most beautiful experience ever, and Russia was a perfect conclusion, in such and interesting country.
And I am also thankful to L’Esc@le, Sèvres, who allowed me this scholarship which helped me making all of this possible.
When travelling you learn a lot about people, the world, and yourself. And you also realize that you never really know what future is made of. Life is sometimes unexpected, and I’m in an appropriate position to say that as… I’m moving to Moscow for 6 months in 2018 !
And as Kodama’s will be there once again to help me find my way, I can say that Kodamasia18 is to be continued …
