Revelstoke Heritage Weekend kicks off at forestry museum
Revelstoke’s B.C. Interior Forestry Museum and Forest Discovery Centre hosted pro logging demos, horse logging demonstrations and a big barbecue at a Friday night open house to help launch the new Revlestoke Heritage weekend.
Dan Boltwood brought his team of percheron draft horses, and demonstrated how he controls the giant animals through an obstacle course.
Forestry museum manager Anna Minten explained the history of the museum, which is located up by the Revelstoke Dam.
Currently, the museum is installing a new lookout platform in their back field that will provide a new vantage point to the Revelstoke Dam.
For more, see the embedded video above.
Logging events continue tomorrow with a logging sports demonstration at Centennial Park, including pro competitions and lots of events open to community members, who can register in the morning. Learn more from our preview story here.
Of course, there are about two dozen events on tomorrow as part of the new Revelstoke Heritage Weekend, an event that combines Railway Day, Timber Day, BikeFest Revelstoke, the Little Bear Soccer Tournament and more.

Welcome to British Columbia!
Canada's westernmost province is packed with jaw-dropping scenery and incredible adventures. Home to some of Canada's most varied landscapes, ranging from desert and ocean to mountains and forest, there truly is something for everyone in British Columbia.
We explored the BC from Sept 6 - Sept 28, 2017.
Canada's Road to 150 is a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?
We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

Mountain Driving From Valemount BC To Penticton BC By David Hryciuk
Along my way from Edmonton to Penticton BC, this video covers the halfway point at Valemount BC to Penticton BC. This drive is full of spectacular mountains and traverses very diverse regions. From Valemount, it passes through sand dunes and dry forest before reaching up into the Cariboo Mountains with interior rain forest, lakes, glaciers, high peaks and hanging valleys near Blue River BC. BC's Highway 5 then descends down into canyons, parklands, meadows, dry forest and mountains around Barriere BC. From there, it enters the desert and badlands between the mountain ranges in Kamloops. Once again, you ascend back into gorgeous mountains along BC's Highway 97 before descending into the lakes, desert, parklands, forests, vineyards, orchards, towns, mountains and cities that make up the patchwork that is the Okanagan Valley in BC.
