I'M A RICE FARMER! ???? // Luang Prabang, Laos (w/ Backstreet Academy and the Living Land Farm Laos)
I partner with Backstreet Academy to experience an aspect of local life in Luang Prabang: RICE FARMING!
During this incredible excursion, I travel to the Living Land Farm in the Luang Prabang area, where sticky rice is produced. Our host, Lee, takes us through the entire process, from selecting the seed, to plowing the fields, to harvesting and refining. This tiny grain that we take for granted means so much to so many people in Laos and all over the world. It was wonderful to see where my food comes from!

Knife Making in Luang Prabang - Backstreet Academy
Adam was in Luang Prabang, Laos over the summer and did some on location shooting during a knife making workshop organised by Backstreet Academy, and hosted by Master Phan, a master blacksmith. Working with a makeshift forge and handmade tools, he produces beautiful results. A lot of work goes into a knife, and this video should give you an idea of the effort involved. Thanks go to our excellent guide and translator, Bounchanh.

Knife making in Laos | World Travel Vlog 8 | Luang Prabang
Today we went knife making in Luang Prabang, Laos. We got to work with a master blacksmith who had over 30 years experience to make a bamboo handle knife. The knife was made from a leaf spring out of an old van, which is apparently a very strong type of steel. We found thing course online at: and I would highly recommend this knife making course for anyone looking for things to do in Luang Prabang. We had a lot of fun and learnt a lot!

Farming rice in Luang Prabang, Laos!
Next stop on the Stray tour was Luang Prabang, Laos! It took me about 1 hour to fall in love with this town. It's situated on a little hill with streets lining the river and views of the distant mountains. The place is clean, organized, and just has a really safe, family-friendly vibe to it. There are also some fun things to do including the rice experience, where you learn to farm, harvest and cook (and eat!) famous Laos sticky rice, and also a really nice waterfall called Kuang Si Waterfall. Our favorite bar was Utopia!

Luang Prabang, Laos - a simple children's game 1-1
Children in Luang Prabang, Laos, play such a simple game which involves only a slipper and a piece of paper roughly crushed into a cube . The whole game is very much like a form of bowling, which is played by adults there. The primitive game and the joyful screams of the children make an amazing and thought-provoking contrast.
