Boat ride from Bagan to Mandalay, Myanmar | Vlog | #016
Mandalay to Bagan River Cruise, Myanmar
The Mandalay to Bagan river cruise down the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar is a great experience. The river is a central transportation artery through the country, and the only way to fully appreciate this is by taking the boat to see it for yourself.
The journey between Mandalay and Bagan takes around 11 hours by boat on the river, and a number of different companies offer services. They are all pretty much the same, with this one serving breakfast and lunch on board.
Along the way we stopped off at a village for a quick look around - most likely also to let the engines cool down a little!
This video shows you what the river cruise to Bagan from Mandalay is like. Enjoy!

SPENDING 12 HOURS ON A RIVER! | Irrawaddy Cruise from Bagan to Mandalay (Goodbye Myanmar)
During our final days in Myanmar, we took an Irrawaddy River Cruise from Bagan to Mandalay. A slow boat that takes around 12 hours from sunrise to sunset.
The Irrawaddy or Ayeyarwady River flows from north to south through Myanmar. It is the country's largest river and most important commercial waterway. But it's the incredible morning views that we really wanted to see.

Irrawaddy River Cruise Burma (Myanmar) (Bagan to Mandalay by SLOW BOAT) | Myanmar Travel
We were up at 4am again for our Irrawaddy River Cruise. Of course there is a bus, but we heard travelling from Bagan to Mandalay by slow boat was a journey not to miss, this is so true. The slow boat from Bagan to Mandalay wasn't necessarily luxurious, but there is an AC room, plenty of food, and in the northerly direction lots of room to spread out. I even spotted Irrawaddy dolphins.
Doing an Irrawaddy river cruise in Burma (Myanmar) is something I would recommend to anyone, it is relaxing, enjoyable and romantic all at the same time. We think that our time in Myanmar would not have been complete without this Irrawaddy river cruise.
Many people travel from Mandalay to Bagan by boat, but we recommend going in the opposite direction. Fewer people travel from Bagan to Mandalay by slow boat and this gave us plenty of room on the luxury cruise to stretch out and enjoy ourselves. We spent a lot of the day hoping to see the Irrawaddy river dolphins!

Myanmar - Mandalay to Bagan by boat (2016)
The best way to travel from Mandalay to Bagan. Cruising on the Ayeyarwady river, seeing the life on the banks of this great river, enjoying the different scenery, while sitting in the sun.
Because of the low tide our boatride took 12 hours, which enabled us to see the sunrise over Mandalay and the sunset near Bagan.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Balloon Flight Over Bagan, Myanmar in 4K (Ultra HD)
The sunrise view from hot air balloon of thousands of temples spread in the Bagan valley is one of the most impressive views to enjoy.
Bagan was the capital of the first Myanmar (Burma) kingdom from the 9th to 13th centuries. It has the largest concentration of Buddhist temples and ruins in the world. At its highest point, the area had more than 10 thousand temples, of which less than 3 thousand remain today.
Recorded February 2015 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100.

First-Timer's Guide to Myanmar — Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Lashio | The Travel Intern
Myanmar. What an absolute stunner. On this adventure, we got to visit Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Inle Lake and Lashio!
Check out what we did here:
YANGON (00:23)
00:25 - Shwedagon Pagoda
Probably the most iconic landmark in Yangon — The Shwedagon Pagoda, which lights up at night and is truly a sight to behold.
BAGAN (00:37)
The best way to get around Bagan, both New Bagan and Old Bagan, is to rent an e-bike, or a normal bicycle would do!
00:58 - Bagan Hot Air Balloon Sunrise Experience
Famous for its hot air balloon ride, we hopped on the tour and got to experience it for ourselves! To catch the sunrise while floating and drifting amidst the clouds was so surreal.
01:15 - Lawkananda Pagoda
Situated on the top of the Irrawaddy River, this is not to be missed!
01:24 - Ananda Temple
Be awed by the beautiful and intricate architecture here.
01:34 - Wonders of Salay & Mount Popa Day Tour
Don't be detered by the 777 steps to reach the top — It is SO WORTH IT.
MANDALAY (01:47)
01:49 - Rv Nmai Hka Irrawaddy River Cruise
It might be 12 hours, but it was a good 12 hours, experiencing the seas and the journey from Bagan to Mandalay.
02:01 - U Bein Bridge
Either the sunrise, or the sunset, they are both spectacular. This bridge is the longest and oldest teakwood bridge in the world!
02:10 - Dee Dote Waterfall
Located deep in the mountainous region one hour away from Mandalay by car, lies this blue lagoon. The hike up to this sweet spot is WORTH IT!
02:34 - Mandalay Hill
WE KNOW it seems like you gotta hike all the time in Myanmar, but really, when you're at the top, don't you think you get the best views? :-)
INLE LAKE (02:49)
One of the must-dos if you're ever in Myanmar, is to get on a boat and explore the ins and outs of Inle Lake!
LASHIO (03:03)
03:08 - Gokteik Viaduct
The best way to travel to Lashio — by train! Get to admire the different landscapes of the countryside~
03:19 - Mountain Biking Exploration
Adrenaline junkies — This is for you! It's definitely not an easy bike path, let us assure you. But worth every bump on the road.
03:35 - Myanmar Adventure Outfitters
03:39 - Dark Horse Falls
Some of us didn't dare to cliff jump because it was THAT scary, but being up there and in the heart of all the action with other travellers made it one of our best moments during this trip!
04:01 - Homestay at Ban Khaw Village
We got to stay in a local homestay and immersed ourselves in the local culture. They were SO warm and friendly, and welcomed us with the biggest open arms ever. :-)
Would you go on the same adventure? :-D Let us know!

Bagan Temples Are CLOSED?! | Myanmar's Most Famous Sight Is Changing (HONEST REVIEW)
The iconic Bagan temples in Myanmar are a must see for any world traveller. But what is Bagan REALLY like to visit in 2020?
The experience of exploring the ruined temples is not what it used to be. Climbing temples to find rooftop views is becoming a thing of the past, with most temples now locked up and restricted to tourists.
But can you still find temples in Bagan with rooftop viewpoints? And should you STILL visit Bagan? We spent 3 days exploring the plains to find out.

River Tour Mandalay to Bagan, Myanmar
Taking a boat on the Ayeryarwady River is one of the Mandalay's delights. Since it was the slow tourist season here in Myanmar, only one boat a week was going from the city to our next destination the ancient city of Bagan. This trip would allow us to slowly (about 8 hours) to see the interior of the countryside.
Small villages dot the riverbanks with the locals carrying on their everyday life. As we make our way south we see many temples and pagodas with their golden mounts. The day was sunny and clear, but the light wind from the boats movement keep us comfortable as we meander our way.
