People come to Bagan for sunset, but the sun also rises in Bagan (Myanmar). Bagan has one of the best views in the world. Home to over 2,000 buddhist monuments, climb up high and you'll see hundreds of them all around you. I took an electric scooter out instead of doing a tour, and it was great because I seemed to have the place all to myself. This video captures the adventure, and some of the beauty I found myself in during the early morning hours at sunrise.

Bagan Sunrise
In all of my travels, this sunrise in Bagan, Myanmar was definitely one of my favorites. Sprawling temples were illuminated by the sun's early morning rays, giving the bricks a deep glowing red hue. To top it all off, a fleet of hot air balloons slowly sauntered by; their passengers waving to us as we snapped a few pictures. Truly an unbelievable day.

The best place to watch the sun set in Bagan (according to Coco)
After arriving in Mandalay at night, we set off for Bagan early the net morning and arrived there after a gruelling 7 hour journey.
We had enough time to explore the temple region of Old Bagan and find a spot to watch the sunset. Thanks to a friendly local called Coco, we were able to find a great place to watch the sun go down, although the view was obstructed by the haze.
Next day, we would watch the sunrise and the hot air balloons over Bagan...

Temples of Ancient Bagan, Myanmar 1 | 4K (Ultra HD)
Bagan is an ancient city in central Myanmar (formerly Burma), southwest of Mandalay. Standing on the eastern banks of the Ayeyarwady River, it’s known for the Bagan Archaeological Area, where more than 2,000 Buddhist monuments tower over green plains. Holy sites around Old Bagan include ornate Ananda Temple, built in 1091 and topped with a golden stupa. Nearby is the vast 12th-century Dhammayangyi Temple.

The Best Place To See Sunrise And Sunset In Bagan, Myanmar | Secret Temple You Can Still Climb!
“Where is the best place to see sunrise and sunset in Bagan?” and “Where are the secret temples you can still climb?” — the questions EVERYONE is asking, and no one seems to have the same answers to, until now!
The ultimate Bagan dream is to either: 1. Experience Bagan sunrise from the aerial heights of a hot air balloon, or 2. Watch the balloons pass over while sitting at the top of a temple. We aimed for the latter (budget friendly) but had the HARDEST time trying to find temples to climb in Bagan. As the country aims to protect the integrity of the temples, climbing has been banned, with a *few* exceptions. The woman we rented our e-bikes from kindly directed us to a secret temple, literally called the “Secret Temple” near Dhammayangyi — we were even able to find “Secret Temple” on Google Maps!
For a change of scenery, we opted to enjoy the sunset from one of the two man-made hills that have been created for tourists. A crowded sunset indeed, but beautiful nonetheless.

Over 2,000 TEMPLES in BAGAN by E-Bike | EP76
Sunset, sunrise and one day exploring over 2,000 temples in Bagan by e-bike! After renting an e-bike we set off to one of the largest remaining Buddhist temples in Bagan – Ananda temple, which had four huge buddhas – pointing north, south, east and west. Although a bit templed out we spent the rest of the day trying to find a temple which we could climb, and we were finally rewarded at sunset. Although not the best sunset in the world it was a great viewpoint! Disappointed with sunset we returned to the same spot to watch the sun rise and the hot air balloon soar majestically over Bagan.

Hi we’re Gem & Alex Swan, in 2017 we quit our jobs, rented out our house and set off on the adventure of a lifetime. We’ve been travelling continuously since then, and have been lucky enough to have some amazing experiences and meet some great people.

We have four main passions:
- The underwater world – having scuba dived in over 100 spots over the last year, from beautiful coral reefs to amazing ship wrecks, with plenty of fish and of course lots of sharks, we are totally hooked!!
- Fantastic food – we try to seek out amazing local dishes in every country we visit, and particularly like to eat at local street food stands (but so far nothing beats Vietnam, or maybe India, oh and Thailand is pretty good too…!)
- Beautiful natural landscapes – from the snow capped mountains of Nepal, to beautiful white sand beaches of the Philippines to stunning rice terraces of Indonesia – we like to seek out these amazing natural landscapes
- Local wildlife – we shun the zoo’s and instead concentrate on trying to find local wildlife in it’s natural habitat! So far we’ve been super lucky, Tigers in India, Elephants in Sri Lanka, Orangutans in Malaysia, Whales in Australia and Penguins in New Zealand – to name just a few!

Searching for the Spot | Inle & Bagan, Myanmar
11th Episode is taking place during my last two weeks in Asia. I went to Myanmar by myself without any clue of what to do, but in one way or another I had the best time of my life! Myanmar is a beautiful country with the most amazing people!
Such an uniqe experience to go here just a couple of years after they opened up the country for tourism, without the established commercialism. I can recommend everybody to visit Myanmar!

Beautiful Bagan
Visiting Bagan for 4 days was an incredible experience. Out of the (over) 10.000 pagodas which was build between the 11th and the 13th century there's still more than 2.000 standing.
