Dec 8 : Celebrator Dopplebock : Brauerei Aying (Ayinger)
This week we visit Germany, and drink a classically delicious Dopplebock, from Ayinger brewery, called Celebrator Dopplebock.
We talk German music, legos set to German music, and Goats.
Matt is disappointed that he's never been hit in the chest by a Goat, John thinks he is a goat, and Stephen wonders how he became the sane one on the episode this week.
On Master Pairings, we set up shop in Dr. Bill's new kitchen and the world renowned Randy Clemens joins us for an amazing Sriracha pairing from his book 'The Sriracha Cookbook: 50 Rooster Sauce Recipes' .. it's freaking amazing, and you should definitely go buy his book immediately. Of course, he also pimps out the Stone Book he was also involved in writing.
Stephen talks about his online friend Teresa, who he randomly ran into and learned a new word from... John rubs one out, but claims he rolling dice and Matt earns another beating.

Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen (5.8% ABV) DJs BrewTube Beer Review #619

Aloha BrewTube:
In this episode of DJs BrewTube I review Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen. Marzen is the first non macrobeer style that I remember gravitating towards back when I was a craft beer newbie in the late 1990s. Every year I waited for the beer with flavor to be released. Well times have changed and there is a boat load of flavorful brews available all year. This said, Marzen made an indelible impression on me and I still love this style. As for Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen it clocks in at 5.8% ABV and is described by the brewery as follows:
Bavarians have been celebrating the harvest with beer festivals since before the 1400s. Märzen is brewed in March to be ready for the September and October beer festivals. Rich, golden color. Slightly sweet, malty nose. Medium to big body and alcohol. Soft dryness from long maturation.
Serving Suggestion
Tellerfleisch (boiled beef), pretzels and radishes, goulash with dumplings, clam chowder, bock-wurst, weiner schnitzel, roasted chicken, pork, and sauerkraut. Traditionally served in tall earthenware or glass mugs.
This all sounds quite pleasant. Let see if the beer lives up to the lofty prose. Enjoy the review..... Written review follows:
Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen REVIEW:
A- Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen pours a dark copper / amber with a two finger light tan head of tightly packed bubbles. Please of glass lacing but no alcohol legs were observed.
S- Malt, caramel, light floral hops, bready grains with a touch of dark honey and lager yeast esters. No alcohol is detectable on the aroma.
T- Taste mostly follows the to a, T. Malt, caramel, light floral hops, bready grains with a touch of dark honey and lager yeast esters. No alcohol is detectable in the taste.
M- Medium thin body, spot on carbonation with a smooth finish. Super easy to drink in large quantities. This is of course by design.
O- IMO, this is the best Octoberfest / Marzen I have had and at this point I have tasted at least 40 variants. The reason I rate it so high is that it provides a balanced, prototype for the style flavor profile and finishes SUPER clean. At this point I have drank this beer for many years and it is eqally as good each time I have it. I will continue to drink Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen and recommend it. PROST!!!!!
