Here is Part 2 of 3 of our family's Magallanes Trip. This time we took a stop at Parola Beach and Lighthouse Station. Have been hearing a lot about this place and luckily enough, got the chance to visit. It was a hot day but worth the tan and walk up to the lighthouse, be sure to have this beach (and lighthouse) a part of your trip should you be in Magallanes, Sorsogon anytime soon.

When in Magallanes + Family | Mikay Ogerio
A glimpse of Parola Beach in Magallanes, Sorsogon. Bagatao Island Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on the eastern side of the entrance to Sorsogon Bay, in the province of Sorsogon in the Philippines.
In the 19th century towards the end of the Spanish colonization, the Spanish Government undertook a massive project of constructing lighthouses to light the seas, to protect the increasing maritime trade in the Philippines during that time, where the country was opened to a wider network of international trade after the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. This situation meant that there would be more shipping routes to and from the various islands and more connections to Manila and beyond.

Parola Beach and Lighthouse Station
A 29-ft white cylindrical century metal tower (lighthouse) lies on the rocky headland that forms the southern point in the western end of the Bagatao Island. Its light marks the entrance to the bay and assists ships in navigating the bend around Ticao Island of Masbate province as they head to San Bernardino Strait and exit to the Pacific Ocean. Many travelers and visitors are coming to see the place because of its breathtaking ambience, picturesque and its beautiful shore which the locals call “Parola Beach” because of the lighthouse on top of it. The beach is also one of the reasons why the island was so extraordinary and very interesting for the visitors.
