Kiryat Shmona residents on latest rocket strike, border scenes
Rockets from Lebanon struck northern Israel on Sunday, causing no injuries but sparking an Israeli reprisal shelling in a rare flare-up between the two countries.
Residents of the northern Israel town of Kiryat Shmona awoke to a pair of large explosions.
Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said no injuries or damage were caused from the rocket fire.
Shortly after, the Israeli military said it responded with artillery fired toward the source of the launch.
Lebanon's state news agency said the border area was shelled after the rockets hit Israel.
The agency said over 20 shells hit the mountainous region around the southern Lebanese border area of Rachaya.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commended the military for responding quickly and forcefully to the rocket attack. He accused Hezbollah of committing war crimes.
The Israel-Lebanon border has remained mostly quiet since a month-long war in the summer of 2006 between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon.
There have been sporadic outbursts of violence, most recently earlier this month when a Lebanese army sniper killed an Israeli soldier.
The 2006 war broke out after Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrillas crossed into Israel and captured two Israeli soldiers.
The ensuing month-long conflict killed about 1,200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis.

STORYLINE:
Hezbollah continued its rocket attacks on Israel on Friday, firing a barrage of missiles at the port city of Haifa and Kiryat Shmona, police said.
In Kiryat Shmona, an 11-story building was hit and the rocket attack injured one tenant, medics said.
The woman was seen being wheeled out of the apartment complex and into an ambulance to be taken to hospital for treatment.
The windows of the building were shattered and shards of glass were scattered on the ground.
All the time, all the time, the same Katyusha rockets, the same troubles, said one resident of the building.
In Matam, an industrial area on the southern outskirts of Haifa, rockets struck near a main motorway, triggering fires, and on an office block nearby.
The office block suffered extensive damage, with smashed windows and traumatised workers who were seen coming out of the building with the help of rescue authorities.
They said seven Haifa residents were injured by shrapnel.
Rockets also struck the suburb of Kiyrat Ata, where two people were treated for minor injuries.
Haifa's suburb of Kiyrat Bialik was also hit, damaging an apartment building.
Families could be seen inspecting the damage to their homes from their balconies.
Hezbollah said on Friday it had fired more than 150 rockets at northern Israel.
Israel estimated the barrage at about 80 missiles by midday.
Since the current conflict began on 12 July, at least 38 Israeli civilians have been killed in Hezbollah rocket attacks.

KKL Kiryat Shmona Groves&Forests
If we look into the history of the Forests of Israel, we'll see that it is as dramatic as the history of The Jewish People itself...may be even worse!
Generations after generations of Arabs, Persians, Romans, Turks, Crusades (Christians)... wasted to the last chunk of wood on Israel Land, apparently in an effort to be consider themselves as one more of the biblical plagues.
The Jewish People fought very hard to deserve the right to live again in their own land. Now they work hard too, raising new Forest where all those above mentioned people made deserts or wastelands.
Unfortunately, this sort of Plague is what Israel is nowadays still surrounded by: desert makers, arson specialist, Tree killers...
So the fight continues, but this time, Kapokland, that very big nation of Trees, will protect those Trees and will fight for the hard-won Forest of Israel along with its brave citizens. And the enemies of our Forests don't have a chance, dear Israelis, when First Kapoker performs a Kapok Treefight on his Kapokboard! Shalom!
