KAMAKURA - RISE AND FALL OF THE SHOGUNS Episode 4.
A Medieval History of Japan.
Episode 4: SUNSET OF THE SHOGUNS - Kamakura's decline.
Kamakura in the later medieval and early modern periods.
In the final episode of this documentary series, we look at the fall of the Kamakura shogunate, the rise and fall of later Japanese shogunates, their effect on Kamakura, and Kamakura's effect on them.
Power ebbed away from Kamakura in the 14th and 15th centuries, yet all subsequent would-be shoguns, warlords, and politicians right up to the present day who desired control of Japan would still claim legitimacy through their connections, real or imagined with the Minamoto shoguns.
In addition to evaluating the political legacy of the Kamakura Shogunate, we look at how Zen Buddhism, and other forms of Kamakura Buddhism sowed the seeds of the enduring spiritual and cultural traditions of Japan, which are still promoted by people of the city and beyond.

Rome: Engineering an Empire part 2 of 2
One of the most powerful civilizations in history, the Roman Empire roled the world for more than five centuries. Although renowned for its military prowess, Rome s real power stemmed from its unprecedented mastery of urban planning and engineering.
Hosted by Peter Weller, ROME: ENGINEERING AN EMPIRE chronicles Rome s spectacular structural history from the rise of Julius Caesar in 55 BC to the Empire s eventual collapse in c. 537 AD. Each of Rome s legendary rulers left their mark on the city--some stately, some sordid--and their collective ambition caused a surge of innovation and ingenuity that led to Rome s glorious ascendance. Examine the planning and construction of the city s greatest masterpieces, including the awe-inspiring Colosseum and its mysterious subterranean aqueducts, and piece together Rome s magnificent past through its architectural triumphs.
Abundant in exclusive location footage and cutting-edge CGI graphics, the multiple Emmy Award-winning ROME: ENGINEERING AN EMPIRE breathes new life into the incredible history and majesty of the epic Roman Empire.

1. Despicable Me
- The music is introduced with a suspense part of the music. It is mixed with an action-filled imagery since the pace of the music varies from slow to fast since they are afraid and careful from getting caught by the antagonist as they steal the shrink ray.
2. Beauty and the Beast
- An element of surprise envelops the theme of this clip. The slow transformation of Beast from being dead to an alive, human person is suspense, as well. The background music is played in numerous high notes in fast staccato with slow rests. This wrecks the nervousness of the audience of what the outcome of the transformation might be, reflecting suspense. Likewise, the element of surprise is illustrated in the resurrection of Beast from death, and his transformation into a human person.
3. Puss in Boots
- Chasing is the fittest theme with this part of music. This is portrayed with an action-filled and running scene, specifically chasing, imagery. The element of suspense is diminished since the music shifted from high notes in fast staccato with slow rests to fast and high notes in loud volume. The music sounds all-out and very adventurous which makes chasing the appropriate scene for this part.
4. Sleeping Beauty
- There is a rest after the chasing part, wherein, there are hardly and sounds. After this, the mellow, subtle, and lullaby-like music is introduced. The prince enters the castle during the rest part. When he finally found Aurora, the mellow music played. This represents the relief emotion that he finally found the princess.
5. Spirited Away
- The mellow music also reflects a person who reminisces and looks at the countryside. A person often reflects or reminisces when he or she is travelling. Hence, the scene that the girl reminisces during her travel in the train by looking outside the windows matches the mellow music.
6. 101 Dalmatians
- The background music is still mellow, but as it plays along, it provides an imagery that introduces a transformation to a slightly romantic scene. It depicts a simple, yet sweet scene of two couples - a human couple, and a dog couple.
7. Cinderella
- The music stirs up vision of a sweet, romantic scene. The pace of the music ascends to a more all-out love-filled music. The best scene to illustrate this part of music is a waltz, more romantically danced by a couple.
8. Frozen
The music shifts into an ascending tone and volume, but is still mellow in tone. The sound provides an imagery of something which is gradually increasing or transforming. The music allows the listeners to imagine a fantasy-filled illustration, as well. Elsa's construction of her own ice sanctuary with her powers fits this music well.
9. Snow White
- The mellow music shifts to becoming more subtle and slow, which is played in a lower volume. The imagery depicts a sleeping scene to match this more relaxing music. Due to this pace and tone of music, it appears to be more like a lullaby.
10. Tangled
- The mellow, romantic music fades out into a lullaby until it ends. The great way to end the music is to present of happy ending of a love story. The music is ended in a calm, subtle way, and it sounds comforting, which is why a happy, romantic ending matches the ending the most.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The Han dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE) of ancient China, divided between the eras of Western Han (206 BCE – 9 CE, when the capital was at Chang'an), Xin dynasty of Wang Mang (r. AD 9–23), and Eastern Han (25–220 CE, when the capital was at Luoyang, and after 196 CE at Xuchang), witnessed some of the most significant advancements in premodern Chinese science and technology.
There were great innovations in metallurgy. In addition to Zhou-dynasty China's (c. 1050 – 256 BCE) previous inventions of the blast furnace and cupola furnace to make pig iron and cast iron, respectively, the Han period saw the development of steel and wrought iron by use of the finery forge and puddling process. With the drilling of deep boreholes into the earth, the Chinese used not only derricks to lift brine up to the surface to be boiled into salt, but also set up bamboo-crafted pipeline transport systems which brought natural gas as fuel to the furnaces. Smelting techniques were enhanced with inventions such as the waterwheel-powered bellows; the resulting widespread distribution of iron tools facilitated the growth of agriculture. For tilling the soil and planting straight rows of crops, the improved heavy-moldboard plough with three iron plowshares and sturdy multiple-tube iron seed drill were invented in the Han, which greatly enhanced production yields and thus sustained population growth. The method of supplying irrigation ditches with water was improved with the invention of the mechanical chain pump powered by the rotation of a waterwheel or draft animals, which could transport irrigation water up elevated terrains. The waterwheel was also used for operating trip hammers in pounding grain and in rotating the metal rings of the mechanical-driven astronomical armillary sphere representing the celestial sphere around the Earth.
The quality of life was improved with many Han inventions. The Han Chinese had hempen-bound bamboo scrolls to write on, yet by the 2nd century CE had invented the papermaking process which created a writing medium that was both cheap and easy to produce. The invention of the wheelbarrow aided in the hauling of heavy loads. The maritime junk ship and stern-mounted steering rudder enabled the Chinese to venture out of calmer waters of interior lakes and rivers and into the open sea. The invention of the g ...
