Vlog #25: Rotterdam girls night-out: Takumi Dussedoft Ramen & The Suicide Club
Only 20 minutes by train from The Hague, Rotterdam is very easy to reach. This is the most modern and urban city in The Netherlands. You can feel the vibrant vibe as you just arrive to the center station. That’s what I love most about this city.
So my girls and I decided that it’s time again to do a night-out in Rotterdam. We started with the dinner at the very famous Ramen place – Takumi Dusseldorf, then go for a drink at Cornelis Bar and dance at the Suicide Club. Everything is in walking distance from the train station, so whatever time you want to go back to The Hague, it will be fine. You can party whole night and don’t have to worry if you can make it home or not. Train is running all night long, party people. :-D

Amsterdam is a small town of 820,000 people but has many great bars and night clubs neatly located in close proximity of each other. Amsterdam is breathtaking from the canals that's why my cousin and I rented a canal boat so we could have our own private tour. We rented the canal boat from canalmotorboats.com conveniently located west of Amsterdam Central Station and rents for 40 euros per hour but make sure to reserve a few days ahead.
Amsterdam has 2 major nightlife districts called Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein these squares are loaded with bars and night clubs. Depending on where you start, I recommend you get a delicious negroni from NJOY cocktail bar but beware, they have a strict door policy so do not show up too trashed or under dressed.
At Rembrantplein you'll find many great spots like Escape night club, Jantjesverjaardag (a popular student bar), techno club Air Amsterdam, and my favorite Club NYX for their bizarre toilet bar on the top floor where you literally can take a piss behind the DJ in a urinal on the dance floor.
If you're not into night clubs than Amsterdam has a magnitude of bars and cafes, it is what Amsterdam is best known for. Dig deep into local Dutch cafe culture in the Jordaan district at cozy places Cafe Thijsen, Gevulde Gaper, Staalmeesters and De Zotte.
For party bars and dive bars check out No. 129, Cafe Kooper, Kopstootbar and end your night either at the Water Hole for rock music and live bands or club hard at the massive Paradiso dance floor or consider Chicago Social club for a more laid back hipster kind of vibe.
In conclusion, the Amsterdam nightlife is one of world's best. The fact that bars and clubs are open late, no last call, great selection of music & venues plus a chill laid back local crowd that makes Amsterdam the absolute party capital of Europe, without a doubt. Ibiza eat your heart out! Also, make sure to watch my Amsterdam travel guide for day time activities.

Dancing to Save Rotterdam's Nightlife: Opstaan voor de nacht
Rotterdam’s hub of underground electronic music, BAR, is set to close in a few months and was to be replaced by a larger club called MAVV in a vacant factory located in the Merwe-Vierhaven. The municipality is the one who initiated the project to redevelop the factory, which was to include exhibition halls, an outdoor pool, a panorama view of the city, and an open lawn for the people. Now after years of collaboration between BAR and the city of Rotterdam—and lots of money invested, the municipality has suddenly decided to pull the plug on the project. That means no MAVV, but also no more BAR, creating a void in the underground music scene of Rotterdam. The people of Rotterdam’s nightlife, however, are not going down without a fight. On Wednesday, thousands made their frustration heard with a protest/dance party right in front of City Hall.
Rotterdam City Center- Best Things To See & Do
New Amsterdam Travel Video- There is so much to see in Rotterdam, we had to return to make a second video. In this episode, Sander and Rich take you to big cultural & entertainment areas of the city. Begin in the middle of Rotterdam's outdoor shopping area, which includes the architecturally stunning Market Hall (Markthal)- one of Europe's biggest indoor food halls. Nearby, don't forget to look in and around the whimsical yellow cube houses. Our next stop is Museumpark, a nice strip of green flanked by five fascinating museums, including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen which has a huge collection of old and modern art. Lastly, finish your day off on the buzzing Witte de Withstraat with its fun, arty combo of galleries, restaurants and bars. We enjoyed a beer at De Witte Aap, which Lonely Planet voted the best bar in the world! We'll be back to make a 3rd, a 4th and a 5th episode for sure.

Rotterdam, The Netherlands - A Tour Of The Dutch City
A tour of the Dutch city of #Rotterdam with our guide Hassan Hidare from Rotterdam pages.
???????? Where we stayed in Rotterdam -
Rotterdam, South Holland in the Netherlands is only 25 minutes by train from Schiphol Airport and really easy to reach.
Unlike Amsterdam, the port city of Rotterdam was almost completely destroyed by Luftwaffe bombing during World War II. During the post war reconstruction Rotterdam became known for its groundbreaking architecture.
These building include the 1970’s cube houses designed by architect Piet Blom and the Pauluskerk. One of the old building which survived the war was the Witte Huis or ‘White House’ built in 1898 and was one Europe’s first skyscraper.
As well as the architecture, you can get great food from one of the 100 stalls at the impressive Markthal and you must visit some of the bars on the popular Witte de Withstraat.
So instead of just staying in Amsterdam when visiting the Netherlands you must take a trip to the far less crowded Rotterdam

An awesome day of travel photography in Rotterdam, Netherlands
See my images from Rotterdam on my instagram at @brendanvanson.
I'm here in Rotterdam, Netherlands on a travel photography assignment for the tourism board. I'm absolutely loving town so far, and today's vlog will show you why.
The day started off as so many days do: with me being really late for something. But, eventually, I got to the train station in Rotterdam and picked up a bike. Then, a guide from Urban Guides picked me up and we went cruising around the city doing a bit of exploring and I took it as a way to do some photo location scouting as well.
After the tour was over, I retreated to my hotel which was the Citizen M. I absolutely love this spot. Might be my new favourite hotel chain. There, I spent a couple hours getting caught up on work.
In the evening, I headed to a dinner place in Rotterdam called Aloha Bar. It's this cool spot that was converted into a restaurant from an old swimming pool. It was vegan night, which was probably good for me as I have been eating really unhealthy so far.
Then, around sunset, I went off to shoot some travel photography in Rotterdam. The city has a lot of potential for some cool photos. I started down on the riverfront where there are some of the more classic style images of the city. Then, when the blue hour hit, I moved on to the train station. Rotterdam Centraal is such an iconic building, and I'm always a big fan of shooting the most iconic locations first, just to get them out of the way.
All in all, it was a fantastic day of travel photography in Rotterdam. Today was a bit of a location scouting day, but tomorrow I'm going to do more full-on photography. It should be another fun day in the Netherlands. So, I hope to see you on tomorrow's photography vlog.
Rotterdam Nightlife - Behind the Scenes
The students of Rotterdam really know how to party. However, do they also know what it is like for the staff working in nightlife? This video will show them.
Amsterdam Red Light District at night
Markthal Rotterdam, Netherlands
In Rotterdam in the Netherlands there is one especially strange building looking like something out of a futuristic science fiction movie but it's a food market also with many restaurants and bars set in a building like you have never seen before. It's one of the world's most unusual food markets. At the same time it's a condominium with 228 apartments. From the outside the building only looks a little bit unusual with that curved roof and as you walk along the side of it you might notice the apartments with their balconies up above. When you step into the building it really takes off, bringing you on a kaleidoscopic journey that's almost like entering a fantasy land and there's lots of great food from all parts of the world. The innovative shape of the roof is further complemented by the amazing mural depicting a cornucopia of the foods that are on offer in the market along with flowers and butterflies. This unique artwork covers 11,000 m² making it reputedly the largest picture in the world it was created by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. Open all day every day until 8 PM and at night it looks even more spectacular. We will be showing you a lot of that evening scene later in the program.
The Markthal in Rotterdam is one of the most outstanding modern buildings you'll ever see. It's an incredible enclosed food court in a big U-shape, with apartments all up above and around, and a tremendous huge food market down here in the middle. They've got restaurants, they've got take-away foods, they've got snack bars, there is a supermarket downstairs, a wine bar, a lot of beer, a lot of people, fresh produce, cheese, everything you can imagine, a hundred different food booths, 20 different restaurants. It's just a great spot in the heart of Rotterdam.
It's got cheese, noodles, pasta, pizza, sushi, frozen yogurt, fish and chips, churros, fresh fruits, French baked goods, Italian, Spanish, Asian, Dutch, Indian, Vietnamese, Turkish, Lebanese, Syrian, Chinese, Greek. There's salads, coffee, cappuccino, donuts and cupcakes, chocolates, licorice, seafood, sausages, spice, frittes, calamari, Portuguese custard tarts, nuts, herbs, dried fruits, waffles, wine shops, bakeries, tapas, hams, olives, tapenade, juices, mushrooms, Croquettes. There is a kitchen utility shop. It is one of the few retail stores here in a place you could easily spend a lot of euro. An Asian grocery store, bubble tea, sandwiches, burgers, crepes, and more.
The attraction of coming to the Markthal is only secondarily about the food, the wonderful food that's here, with the tremendous international variety that we will show you in a moment - but of course you can find lots of restaurants and food shops anywhere in town. The impact of the Markthal is more about the total experience, the setting, the building, the mural, the people, the wonderful combination of fast food, gourmet food and markets all around you framed in some kind of miraculous building. It's an amazing unique combination.
The artist Coenen explained, “You could just look at the wonderful, almost psychedelic picture for it’s beauty, which points out the miracle that food is there for you,” ‘It is a work with a spiritual, religious feel to it. However, its larger-than-life size is not a tale of religion; it’s about nature.
The attraction of coming to the market hall is only secondarily about the food, the wonderful food that's here with the tremendous international variety that we will show you in a moment - but of course you can find lots of restaurants and food shops anywhere in town. The impact of the marked hall is more about the total experience, the setting, the building, the mural, the people, the wonderful combination of fast food gourmet food and markets all around you. It's an amazing unique combination.
