FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF PONTA DELGADA + AZORES ISLANDS ? (SÃO MIGUEL | PORTUGAL)

Come walk around Ponta Delgada, the largest city on the Azores Islands, and part of Portgual with us. This gem on Sao Miguel, has been around for over 600 years and is one of the most unique European cities I've ever encountered. From some history of the town, to settling down to watch Portugal take on Morocco in the World Cup.. This was one fun day, and just the beginning of our three-week series in the Azores. Scuba diving the Dori ship wreck off Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel island (Azores,Portugal)

I shot this underwater scuba adventure video with my gopro 3. The Dori Ship wreck which is a WW2 Liberty Ship that sunk not far from Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel Island (Azores, Portugal) in the middle off the Atlantic ocean. I dove with Best Spot Azores Dive Center off a RIB style boat. Bruno the owner and instructor who is also a marine biologist.

Ben Fogle Adventure In The Azores - Unravel Travel TV

Ben Fogle travels to The Azores to explore the islands and takes on different challenges in each. On Faial he hikes along trails on a lunar landscape as well as along crater rims and finds out how volcanos have changes the island and the lives of its people. In the harbour town of Horta Ben displays his artistic abilities to leave his own landmark before a ferry ride to Pico where he climbs the highest mountain in Portugal to enjoy breathtaking views. On the island he also visits the vineyards growing among the lava stones and the underground lava tunnels. The island of St Jorges is ideal for more extreme adventure and here Ben's skills in coasteering, canyoning and abseiling along this rugged terrain are tested. Finally, Ben travels to the largest island, San Miguel and to the historic centre of Ponta Delgada to discover the island's rich heritage and culture. He travels to the most popular attraction on the island, Furnas and its spectacular geological feature of bubbling water and steaming vents and it's here where he cooks his own geo-thermal meal. Closeby, he takes a dip in the thermal lake which is renowned for its healing properties. The Lakes of Sete Cidades are examples of the dramatic scenery which form the backdrop to his journey and especially while he kayaks in one of the crater lakes and jumps onto a mountain bike to seek adventure further afield.

Terra Nostra Gardens & Furnas Hot Springs in Ponta Delgada, Azores - What to Do on Your Day in Port

On our port call in Ponta Delgada in the Azores, we took a shore excursion we bought onboard the Jewel of the Seas. The name of the tour was Terra Nostra Gardens & Furnas Hot Springs. And as the title says, we went to those places on the Island. The tour also stopped in the town of Riberia Grande on the North shore of the island. The price was $70 US each. It was a very good tour for the money. We really enjoyed it.

Ponta Delgada is the largest municipality and administrative capital of the Autonomous Region of the Azores in Portugal. It is located on São Miguel Island, the largest and most populous in the archipelago. The City of Ponta Delgado has 44,403 residents, with approximately 20,113 in the three central parishes that comprise the historical city: São Pedro, São Sebastião, and São José. Ponta Delgado became the region's administrative capital under the revised constitution of 1976; the judiciary and Catholic see remained in the historical capital of Angra do Heroísmo while the Regional Assembly was established in Horta.
