Babyn Yar | Making History
Over the course of two days in the autumn of 1941, thousands of people were shot in Babyn Yar, on the outskirts of Kyiv. The extent of the punitive action only became known after the liberation of the city from Nazi invaders. But historians continue to study archival documents. Declassified materials that are capable of dispelling the myths of Soviet propaganda about the role of the Ukrainian police, shed light on the nationality of the victims and reveal who actually carried out the shootings.

N/S Part 13: Babi Yar, Odessa and Chechiniv Massacres
Nazis/Skinheads: The Holocaust by Bullets and Modern Antisemitism in Ukraine is a feature-length documentary directed by Daniel Reynolds Riveiro that moves between Ukraine's present and past, documenting both its violent skinhead movement and its role in the evolution of the Holocaust.
The Babi-Yar Massacre (1941) - How the Nazis Killed the Jews of Ukraine in the Holocaust by Bullets
The Holocaust by Bullets is not very well known. Did you know Ukrainians helped the nazis with exterminating the Jews? The Second World War in Ukraine began on the 22nd of June 1941 when the nazis launched Operation Barbarossa. It was the name for the full scale German invasion of the Soviet Union. Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union back then. When the Germans invaded Ukraine Jews were slaughtered by the SS Einsatzgruppen. The Holocaust by Bullets had begun. The Babi Yar Massacre (Babyn Jar Massacre) near Kiev was one of the largest mass shooting during the Holocaust in Ukraine. The nazis were assisted by Ukrainian collaborators. Ukrainian collaboration with Nazi Germany and antisemitism in Ukraine was a result of Stalins terror policy and the widespread belief Jews were communists (Jewish Bolshevism). The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) led by Stepan Bandera. Over the course of WW II in Ukraine many Jews would be exterminated.

Babi Yar - Kiev, Ukraine
Babi Yar is a ravine on the outskirts of Kiev where Einsatzgruppen mobile squads killed at least 34,000 Jews over a one week period in September 1941. Russian estimates put the number of killed at nearly 100,000. Today, Babi Yar has come to symbolize the horrific murder of Jews by the Einsatzgruppen as well as the persistent failure of the world to acknowledge this Jewish tragedy.
The Babi Yar nightmare
Babi Yar: one of the largest massacres in Holocaust history. More than 33,000 Ukrainian Jews were murdered over the course of just two days. Only 29 people survived. These are some of their stories. Listen. Remember. Share. NEVER AGAIN!

Victims were then ordered to undress, beaten if they resisted, and then shot at the edge of the Babi Yar gorge. According to the Einsatzgruppen Operational Situation Report[11], 33,771 Jews from Kiev and its suburbs were systematically shot dead by machine-gun fire at Babi Yar on September 29 and September 30, 1941.
In the evening, the Germans undermined the wall of the ravine and buried the people under the thick layers of earth.
Babi Yar today (Kiev, Ukraine, 2017)
Montage of video, taken August 2017 within Babi Yar in Kiev, Ukraine. Infamous Holocaust symbol. A place, where ap. 100 000 people were killed during German occupation in 1941-1943.
The Survivor of Babi Yar Massacre
David Ayzenberg who was born in 1926 Kiev and was living there during the war years recalls how he together with other Kiev Jews came to a Jewish cemetery near the Babi Yar ravine following German order. Ayzenberg depicts horrors he witnessed there. He tells how he and other Jews were driven to the ravine, how witnessing all the horror he lost consciousness and came to himself only in the ravine underneath the dead bodies and how after several days who crawled out of the ravine and escaped.
Babi Yar: Kiev During World War II
Steve and I are compelled to visit the, unfortunately extensive, and many memorials to extermination and genocide victims throughout the world when traveling. These peoples will not have died in vain if we take time to remember.
Babi Yar ravine is one of those horrific place of extermination during World War II. It was here that the Nazis committed the single, largest massacre of the Holocaust by murdering almost 34,000 thousand Jews in two days, September, 1941! Row after row of people were systemically shot and covered with dirt where they lay. Witnesses said the burial pit moved for days from those who did not die immediately... Valentina (from Kievcitytours.com) spent a considerable amount of time detailing this horrific event and many thanks for her time and knowledge.
Thousands more Roma (Gypsies), dissidents and Soviet prisoners of war also met their fate here. What can I say...
The Holocaust and Jewish pogroms in Ukraine. Холокост и еврейские погромы на Украине.
77 years ago, on September 29, 1941, collaborators from the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, forces of the auxiliary police unit Kiev Kuren (comrade Dmitry Miron - Orlik), with the consent and control of the Nazis from the Sonderkommando 4-A (room. Paul Blobel), began the extermination of the Jews-Kyivans in Babiy Yar.
According to general estimates in the Babiy Yar Ukrainian nationalists in those days were destroyed from 70 000 to 200 000 people.
In commemoration of Dmitry Miron, a memorial plaque was installed in Kiev. In the village where this executioner was born, a monument was erected in his honor, and by the decision of the session of the Berezhany City Council No. 76 of 31.07.1998 rock Dmitry Mironu-Orlik was awarded the title Honorary Citizen of the City of Berezhany.
Your heroes, Ukraine, and their victims.
