Flekkefjord is a small town marking the transition between the southern coastline of Norway, Sørlandet, and the western part of Vestlandet.
During the era of the sailing ships Flekkefjord offered a good and safe port for visiting ships from the Netherlands in the early 18th century. The export of paving stone was important. Later timber and fisheries became dominant industries, along with tanning. By the end of the Age of Sail Flekkefjord dwindled into oblivion as did so many white painted Norwegian coastal towns.
And that is why they are so fascinating to visit today.

This day we rode from Veen Camping to Byrkjedalstunet for a great breakfast.
We then moved on to the North sea and the coast of Bryne, where we took the North sea road down south to Sogndalstrand, Helleren. Rode the incredibly steep Tronsåsen, before we ended the night at Farsund resort. One of the best days!

Tronåsen 2018
Tronåsen is the name of a protected road between Moi and Flekkefjord. The road ends at Bakke Bro, an old chain bridge from 1844 over the river Sira.
Tronåsveien is part of the old west main road and has 8 sharp turns from Tronvik to the county boundary (county border) at the top and 3 sharp turns towards the West Agder side. The road is very steep with an increase of 1: 3 on the Agders side and 1: 4 on the Rogaland side, and it was considered to be one of the most dangerous stretches of the Rally Monte Carlo in 1931. The road width is 2.5 - 3.5 m. On this Peacefully, every five years, veteran racing is organized with great participation.
The road is open for passenger cars and minibuses in the summer from approx. 1 May - 30 September. The road is one-way from Tronvik to Sira.

Tronasen oder Tronåsvegen in Norwegen
Der Tronåsen oder Tronåsvegen ist eine historische Straßenverbindung in Süd-Norwegen. Sie befindet sich zwischen der E 39 und Sira (ca. 20 km entfernt von Flekkefjord) und wird heute nur noch als Touristenstraße und nicht mehr als normaler Verkehrsweg benutzt.
Der Pass ist nur im Sommer geöffnet und ist nur als Einbahnstraße in Richtung Sira und nur für PKW befahrbar. Aufgrund der geringen Straßenbreite eignen sich dafür wirklich nur PKW bis zu einer Breite von 1,90 Metern, nicht jedoch Wohnmobile oder PKW mit Anhänger.
Die Strecke ist rund fünf Kilometer lang und schmal, mit sehr engen Serpentinen und einer enormen Steigung von über 25 %, teilweise sogar 33 %.
Um 1930 war der Tronåsen ein Teilstück der Rallye Monte Carlo. Seit 1945 wird der Tronåsen als Straße nicht mehr verwendet, aber als Touristenstraße erhalten. Ein braunes Schild an der E 39 weist den Weg zur Einfahrt. Der Beginn der Straße ist bei Tronvik an der E39.
Das Ende des Tronåsen wird durch die 52 Meter lange Hängebrücke Bakke bro markiert. Von dort aus kommt man wieder auf die E39.
