The Bahá’í Gardens in Akko (quadcopter)
The Bahá’í Gardens at Bahjí in ‘Akko (Acre) is a Bahá'í holy place. The gardens form a circle around the Mansion of Bahjí where Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith died. This area is called Al-Bahjá (Place of Delight). There's also a shrine of Bahá'u'lláh. To approach the garden you walk along a straight path framed with cypress trees.

Israel's Bahai Gardens, a horticultural wonder
Israel’s Bahai gardens are sometimes described as the world’s eighth wonder. The meticulously manicured flower beds, exotic trees and lush vegetation belong to followers of the Bahai faith – a religion that originated in modern day Iran less than two centuries ago. CGTN’s Stephanie Freid visited the gardens in Haifa as part of our series on horticultural wonders of the world. #BahaiGardens

Visiting Mount Precipice, the Baha'i Gardens and Temple in Haifa and Acre, Israel
Visiting Mount Precipice, the Baha'i Gardens and Temple in Haifa and Acre, Israel. So this morning we are visiting an Olive press but before we learn how oil is made we are just walking around the farm and we've met a nice little horse over here. This is the same olive oil that is settled a year. Okay. And it is still very high quality but the taste is good. So which one is better the fresh. Ahhhhh. The older one is better. This is olive oil straight from the press. Mmmmmmmm

Right now we're high atop Mount Precipice. Overlooking the city of Nazareth.
We have no arrived at Haifa and we're visiting the Baha'a Gardens and this place is amazing. It's just lined with palm trees, eucalyptus trees, flowers.
You'd think after visiting all of these religious sites I'd actually remember to wear pants but no. I actually just love wearing dresses. That's all. Looks good on you. It does.
This is part of our Travel in Israel series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Israeli culture, Israeli arts, Israeli foods, Israeli cuisine, Jewish religion and Israeli people.

Pathways - The Baha'i Gardens in the Holy Land
In this beautiful video piece called Pathways, filmmaker Kyle Corea shares a visual exploration of the pathways and gardens in the Baha'i holy places in Haifa and Bahji in the Holy Land.
Here's what Kyle had to say about the video:
While visiting my sister at the World Centre I volunteered as a gardener. I would spend all day on Mt. Carmel working meticulously, pruning, weeding and beautifying little sections of the immense gardens.
I developed a new appreciation and understanding of all the different species of flowers, plants and sacred spaces. Each day felt like a meditation, working under the hot sun and focusing all my attention on perfecting each task.
At the end of the day I would find myself alone, walking down the Terraces, hearing the running water, birds singing, and tree branches blowing in the wind. On one of the final days before I left the Holy Land I brought my camera with me and explored parts of the Baha'i gardens in Haifa and in Bahji.
The experience visiting the majestic Holy Land is like prayer. It is very personal yet it has an ethereal power that every visitor can feel. By sharing this intimate look exploring the Baha'i gardens in the Holy Land, I hope to bring people back to a place that leaves such a special impression on them, and that also create a sense of wonder for those who have yet to experience these beautiful gardens for themselves.
The video was shot and edited by Kyle Corea ( and original music for the piece was composed by Shahruz Moshtael (

The Bahai Gardens in Haifa comprise a staircase of nineteen terraces extending all the way up the northern slope of Mount Carmel.
The geometry of the complex is built around the axis connecting it with the City of ‘Akko, which also has great historical and sacred significance for Bahá’ís. At its heart stands the golden-domed Shrine of the Báb, which is the resting place of the Prophet-Herald of the Bahai Faith. (ganbahai.org.il)

Pilgrimage or Tourism at the Baha'i Gardens?
Akko and Haifa are the two holiest cities for the Baha'i Faith. The Baha'i Gardens, located on the slopes of Mt. Carmel in Haifa, Israel, have become a major tourist site in recent years. Baha'i pilgrims also travel there to pray and meditate at the Shrine of the Báb located in the gardens. Why are these two cities holy to the Baha'is? What is the significance of pilgrimage here?

The Bahá'í World Centre is the name given to the spiritual and administrative centre of the Bahá'í Faith.[1] The World Centre consists of the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh near Acre, Israel, the Shrine of the Báb and its gardens on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel, and various other buildings in the area including the Arc buildings.[1]
Much of the international governance and coordination of the Bahá'í Faith occurs at the Bahá'í World Centre. These include decisions that affect the religion on a global level, and the study and translation of the Bahá'í holy writings. The Universal House of Justice, representing the supreme governing body of the Bahá'í Faith, resides in Haifa. The Bahá'í World Centre is also the current destination for Bahá'í pilgrimage.
The Bahá'í World Centre has its historical origins in the area that was once Ottoman Syria.[2] This dates back to the 1850s and 1860s when the Shah of Iran and the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, ‘Abdu’l-‘Aziz, successively exiled Bahá'u'lláh from Iran to the fortress of Acre for lifetime incarceration.[3]
Many of the locations at the Bahá'í World Centre, including the terraces and the Shrine of the Báb which constitute the north slope of Mount Carmel, were inscribed on the World Heritage List in July 2008

The Bahai Gardens in Acre Israel -
The Bahá'í Gardens at Bahjí in 'Akko form a wide circle surrounding the historic mansion where Bahá'u'lláh, the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá'í Faith, resided during the final years of His life and the shrine where His remains were laid to rest.
The approach to the circular garden is a long, straight path framed with cypress trees and informal plantings. As you walk, the silence seems to grow in intensity. Entering the heart of the site is like arriving in a world of peace and serenity, a wall-less sanctuary that is protected without being enclosed. Here the formal, precise gardening flows around historic buildings and natural elements that include a centuries-old sycamore fig tree and the remains of an ancient olive grove.
The Bahai Gardens in Akko

BAHAI GARDENS & BOATING IN AKKO
The Bahai Gardens create a majestic, beautiful and meticulous display of sculptured perfection and devotion to the Bahai faith.
The grounds are open seven days a week from 9 am to 4 pm. They are closed on Bahai holy days and Yom Kippur and it is free to enter.
The best times to visit are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday between 9 am and 12 pm. During these times, the inner garden is open, as well as the shrine. During the remaining operating hours, visitors can only walk around the outer gardens.
The easiest way to get here is by car or by tour. Visitors can take National Road 4 to the North Akko junction. Heading south toward the center of Akko, take the first left turn and follow the road to the end. The entrance is located at the end of the old access road to Kibbutz Shomrat.
The boat rides in Akko at the ancient Marina in Akko’s Old City are one of the hidden gems in Israel. Largely unknown and not widely publicized the boat tours are both extremely affordable and extremely enjoyable, giving tourists and locals alike a view of how the ancient coastal city appeared to sea-faring vessels throughout the generations.
At the southern end of the Old City, beside the ancient Pisan Port is the Marina, now populated with countless small fishing boats, dinghies and yachts. Several boats holding up to 25 passengers or so are usually docked at the cement wharf, loading up with tourists and locals. Depending on the crowd, the music varies from vibrant Arabic melodies to niche Jewish tunes, the captains usually don’t mind switching the music. Some boat captains may even let you steer once the boat is out at sea, just ask.
The boat rides in Akko takes up to 25 minutes and passes the furthest sea walls, where the lighthouse is, and heads out for a few hundred metres. While out as sea the boat turns around and returns, passing close by the walls and the spot known by many as where the local youth jump into the sea.
The fare is 20-30 NIS per person and is paid to whoever seems to be collecting money at the dock.
