Visit to Badamwari garden on a rainy day in Srinagar
The sprawling historic Badamwari garden in Shahr-e-Khaas has become a source of attraction for nature lovers and tourists, alike. Situated on foothills of Koh-e-Maran, the 300 kanals garden was dotted with trees, flowers and cascades providing a soothing experience to the visitors. Historians maintain there was no record to suggest who laid the garden but they say it existed even before the rule of Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin in the 14th century. A well covered dome in the garden is named after an Afghan ruler, Warris Shah. The bloom on the Almond trees heralded the spring and marked the New Year for Kashmiris. But with the passage of time, particularly during the past three decades, it has lost its glory. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and Heritage Trust, the garden was revived by the JK Bank and formally thrown open for public in 2008.

Srinagar: Here is what you should know about Badamwari Garden
Mughal emperor Akbar is said to have referred to Kashmir as his private garden during his reign because of the boundless beauty that is reflected in the autumn. The season is all about blushing chinars and pale poplars, the white and pink almond-blossoms typify spring in the Valley.
The almond flower is a delicate, beautiful thing, with its pale-blush petals. When in bloom, the whole tree looks like a prettily-painted umbrella.

Hundreds of the locals and tourists today participated in the two-day festival (spring festival) which began on Saturday at picturesque destination #Badamwari in #Srinagar.
The festival organized by the #JammuandKashmirBank was aimed to showcase the talent and attract tourists across the globe.
During the festival, students from various institutions participated and showcased their talent including singing, dancing and other cultural events.
I have come here for the first time. It's very nice. The weather is very pleasant. We participated in one of the events and enjoyed it very much, said a group of boys from local Srinagar school.
