Babusar Top
At an elevation of 4173m Babusar Pass or Babusar Top is a mountain pass at the north of the 150 km long Kaghan Valley connecting it via the Thak Nala with Chilas on the Karakoram Highway (KKH).
It is the highest point in the Kaghan Valley that can be easily accessed by cars. Babusar Pass connects Gilgit Baltistan with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
From the middle of July up to the end of September the road beyond Naran is open right up to Babusar Pass. However, movement is restricted during the monsoon and winter seasons.
The mountain ranges which enter Mansehra district from Kashmir are the offshoots of the great Himalayan system.
In Kaghan valley the mountain system is the highest of the area including the Babusar top.
This range flanks the right bank of the Kunhar, contains a peak (Malika-e-Parbat) of over 17,000 feet (19), the highest in the district.
On the mountains the grasslands are also found where Gujars and other nomads migrate during summer for grazing their sheep, goats and other animals.
On the northern side there are mountains which are the extension of the same mountain system as that of Kaghan mountains.
This range diverges from the eastern side at Musa-ka-Musalla a peak (13,378 feet) (20), which skirt the northern end of the Bhogarmang and Konsh valleys, and sends down a spur to divide the two.
Here also, like Kaghan, thick forests are found especially on the higher slopes. Due to extensive exploitation only in unapproachable areas the thick forests are found.

This Year we team Travlogistan explore kaghan valley, in this beautiful valley we also explore some beautiful lakes. Dharamsar lake, Shambaksar lake and Kamal lake. there is also a lake on the top of babusar which is seen by few people & some people give it the named of Babusar lake and local people call it “Kala Shah Khan Lake” where people parked there Vehicles at the top of babusar top & trek to this lake its takes about 1 and half hour but there is also a jeep track which we have introduced, this track is about for 10mins.

Babusar Top road condition update 2 June 2019 from Chilas side. Babusar Pass is still closed from Naran and Chilas both sides. Road is clear till Lulusar Lake from Naran side and from Chilas side it's clear till Pakistan Hotel Babusar Valley.
Road clearance work on Babusar Top is slow and no work progress since 2 days. As eid is just around the corner tourist planning to visit Naran Kaghan, Babusar Top and Hunza Valley are concerned about road clearance. We recommend all people who are traveling on / or right after Eid ul Fitr postpone your plan till mid June at least. Babusar Pass is not going to clear anytime soon.
Hunza Valley will be accessible through only Besham Dassu Road using Karakoram Highway which is in bad condition.
Naran Kaghan Tour will be incomplete without Babusar Top visit.

You can easily reach the Babusar Top via car. While driving through this mountain pass we covered the distance of about 150 meters and reach the Babusar Top at an elevation of 4173 m (13,700 ft). The views from the top were amazing, floating clouds, cool breeze and marvellous landscape was all what I could see. Look for yourself in the pictures and you will know what I am referring to, it was a heavenly piece of earth with beautiful views wherever you see.
Feel very comfortable to visit Kaghan Valley. It is very safe place for tourism. I visited this year 2019 in summer to Kaghan. Kaghan valley is open for tourists only from April to August because before that and after that the valley is closed due to heavy snowfall. The valley is very beautiful with friendly people and friendly atmosphere. Lots of expensive and inexpensive hotels and accommodations are available there. You can go through your private car or via PTDC bus service. Well i took my 1000 CC Suzuki Cultus car upto Naran Valley. From there you can visit Saif ul Malook Lake through Jeep which can be easily available from Naran Valley. Your base camp or major stay should be in Naran valley. Have a nice and safe journey.

Babusar Pass or Babusar Top’s heighted 13,691 feet, is a mountain pass at the north of the 150 km long Kaghan Valley, connecting it with the Chilas on the Karakoram Highway (KKH). It is the highest point in the Kaghan Valley that can be easily accessed by cars. Babusar Pass connects Gilgit Baltistan with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
The Kaghan Valley is at its best during summer (i.e. from May to September). In May the maximum temperature is 11 C and the minimum temperature is 3 C. From the middle of July up to the end of September the road beyond Naran is open right up to Babusar top. However, movement is restricted during the monsoon and winter seasons. The Kaghan area can be reached by road via the towns of Balakot, Abbottabad and Mansehra.

Chilas is a little town situated in the Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan is across the left side of river Indus. It is part of this Silk Road linked with the Karakoram Highway that connects it to Islamabad from the south via Dassu, Besham, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, along with Hasan Abdal. From the northwest, Chilas is close on the Chinese cities of Tashghan and Kashgar through Gilgit, Aliabad, Sust, along with the Khunjerab Pass.

Babusar Top was originally known as Babur Top, originating from the fact that the Mughal emperor Babur used to pass through this area in the early 16th century. Nowadays however, it is commonly referred to as Babusar Top.
In May, the maximum temperature reaches 18°C and during the month of January the mercury drops down to -6°C.

This is the condition of Babusar top road in 2020 when we traveled on Naran road from Lahore to babusar pass, Kaghan to Naran road condition is very bad, While driving you faced the big bump. Naran to babusar top road is clear but in snow falling, please make sure the road is clear & open. Babusar Pass to Hunza road is Good. which makes Wonderful Pakistan. Babusar top weather is always cold. Cold weather increases Pakistan's beauty.

Hunza To Babusar Top Naran Road June 20 2019 Snow Glaciers
Babusar Top is open for traffic from 15 June 2019, Babusar Pass Naran Road condition is bad due to heavy snow. Road clearance work is in progress but too slow, making it difficult to cross Babusar easily, both up and down traffic have to wait in long Que because of narrow road clearance.
If you are planning to go Hunza Valley and Khunjerab Pass via Babusar Top Naran Road then please leave early as possible because you will face delays due to road condition.

There aren't many places on planet Earth where a proper highway crosses a point that is 13700 ft above sea level. Babusar Pass is one of those very few places.
Babusar Pass is an ancient route that connects Kaghan Valley with Gilgit-Baltistan (Chilas District). This route remains open roughly from end June to October; rest of the year it is close due to heavy snow in the area.
Babusar Top, the crossing point is 65 km from Naran city and 42 from the T-Junction near Chilas where it meets Indus River. Beware, the descend from Babusar Top towards Chilas side is very steep, one of the steepest that you might ever come across as you lose around 9000 ft in 42 km. Be very sure that the brakes of your vehicle are in perfect condition. Due to excessive use, the brakes usually heat up and therefore, period rest and minimum use of brakes (moving in 4x4 / low gear) is recommended. This portion is very accident prone.
There are many shops at the top where one can get enough to eat though the rates are on the higher side. The drive through Babusar Pass is a unique experience which due to the top quality road during recent years, has become quite doable. Highly recommended. Even if you are not going to Gilgit, just going to the top and pyala coming back would be quite an event Pakistan Tour

Babusar Pass connects Gilgit Baltistan with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Babusar Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.173 m (13,691 ft) above the sea level. The pass is the highest point in the Kaghan Valley, Pakistan. The pass connects the Kaghan Valley via the Thak Nala with Chilas on the Karakoram Highway. It’s one of the famous hairpinned roads in the world.
From the middle of July up to the end of September the road beyond Naran is open right up to Babusar Pass. However, movement is restricted during the monsoon and winter seasons, but it can be closed anytime when the access is not cleared of snow. The Kaghan Valley is at its best during summer (months ranging from May to September). In May the maximum temperature is 11 C (52 F) and the minimum temperature is 3 C (37 F). Due its unique location and the climb in elevation over thousands of feet, and passing through remote areas, it is important when driving in these conditions to be prepared. From the pass the whole panorama lies spread out before the visitor. On a clear day the great Nanga Parbat (26,660 ft) can also be seen from here. Although there are efforts to upgrade the road, most progress has been made on the Chilas side. You should definitely get local advice before crossing the Babusar Pass. The PTDC in Naran is a good source; in Chilas, try field officers at the Gilgit Baltistan Public Works Department (GBPWD) executive engineer office, or Natco drivers on the Babusar village run. The road is a typical Pakistani mountain road, with hills on one side and a deep khud (valley) on the other side.
