Foreing visitors (farangs!) should pay a 200 baths entrance fee, including boat promenade. A very nice place to visit. Good place for eating. I recommand.
This floating market is one of the largest tourist sites in and around Ayutthaya province. The objective of this market is to help preserve and promote Thai arts and culture.

We went south of Bangkok to experience Damneom floating market and went all the way up north to see Ayutthaya ruins and the elephants. we spent close to 6 hours just for traveling, but it is all worth it.
We experienced the Bangkok traffic jam when we were on our way back to the hotel from Ayutthaya. It was supposed to be 1 hour and 30mins drive but it took us 3+ hours.
When you're in Thailand, don't miss these 3 destination. It's amazing.

AYUTTHAYA ELEPHANT VILLAGE - Feeding the Elephants, Amazing Experience
Have a ride on an elephant. Elephants are Thailand's national symbol and Ayutthaya is home to many elephants that you can ride around the city's sights. Mahouts (elephant keepers) will always be in tow so you won't be expected to direct the animals around yourself. If an elephant ride leaves you wanting more, visit one of the city's elephant camps where you can get up close and personal with these inspiring animals.
It will be impossible for you and your family to walk around Ayutthaya without encountering the country's national animal. Elephants can be found throughout the city decorated with paint and offering rides to children and their families. You will be able to ride an elephant round the beautiful Pha Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya Historical Park (with a trained mahout of course) and see the sights an alternative way. Children will not fail but be impressed by these magnificent animals. If an elephant ride leaves the young ones desperate for more, there are elephant camps which can be visited in the city for a day. If you need to get away from the big city during your visit to Bangkok (as I did after just one day), a quick trip to the Ayothaya Floating Market and Elephant Village is a great option. Ayothaya is located in Ayutthaya — Thailand's capital city until 1767 — about 50 miles from Bangkok. Even though 50 miles may seem like a reasonable distance to travel, Bangkok is plagued by some of the worst traffic I've seen anywhere in the world, and while we managed to make it to the market in about 90 minutes, the drive back took more than twice as long. It rained during much of my visit, which likely had an effect on the tourist presence at the floating market, but all of the shops were still open for business. Luckily, guided tour
Boat rides are available at the market — the driver appears to be adjusting the direction of the boat using forced water.
Even baby goats are available for purchase...
Visitors can feed the goats even if they're not able to take one home.
Massage prices at the market are even more reasonable than those in Bangkok — hour-long massages start at just under $7.
A fish spa is also available (yes, those are my feet above). I've never seen a fish spa before my trip to Thailand — $3 buys you 15 minutes in the tank, in which tiny fish chow down on the dead skin on your feet and legs.
Only one elephant was out and about at the nearby elephant village, likely due to the rain.
Bananas are available for purchase, which the elephant was more than happy to grab out of the basket I'm holding in the photo above.
One of Ayutthaya's historic attractions, Wat Chaiwatthanaram was a Buddhist temple built in 1630. It was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. water buffalo
As a UNESCO World Heritage City, Ayutthaya is mostly about exploring the ruin sites and temples peppered across the city. How you do it, though, is the question. While you can jump on a tuk-tuk and hit as many sites as you want, there are more interesting and fun ways to do it.
With a history so intertwined with the rivers, touring the city by boat is one of the best ways to experience Ayutthaya of the bygone era. While river cruises are the most luxurious way to go about it, kayaking probably comes closest to how the locals lived several centuries ago. Another popular activity is riding on elephant back in Ayutthaya Historical Park. But if you really want to try something unique, check out a night cycling tour of the ruin sites. Backlit by strategically placed spotlights, these ancient ruins seem to take on a new life of their own.
Another activity that's worth considering if you are thrilled by the thoughts of exploring Ayutthaya's temple ruins on elephant back. Opposite Khum Khun Phaen in the Ayutthaya Historical Park, Ayutthaya Elephant Camp offers elephant rides as well as daily shows and feeding from 9:00 to 17:00. Ayodhaya Elephant Village (next to Ayodhaya Floating Market) has overnight mahout training programmes, in addition to elephant riding trips to nearby temples, for those interested to get real close up and personal with a pachyderm.

The Floating Market and Elephant Village are both located in the same place in Ayutthaya, Thailand. So going to both is easy as going to the your next door neighbour. Lots of food and stuff to buy in the man made floating market. While in the Elephant village, you can find goats, elephants, and tigers. You can feed the elephant and also can take pictures beside the Tiger for a fee.
A cool place to go to with your kids when you visit Bangkok, Thailand.

Ayutthaya Elephant Palace, was established in 1993, since then they launched a program to rehabilitate sick elephants, retrain killer bulls and increase the elephant population.

The ancient Siam capital of Ayutthaya is home to the Royal Elephant Kraal. The village mahouts care for 80 elephants through a program at Elephantstay. The camp gives guests an elephant to ride, feed and bathe for a week. Twice a day they ride from the Royal Kraal park down to the river for a bit of play time.

The elephant rides looked ok but not for me and there is a temple at the back of the complex Wat Chang witch is an interesting walk.
Beautifully done and great for food and for trying new local delicacies freshly made. Every stall was maintained so beautifully. In the admission price you also get a little boat trip round the complex and access to a little dance theatre. you must to visit This floating market is a must see place, it's amazing the among of boats selling food, the people, the energy, the food is being amazing
