AYA TERUHA SUSPENSION BRIDGE The Aya Teruha Suspension Bridge prides itself to be one of the longest and highest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world. It takes at least five minutes to reach the other side. The Aya Teruha Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian bridge with a span of 250 meters (820 feet) and a height of 142 meters (466 feet) which spans the Aya River Valley.
TERUHA Big Suspension Bridge
It is Suspension Bridge in the Aya town in Miyazaki Prefecture. It is spectacular.

Most Beautiful Shrine in Japan|Day 96 - Miyazaki
Tucked away in the mountains of the very beautiful Aya Town in Kyushu’s Miyazaki Prefecture you will find the famous Teruha Suspension Bridge (照葉大吊橋). Meant to be the world’s longest suspension bridge devoted only to pedestrian traffic when it was built in 1984. Aya Town is also famous for it’s castle and craft village, as well as rather good home grown wine. The Teruha bridge is 250m long and 142m tall at it’s highest point above Honjougawa river, and doesn’t rock quite as much as you’d imagine. On the other side of the bridge lies the entrance to a national park aiming to preserve the natural forests of Kyushu, as they looked before the introduction of tree farming after the second world war.
Udo Shrine (鵜戸神宮, Udo Jingū), located on the Nichinan Coast south of Miyazaki City, is dedicated to Yamasachihiko, the father of Emperor Jimmu, the mythical first emperor of Japan. This brightly painted shrine is set in a cave on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean and so enjoys a spectacular view.
There are a few legends concerning Emperor Jimmu and this cave, although it is unclear whether he was born here or visited here as a baby. However, the one thing the stories have in common are the breast shaped rocks in the cave wall which are said to have nourished him.
Drinking the water that drips from these rocks is thought to be beneficial for pregnancy, childbirth, nursing and women hoping to have a child. The shrine is also thought to be fortunate for couples and newlyweds.
Outside the cave is a terrace overlooking the ocean. Among the rocks below is a target marked by rope into which people try to throw small ceramic undama, or lucky balls (available at the shrine for a small fee). Women throw with their right hand while men throw with their left, and landing an undama in the target brings good luck.

Japanese house - Miyazaki Prefeceture
A house i happened to wake up in after a fairly big night.
stopped at night to ask for directions from a bunch of guys drinking and having a BBQ on the side of the road in a tiny little town during Obon last year.
next think i knew had a pint in one hand and dinner in the other.
amazing hospitality
ended up sleeping upstairs in one of the guys houses, in an area of the house the seemed to be usually used for local functions or something
spent the next morning/day at Takachiho

Miyazaki | Japan's natural paradise
We made it to Miyazaki thanks to ! More travel videos on Odigo:
Miyazaki is easily the most beautiful prefecture we've been to so far, and it didn't make it in this video but it's also the prefecture that founded chicken nanban, THE BEST JAPANESE FOOD DISH EVER. Miyazaki is said to produce the best chicken in Japan (which my tastebuds can confirm) because their chickens are free-ranging and healthy. Chicken nanban in Miyazaki is a 10000% ABSOLUTE MUST if you can eat chicken.
The places we went in this video are Takachiho Gorge, Aya Teruha suspension bridge, and Udo Jingu. There's so much nature to explore, and because Miyazaki is so far out of the way there aren't as many tourists here as there are in most places in Honshu so you can still get a feel of the untouched nature.

I'm currently in the small town of Aya (population 7,000!) in Miyazaki Prefecture on a temporary work placement. Follow my journey as I try my best to adjust to the different pace, culture, and people here in Southern Kyushu, Japan.
In this video, I have licensed drone-girll Sasaki Momoko (AKA Sasamomo) visiting from Tokyo. She shows me how to fly a drone (I flew the Mavic and I'm in loveeee!) and then we took on some on some of the popular landmarks in the area.
After that, the weather started to turn (and you can't fly drones in the rain) so we decided to take a walk through downtown Aya, and check out some of the Hina Matsuri displays around town.
At night we ate wild boar nabe (hot pot) and it was delicious!
