Built in 1926, the Babbacombe Cliff Railway is a funicular lift that has shuttled hundreds of thousands of holiday makers to and from Oddicombe Beach in over 90 years of service. Work to build the railway started in December 1924 and it was completed in 1926 at a cost of £15,648.

I went on the Railway in November when it was relatively quiet.The ride is quite bumpy and most of the clips were taken through Glass.
This popular Railway was completed in 1926 at a cost of £15,648
and connects Babbacombe Downs with Oddicombe Beach. It is used by 100,000 people annually.

We meandered down a long winding pathway from the promenade to the Oddicombe Sea front. The descent was shrouded by many tall trees and forestry which created a calm, tranquil and peaceful walk to the beach below. A very lovely chilled out day.

Babbacombe is a district of Torquay, Devon, England. It is notable for Babbacombe Model Village, the Babbacombe Theatre and its clifftop green, Babbacombe Downs, from which Oddicombe Beach is accessed via Babbacombe Cliff Railway.
Babbacombe has a primary school, All Saints Babbacombe Church of England Primary School. The church of All Saints was designed by the architect William Butterfield and built in 1868-74. It is in the Neogothic style and has fine polychrome stonework in the font, pulpit and the chancel floor made from Devon marble.
Babbacombe model village is one of the premier Torquay attractions and has plenty to see and do for the whole family. Babbacombe Theatres is just a 3-minute walk from the hotel, whilst the Cliff Railway is just a 4-minute walk away.

Beautiful British Coastline - Torquay to Babbacombe - Tearoom Hike - South Devon - Family Vlog Diary
It was a nice hike along the South West Coast Path National Trail between Torquay and Babbacombe. It was only about 10 KM hike since we started the day late and didn't want to walk into the night. Though, it would be fun! The path here is pretty quiet, this is one of the reason why we are here - away from all the noise and large crowd.
