The BCMC Trail is located just east of the Grouse Grind and offers a less busy alternative workout. The start of the trail is the same place as the start of the Grind before branching off onto the Baden Powell, then left at the junction up the steep hill to the Grouse Mountain chalet.

Finally the first episode from Canada!
Sorry it took long, but the weather hasn't been helping... Plus, since I just moved here, I had a lot of stuff to do. Paperwork, looking for a job, a house, and all those shenanigans...
Anyhow, here it is! This week I climbed the most famous mountain in Vancouver, Grouse mountain. Since it's December, the Grind path was closed, soI had to take the BCMC instead. Once on top, I continue towards the Thunderbird ridge, in order to get a stunning 360 view of the area.
I hope you guys enjoy, and remember to subscribe and click the bell button, so you'll never miss an episode!

Grouse Grind Alternative - BCMC Trail (BC Mountaineering Club)
The Grouse Grind is a popular hike in Vancouver but it's usually crowded and filled with tourists wearing sandals, loafers, and jeans. BCMC Trail is hidden in plain view and allows you to hike without the crowd and clutter.

BCMC Grouse Mountain Trail
This is a Hike up Grouse Mountain and then you take a gondola down in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is very popular attraction in Vancouver. It takes on average about 1.5 to 2 hours. There are lots to see once you have reached the top like Grizzly Bears and a bird show etc. The views to Vancouver are spectacular and then there are a couple of restaurants and snack bar. Also a Theatre. You can definitely make a day of it. If you don't want to Hike up you can take the gondola up also.

BCMC TRAIL THANK YOU! NEW TRAIL ROCKS!
Thunderbird Trail Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver BC
Wow what a busy day up at Grouse Mountain with long line ups waiting for parking, tram, guestservices, washrooms etc...I highly recommended to avoid the Weekends, Christmas Break & Spring Break for the use of the tram up. Or come very early to avoid the line up. I had hiked up the BCMC trail (3 km up, 853 meters, average time 1 hour & half, rated as difficult hike). After arriving to top of Grouse then continue out to the Thunderbird Ridge trail. You start out on the Snowshoe Grind trail head up to Dam Mountain then continue on Dam Mountain Loop hit the junction to go out to Thunderbird Ridge Trail (6 km roundtrip starting from the chalet, 190 meters, highest point from sea level 1255 meters, average time 1:30 - 3 hours, rated as easy/intermediate snowshoe hike. It's a great snowshoe trail to train on for the winter!
Snowshoe Grind Trail, North Vancouver BC
Snowshoe Grind is located at Grouse Mountain North Vancouver BC. Snowshoe Grind will lead you up to top of Dam Mountain. Starting from the chalet round trip of 4.3 km. Elevation gain of 215 meters. From sea level 1345 meters. Average time 1 hour & half. Rated as intermediate/moderate climb. If you own annual Grouse Mountain gondola you can ride up and start snowshoeing out on the trails. Check pass pricing on their website grousemountain.com. Don't own a pass, another option is to hike the BCMC trail with your backpack of winter conditions gear including micro spikes/snowshoes and other gear. Once you arrive to top them slap on your snowshoes and start your way up to Dam Mountain. After your snowshoe hike you can purchase a download ticket for $15 to ride the tram down. It's great quick workout if your short on time!

BCMC Trail - #2 on the list... this one starts next to the Grind and goes to the Chalet on top of the Grouse Mountain. It's a tough hike but rewarding as you get a fantastic view of the city and ocean from up there.
